A great place for terrific food. The house specialty chicken was fabulous as were the desserts and everything else. A neighborhood gem! Highly recommend.
It was ok. Very pricey for the food portion you pay. Drinks were good. Hospitality was good too.
Service was extremely slow. It took more than 15 minutes for our appetizers to arrive at our table, and neatly an hour for our entrees. The wait staff either forgot our order or the kitchen somehow exploded tonight due to other antics. It’s disappointing that it took the wait staff so long to acknowledge the delay. Once we were served, the food was mostly solid. The bolitas were tasty and well presented, the paella had strong flavors & aromatics, and the short ribs were NOT very flavorful or memorable - for a dish that the waiter said required several hour preparation. Tonight may have been an off night, but the restaurant did little to make up for the poor service and the lackluster food. Could be far better...
Overall really good experience, I read some reviews about the size of the portions but I found them more than sufficient, I had a very attentive service even though it was very busy, food was very flavorful, recommended
Great dining experience. Food was wonderful and our waiter took the time to really explain the dishes we were considering (and ordered). Will definitely come back.
Overall the service was very poor. Too crowded. Portion sizes too small for the price. The chips were served with a stainless steel sized thimble of salsa that was too small to dip the chips into. Our request for additional sauce was at a cost! At the the end of the meal we were blocked in from exiting our table because a patron was seated in the aisle which just for the record broke the fire marshall emergency code, and collecting our doggie box with a claim check which was a first. Last and most importantly your maitre'd needs to learn customer service. I believe we won't be returned any time soon.
Another fine dining experience with some substantial ceviche, roast chicken, tuna tartar and paella all excellent. Nothing dry overcooked or bland. Service excellent and efficient. Back again soon.
Very good service and did not rush us. The food is good but I enjoyed most the pork belly fried rice.
Delicious and creative dishes, we loved the tapas. Our wait person was impeccably excellent!
Ceviche, scallops, and pork belly skewers were among the best I’ve ever had! Great portion size, marvelous staff, beautiful ambiance.
So good! Just like being back in South America. The ceviche, maracuya sour, and suspiro limeno were amazing.
Wonderful food and lovely staff. I brought friends who had never been and they LOVED it.Always a joy to eat here.
A real treat for New Year's Eve! Outstanding food, beautifully please. The ribs in an Inka Cola sauce melted in the mouth, the breaded sea bass special was so tender and flavorful, and the quinoa crusted flan was a perfect finish. Our favorite neighborhood restaurant. Attentive service was the icing on the cake
Delicious food, was able to find neighborhood street parking during lunch time on a Friday. Tried many apps with my group and my main dish was terrific and everyone said the same about their dishes but service was terribly slow and they were not even anywhere close to a full house.
This was about the worst dinning experience I've had in San Francisco. I really don't know how this place stays in business. Our server didn't know the menu. They we're out of the first two bottles of wine we ordered! Most important the food just wasn't good. Of the 3 different entrees ordered, the chicken was served just about room temperature and was tasteless. The Pescado a lo Macho "bouillabaisse" was uninspiring and very heavy. The steak we ordered was just bad with no other words to explain. I would not return to this restaurant or recommend.
The cebiche was fresh and good flavor and the seco was delicious.
Fantastic! Everything was delicious. That shrimp...
Great neighborhood restaurant! Really enjoyed it. Flavorful Peruvian fusion cuisine with wild/sustainably-caught seafood and organic ingredients. Lively atmosphere, great service and a full bar. Highly recommend.
Thank you for a great birthday dinner. The food was great for sharing and the staff were attentive and knowledgeable. Loved the Smokey Sexy cocktail.
We will be back
Incredible food, loud patrons, slightly spotty service but it was very busy. I totally recommend this place.
Our server Enrique was awesome he definitely made sure we had a great date night. Wonderful guy. The food was delicious especially the checive trio. I would recommend this to anyone!
We had a party of 8. We had cocktails - which were great and ordered a bunch of tapas- all delicious. The mains were all good! Fun place and a great introduction to Peruvian food!
We had an excellent time here. The service was fabulous and the food was delicious. If you're not sure what to have the staff will help you select.
Pura Vida drink and empanadas a must! Such a fun hangout with friends before seeing a show at The Midway. Service fast and food fabulous.
We enjoyed a great meal with excellent service. Portions were good-sizes, too.
Consistently great food and service. Creative drinks - always a pleasure. The only downside is that it can get noisy
Huge decline since my last visit. The food here used to be amazing, especially the ceviches, this visit that was definitely not the case. Hopefully we just visited on an off night.
Mochica is consistently delicious. Their half chicken dish is amazing, and I am a huge fan of their ceviche chino. Their pisco sours are as good as any I ever had in Peru. Highly recommend!
LOVE love this place. Excellent food, friendly service, great drinks...all at a reasonable prices.
awesome food-a bit crazy on Friday but lovely staff made up for orders that were not correct. considering how busy it was they were amazing. NEED another bartender! you could sell a lot more at that bar if you had one more person there.
The food was great! We ordered 5 dishes and an empanada to share amongst 5 people. We tried and shared various dishes; our favorite being the pork belly. Every dish had fantastic flavors and none fell short of our expectations. We even took advantage of the happy hour, having several drinks and the cebiche. The drinks very so tasty—props to the bartender!
Enjoyed the food and drinks, especially the pisco sours! While the food was flavored well, I felt all of the sauces lacked salt. Highly recommend the lomo saltado and the quinoa crusted shrimp. Also great ceviche, but felt the pieces of fish should have been smaller. Fun music and interior vibes!
Great experience and hands down some of the best ceviche I've ever had.
This was my second visit to Mochica. We were there on a busy Saturday evening and even though the restaurant was full, the kitchen, bar and waitstaff handled it all really well. Everything we ate and drank was delicious. I particularly enjoyed the mushroom empanadas and the Camarones Crocantes appetizer. The drinks were expensive but interesting and tasty. We originally were seated in the main dining room, but it was too loud for conversation, so they found us a table in the quieter front room where the bar was located.
Great food! Our table was a little close to the register, but still ok. Server made great recommendations
We always enjoy Mochica, the food is excellent and everyone is super friendly and nice. We’ve gone here often and will continue to.
Was our second time at Mochina and really enjoyed it. All three of our meals were good. I'd recommend.
A friend and I ate there this past Sunday evening. We got a reservation for 6 p.m. and were seated upon arrival. We enjoyed the civiche mixta, beat salad and the pork shoulder. Everything was on point. The salad was not overdressed and had just the right balance of beats and goat cheese. The civiche was very fresh and the serving size was ample. The only thing I don't like is that you have to pay for the chips that accompany the civiche separately. The pork shoulder was to die for. Very flavorful and just the right amount of spice. I will definitely be back.
Great food, but high prices for small portions. You can probably find the same quality for less somewhere else.
