We wanted to like MK Foodie, but were disappointed in the Happy Hour sliders: gristle in every bite. Notified the server; she apologized, but a visit from the management would have meant more. No offer to bring a second cocktail to me, and no I didn't ask, because I was checking to see if she offered. The floor was full of crumbs, looked like it had not been swept in a while. On a more positive note, we were greeted and seated promptly, the décor is airy, fresh and welcoming, the location is great, and the hummus with pitas/veggies was wonderful. They have just rebranded, so will give them time to smooth things out and try again in a few months.
Met a family friend for dinner and with the Spring baseball crowds in Scottsdale, figured most places would be mobbed. Selected this location as it was convenient to friend's hotel. Very inviting atmosphere, and the booth was bright and comfortable. Server was attentive and food was delivered as ordered. Great presentation. I had the rib eye, friend had the sea bass, both cooked to perfection. Server kept tabs on us but was not pressuring or a nuisance. Left us alone to catch up and have a wonderful evening. Strongly recommend BK
Appetizers and main course were very good. Service was great as well!
My wife and I visited for our anniversary. We thought we’d try this restaurant as we thought it was a new dining spot in the Gainey area. Turns out it was the same location as the old Drexel restaurant but it wasn’t new at all.... just renamed to not confuse it with a local furniture store.
We showed up for our reservation at 645 and were seated promptly by a nice gentleman. Our server came by after a few minutes with water and asked for a drink order. I ordered a Manhattan on the rocks and my wife not sure what she wanted asked the waitress to come back. 10 minutes later the waitress was at a nearby table and we had to flag her down to place my wife’s drink order , keep in mind I haven’t yet received my cocktail. She ordered her wine and 8 minutes later finally returned with both our drinks but my martini was made up instead of on the rocks. Easy fix right? You’d think so . Just take the drink back to the bar and poor over ice. I was close...I was watching the drink finally get fixed and as I expected her to bring it to me she walked into the kitchen. Almost 3 minutes later she leaves the kitchen with my drink and another customers food and goes to a different table, drops off the food, converses and finally comes back with my drink. 24 minutes from ordering to proper delivery. Having to wait for that long in a restaurant with 25% occupancy staffing 3 servers and a bartender is absurd.
We ate our salad( MK wedge) which was delicious and enough to share as a starter but instead of continuing our meal here we asked for our check. For another 10 minutes we sat with card out ready to go while waitress was across the room chatting away.
Long story short. MK Foodie is the old Drexel and this beautiful restaurant is being wasted by poor service.
Better choices in Scottsdale.
We loved MK Foodie! We wanted to try something new for a date night and this place was great! Very nice decor inside, wonderful service and great food we highly reccommend!
A true GEM!
If you have not been here, it is worth the trip from anyplace in the county!
AWESOME menu, service, ambiance!
We were thrilled that it is the same owner because we LOVED Drexel and it was a wonderful evening. We absolutely love that you kept the S’MORE dessert and all of our dishes we PERFECT!!
I asked for a medium rare hamburger and didn't get what I asked for. There was no rare to this burger at all.
In addition it was from the happy hour menu but my drink was charged at the higher rate.
Great quiet restaurant with quality food . Enjoyed their steak...Waitress Leah was wonderful.Nice neighborhood restaurant...Appreciate the discount on the drinks...
Good food and wine. This use to be one of our favorite restaurants when it was called Drexyl. They have changed the menu slightly and altered some of the appetizers that were amazing. Will try again and see if we have a better experience. We did have issues with making a reservation. Tried calling and finally had to make them online-when i called to make sure they were open they seemed aggravated that i called to follow up.And when we arrived they didn’t care we had a reservation and they were pretty busy.
This was our first visit to the restaurant and we were there for a business event. The staff were very helpful and provided an excellent level of service. Great food with some nice options.
Overall a great spot for dinner and drinks
Food has always been good at the restaurant. Service could have been a bit better. Waitress never returned to fill water glasses.
Worse food I ever had. Cocktails was just bad. And I am not picky. Service was not great either. Decor is horrible.
We had been here when it first opened and it was really good. I feel like its taken a down turn. All the food was just ok. The service was great (Dalin). There was a weird smell of almost sewage or a bathroom when we walked in. We almost walked out and went to somewhere else but decided to stay. The smell went away and then came back. We should have gone elsewhere in hind sight. We probably will not go back again.
We just like going here. Food is always good but a little pricey.
Great steak! Perfectly done!
Great food, drink and service. They just need more customers.
Food was cold and meat came out very rare when we asked for medium rare. There was no ambience. Very overpriced for poor quality and value
Excellent service again - relaxing atmosphere
Nice menu - great sandwiches tonight
But entrees are good too .
A nice spot for casual dinner
This restaurant was barely 25% occupied at peak dinner time. Fish items on. The menu was not available and service was slow. The restaurant will not make it through the upcoming tourist season based on our experience and we will not be eating there again. Village Tavern in the same plaza is much better value.
Food was extremely salty and slow service for being almost empty on a weekend night. Wanted to like this place
We were visiting Phoenix on vacation. The restaurant we wanted to go to had a long wait, so we decided to try Drexyl, which is in the same shopping plaza. We were able to get a reservation on a Saturday night, which surprised me. Red flag #1. When we walked in, we realized a reservation was not needed, as there were many tables available. Red flag #2. We were seated at an upper level table with menus, but did not see our waitress for a while. We were not drinking that evening, so just ordered water. There were a few tables filled, but most of the restaurant was empty. There looked to be just 2 servers and one bar tender for the entire restaurant. The restaurant is lovely with a wonderful patio, which was not open that evening. After a few question to the waitress, I ordered the Chicken Savoy and my companion ordered a Filet. We waited for quite some time for our food. When the waitress came by I asked if there was bread coming with our meal. She said yes, but never brought the bread. Red flag #3. When our meals came, she mentioned that the chicken dish takes some time, which she should have told us when it was ordered. Red flag #4. The food was exceptionally good, and we both enjoyed what we ordered. The waitress finally checked on us, but we were closed to being finished with our meals. This same waitress had a table near the bar, which she visited at least a half a dozen times while we were there, and seemed to disappear at the other times. Even with great food, if the service does not improve, Drexyl will not be there long. Too bad, as it could be a lovey spot for a special evening.
Love, love, love this restaurant! Leah is an awesome server. Halibut is amazing. Tried the Lemongrass Ceasar salad this time. It was wonderful! Looking forward to returning, as usual!
Far had large televisions where you could see the game from any seat in the place which I like. No sound but you could keep up with the games. Outstanding service and good selections on the menu. And quiet enough that you can hear the people at your table talking.
This is one of our go to neighborhood restaurants ! Staff is friendly, food is well prepared , always delicious and of good value . We highly recommend this slot !
Food and service was very good.
There was a man delivering the food to tables that should either improve his overall appearance when interfacing with clients or stay in the back.
Drinks were good too.
I made reservations for the patio at 5:15 on a Friday wanting to enjoy happy hour and celebrate my mother in law's birthday. I called and said that we were running a little late. My husband got there early and no one went out to the patio for 10 minutes. The rest of the party arrived at 5:33 and we were not greeted until about 5:45. My husband had been outside for 15 minutes and then went inside to get a server's attention. It still took a good amount of time for someone to come out. Our favorite item was taken off the menu and happy hour is not a good deal. Some of the happy hour items are the same price as the regular dinner menu. I asked for 2 kids lemonades and they were brought out in tall glasses (that could easily break when being handled by small children). I asked the server if we could have cups with lids and she seemed annoyed. Our birthday celebration was never acknowledged.
The restaurant was not busy. The only area that had guests was around the bar. This is the 3rd time that we've visited this restaurant and we don't need to go back with the menu changes and the lack of attention to service. It's sad because it is a beautiful restaurant.
Disappointing and uninteresting. We've dined at Drexel several times and it has slipped several notches. The food was just not well prepared. I had the chicken with promises of a rich pan sauce. The result was dry chicken served on a pool of vinegar. Weird. The pan was basically just deglazed with vinegar and served. Chicken was uninteresting. Way, way too strong to enjoy, no balance. Lastly, we ordered a dessert, apple cobbler with a scoop of ice cream, pecans, etc etc. Simple. Can't go wrong, right? Result was a just a bowl of compote with ice cream, pecans sprinkled on top. This is not a cobbler, no crust in sight, it is just a bowl of over sweetened apple mush. Way too sweet. The menu descriptions do not match what is served on the plate. Dinner was not satisfying.
Food was disappointing
Halibut was dry, black rice gritty
Friend had the BBQ ribs....tough, sent back
Apple gobbler, Grey and unappealing, sent back
I got the breaded walleye fish and black rice at the suggestion of the bartender. My meal was outstanding. Bartender was attentive and helpful. I thought the place was awesome and would go back again, but it was dinner hour and not busy at all. Granted I went during the week, but from what I have seen of restaurants in this area, this is not normal. Disappointing to see such a great place lacking for customers. I loved it and will go again.
1st time visitors. All 4 of us enjoyed our selections from appetizers to desserts. Wait staff was excellent.
Menu has great options
Food not prepared well--overcooked fish and prok
Presentation was not appealing
Service was good and great beer and wine selection
Although the menu isn't terribly creative, the food was very good, which made up for the lackluster service and low energy ambience. Loved the arancini balls and ceviche appes. The pork chop was smoky and delicious, split it and it was still too much to eat in one sitting. And you have to try the s'more skillet, wow!
Four of us went to Drexyl for dinner to celebrate a friend's birthday. It was a first time visit for all of us, though recommended by another friend. We were impressed with the quality and selection of food and wine, the impeccable service, and the atmosphere. The chefs cooked seafood and fish to absolute perfection. Without question, we will all go back to Drexyl.
Food was very salty. Fried chicken was so dry. I should've gone to KFC. Their chicken is a lot juicier. When I spend $22 for 2 pieces of dry as a bone fried chicken, the least I could get would be amazing fried chicken. Very disappointed.
Good food and good service. Amazed at so few people there at the sit down tables. There was just our 4 and one other 2'some. Would consider going back in the fall if it is still open!
Our dinner was delicious and how waiter Elliot very attentive. One of my favorite places to dine !
So delicious and the service is terrific...I am becoming a regular!
Love the happy hour menu! Food was delicious and service was good!
