The kale caesar salad and beet salads were on the smaller side but tasty. Dinner portions were larger than expected - enough to satisfy big appetites. We had cedar plank salmon, Gaucho steak with chimichurri, and braised short ribs with gnocchi. All were delicious. We dined on a Sunday evening so it was very quiet. In better weather, we'll choose to dine on the patio which looked inviting.
Always enjoy coming here. Great service. Good choices. Food tasty!!
Second time in a week we love our new find. New Lake Forest residents.
First time at MLG loved it we’ll be regulars here. Great food.
Mother’s Day Brunch. The spread was pretty predictable. The eggs Benedict Bouchée were wonderful. The service was just okay. Took a while to get a drink. This is strange to complain about but there was a table located right at the doorway to the buffet area which made for an awkward passing every time you went up. I can imagine how that family felt sitting there. Poor planning. The brunch was good, but I would expect more for the price.
For what you get on the buffet, they are charging double what they should be charging. Definitely a step down from the selection they served when it was the Grille on Laurel.
Everything great but waitstaff was a little confused at times. Not enough to spoil a really good meal though.
I had a business lunch at MLG. Excellent service and pleasing menu choices.
I recommend MLG highly.
Great experience and a lot was on the line, considering “first impressions.” Servers were attentive yet seemed invisible, comfortably floating by our table. The skirt steak was pretty good but the Fish my wife ordered was great! Will definitely be returning and often!
We’ve eaten at MLG several times and really enjoy the food. Since we finally got some nice weather, we were able to enjoy dinner on their patio.
There was one opportunity for improvement. When we made the reservation on Open Table, we noted that dinner was to celebrate a birthday. Unfortunately, the restaurant neglected to acknowledge the birthday in any way. That was disappointing.
There were only six people in the restaurant and the service was RIDICULOUSLY SLOW! Grilled calamari was disgusting. It felt more “sautéed “. The garden salad was nothing special. The flavor of the burger was good but it was SMALL for the price. Would never dine there again for overpriced marginal food.
The first thing I noticed walking in was how loud it was, it was 6:30PM on a Thursday. The second thing my friend and I commented on was that our waitress was not the most friendly. They also were out of the vodka I ordered (which was listed on their drink menu). Their entree menu was a bit limited. As far as the food, the grilled calamari was outstanding as was my chicken picatta. My friends drunken pork chop was so so. Not certain we’ll be back.
Delicious food-waiter (Jose, I think) was excellent -pleasant, accommodating, knowledgeable about the food and menu-added to the overall dining experience.
I've got to say, we were disappointed with our visit tonight. I ordered the filet ask for medium, received it well done. My son ordered a different steak, it was as tough as shoe leather.
The vegetable side orders were barely cooked.
Service was good, drinks were fine. Maybe this was just an off night.
On the plus side, the tuna poke appetizer was very good. And my wife's white fish piccata likewise.
MLG used to be our go-to in the neighborhood. Maybe Marcus Lemonis needs to show up occasionally to keep the quality up.
Three out of the four of us didn’t like our food. When my first entrée was sent back because it was presented in a way that was not described on the menu (fish was served with skin and tail on, which should have appeared on menu), I was offered another entrée. The second fish (Grouper) was so fishy, I sent that back too. This is from is someone who orders fish almost every time I go out to eat. My friends commented that they weren’t surprised because it didn’t look that great either. Another disappointment was the short rib with gnocchi. Unfortunately the quality of the food does not match the great ambiance and location. Staff was very kind and helpful although service was a little slow for how many empty tables there were on a Saturday night at 7pm.
I hadn’t been there for a while and was looking forward to it. It was a Friday, we weren’t super hungry, which was a good thing! There have been multiple menu changes over the past few years. Sometimes good, sometimes questionable.
For our entrees, the two of us ordered a salad with a protein added and a grouper sandwich. The quality and taste of the food was great but the quantity was surprisingly small. “Honey I shrunk the food”. The salad was pretty tiny and the sandwich was also small. We don’t need gigantic servings, but this was skimpy and disappointing.
Still not satiated, We ordered the skillet cookie Sunday for dessert. It was beautifully presented and delicious. Unfortunately, though, we will wait a while before giving MLG another chance since dinner was disappointing.
My husband and I had a wonderful time celebrating my birthday at MLG. I've always wanted to
try bronzino and it couldn't have been served better. Our waitstaff was very good.
Food was good, as it has been in prior occasions. There was a mixup on who was to be our server, which detracted from the experience
This is the first review I’ve ever written (I typically do not believe in complaining online)... but... We waited 45 minutes for our food, and then I had to approach both managers in order to have my sons buttered noodles brought out! The server was very attentive, however they had several “big parties” which was supposed to be a reasonable excuse that my 8 year old had to wait more than 45 minutes for buttered noodles. Had I not approached both managers who knows how long we would have waited! And to top it off, the manager promised he’d “take care of us” and in turn gave us the coupon that we had already walked in with. The place was up for grabs... and it’s not the first time we’ve had this experience here... but it will certainly be our last.
Nice restaurant for a business lunch. Mostly quiet, unless a large group is there - lots of hard surfaces so sound carries across the restaurant. Food was fresh and tasty.
Waitress was cold as ice. Fries were cold and hard. Hamburger falling apart. When I told waitress, she said, “that’s disappointing”.
Decent enough place. Cobb salad was so so. Calamari was excellent. Beets were a bit overdone in the beet salad. Service was good. Just an average restaurant.
Food was ok but nothing special. Server was ok not very personable. Everything was just ok. I expected more.
Three of us were there for lunch to celebrate a friend's birthday. The room and tableware were very nice, the service was attentive and we enjoyed our food.
Terrific food and attentive, pleasant staff. Plenty of menu variety. The only downside is that the noise level could be an issue on a busier night. Mid-week was not too bad. Would love to return.
Had a great night celebrating my husband’s birthday. Staff was great - loved the 70’s music playing. Food was excellent! Thank you.
I really enjoyed my experience for Saturday brunch. The food was very good as was the service! The design is really attractive
Menu choices are great. Food was delicious.
Great restaurant! The food was delicious... The service was fast and friendly. My wife had the Beet and Goat Cheese salad with the Filet Mignon with Mashed Potatoes and Brussel Sprouts. I had the Wedge Salad with the Shrimp and Scallop Risotto. Then we had the Key Lime Pie and Bread Pudding for dessert. We would highly recommend MLG... and I am positive we will be back.
First time at MLG and we really loved everything about it... will definitely be back soon!
Always a great experience. Lobster roll is a favorite.
The waitress was disconnected from reality and really couldn’t wait to help anyone but the table she was attending.
Both my salad and main had to go back.
I love this restaurant. It has a wonderful feel to it, the staff is great and the food, delicious!
I would HIGHLY recommend MLG to a friend. We totally enjoy every aspect of our experience there. Gracious and attentive service, delicious food nicely served, and a very thoughtful birthday dessert on the house. Perfect!
We really enjoyed the Caesar salad with salmon and the burgers. Definitely coming back!
P.S. I very rarely if ever give such high praise to a restaurant. MLG deserves it.
Excellent food. Service was good. Very nice restaurant to enjoy yourselves
Four of us dined there and three of us were pleased with our selections! The one who was not just order badly! He's a salmon fan And didn't like his at all...found it tasteless. They have a special treat...but a dinner and they run a charity! Three good ones to choose from!
My wife and I went with another couple to MLG on a Saturday night. Our 6:45 reservation was honored immediately and we were seated at a comfortably sized table in the middle of a warm (and not too noisy) dining room. Our waitress came immediately and took our drink orders. I was pleased that there was a selection of craft beers. We shared a grilled calamari appetizer and a Caesar Salad. Both were excellent. I had the Ribeye steak special. The meat was cooked perfectly. My wife had almond crusted tilapia and was pleased. Overall, this was a very pleasant dining experience.
Food was very good. My wifev and I both enjoyed our meals. Our server was extremely attentive and friendly.
We both also enjoyed the live music from the guitarist.
Very good food. We had Mahi and Bass specials. Would recommend. Deserts were very tasty.
We had to return a hamburger twice before it was cooked correctly. Rest of meal was decent.
