“This hidden gem, nestled along the tracks with a pretty flower-laden courtyard for dining, is one to put on regular rotation. Modern and chic, the dining room, with its rotating art selections, dark wood seating and black leather half-banquettes that sit below an inset circular ceiling, is a great place for power lunches and weekend dates. The lounge, which is separated from the dining room by a state of the art glass wine room, is perfect for grabbing quick bites and craft cocktails. As for the food, it's hard to lose. Among starters, the crab cakes and margherita flatbread are rivaled by a French onion soup that's better than what you find at most French bistros. An absolute must to follow is the cedar plank salmon, cloaked in a teriyaki glaze and served with mixed veggies and shoestring potatoes. The steaks, ribs and bourbon-glazed pork chop are no slouches either, especially when paired with a glass of wine from the extensive but approachable wine list.”

MLG Ratings and Reviews
It is sad to see this restaurant constantly trying to find itself. The food was good and service was fine but just feel like this place keeps reinventing itself and is not finding its footing. I was told there was a brunch menu but there wasn't and that was a main reason we came. The music is hard rock. Doesn't fit the place. It needs a good manager who really cares to make this place what is was before it became MLG
Have to admit, this dining event was not nearly as good as our first experience at MLG. The server was tied up with a big party and we were a bit of an afterthought. Had to ask for everything including drinks. Food did not come exactly as ordered and the Gumbo was mediocre at best. Will likely try again, but hope the next time will be better.
Have recently moved to the area and we are trying to go to as many restaurants as possible to find something that could become a regular haunt. We are British and are used to dining out in good restaurants where children are welcome but also aren't fed the usual rubbish of hot dogs! We liked the atmosphere here and the food was solid. My kids said the calamari was good so that was a win!
I had the burger - it was good!
We will be back and I want to try their family dining which looks great value
This was my first visit to MLG and will NOT be my last. Everything was perfect from start to finish!! The sweet potato chips were delicious and my lightly grilled grouper was a real treat as grouper isn't on to many restaurants menus. My friend who had dinned there many times suggested it. The service was great, the food was outstanding and I can't wait to return.
Food was amazing, loved the modern decor as well. Waitress was very prompt, and took great care of us..However, the hostess seemed like she hated her job...could have been more polite. Will return, although hostess did present a bad first impression.
The food is generally consistent, and good. Nice offerings, great flavor. Service can often use a bit of work. Our table was near(ish) the door, and every time the door opened we would get a cold rush of air - very unpleasant. We should have asked to be moved.
Everything was great except that it was way, way, way too loud for us. My husband was repeating an entire neighboring table’s conversation verbatim. Luckily they weren’t saying anything that strangers shouldn’t be privy to! The acoustics are such that we could even hear conversations not so close to our table.
I would not recommend this place for anyone who is gluten free and has celiac disease! When I asked about items on the menu that were gluten free, the server told me there were only two things. I asked to speak to the chef and he did come out and talk with me. I tried one of the other items on the menu because the chef assured me he would take extra care with my entree. Unfortunately, I don't think he understood my explanation of what gluten free means. I have been sick for two days and will never eat there again. So, BEWARE celiac disease people!!!
I was pleasantly surprised. I have thought about trying this place for a while . The reviews I read were less then stellar . The ambience is great , very high end look . There was no one present when I walked in . I did wait a couple minutes to be seated ,. Service could have been more attentive. The lunch crowd was not busy but I did see people seated in meeting space as well. I enjoyed the chips that were served rather then bread . We all enjoyed our entrees burgers , grouper etc... . I am planning on returning for dinner .
this restaurant as always was very good. we had the fish and brick chicken which was prepared very nicely. we use a 2 for 1 special deal which helped defray he cost. we have been there quite a few times and will go back for sure. it is also in a good location for us since we lie in highland park close to lake forest. the only thing negative was that we were seated close to some people who were very loud and drinking tooo much, but thtat is not the fauld to of the restaurant. i also really liked when you had the black female vocalist on the weekends what happened to her?
We keep returning to this restaurant, hoping its menu will improve, but we continue to be disappointed. All the wait staff are super friendly and the wine list is certainly impressive, but the food offered shows little creativity in either type or method of preparation. Prices are expensive for what is relatively mediocre cuisine.
