M.J. O'Connors Park Plaza Ratings and Reviews
Second visit to MJO's in a week and it was like a sketch from monty python, everything we asked for on the menu was met by "it's off , we have run out" We eventually settled for the Irish stew, which was thankfully still on. It was very nice but could have done with more lumps of beef in it . The wait staff were courteous and apologetic and the lack of menu didn't ruin the night but the management need to ask themselves hard questions as to why they allowed the food to run out.If this had been our first visit, it probably would have been our last but having been before I know they can do better
Staying at Boston Park Plaza, and attending Huntington Theater that evening, we had a reservation. Seated in a corner without a waitress for 15 minutes, when a hipper couple sat next to us, the waitress immediately came over to them. We left and went across the street to Maggiano's, without a reservation. They were polite and accommodating. The food and service were exceptional. That's where we will eat again and again.
Would never recommend MJ O'Connors. I had to rate food, service and ambiance, but there wasn't any.
Fast service, perhaps a little too fast as they served our mains before we had finished our starters, although I now understand this is a trait in all the bar dining in Boston. Lesson learnt don't order starters, other lessons learnt are if you want another beer or a desert ask for it early or they will assume you have finished and present the bill. Overall a good,if a little rushed experience
Excellent service by our very attentive server! Food came out quickly and was great. The loud bar crowd made it hard for us (sitting at a nearby table in the dining room) to talk without yelling, so not the best place for a quiet dinner. But it's a fun spot!
Out of seven of us, two had credible reasons for not liking their dinner. Tacos very bland with no spice to it al all, and salmon overcooked. Wait staff were very nice and helpful, especially to the two children with us.
They had no record of our reservation but seated us in a timely manner.
I would only go back if it were just for drinks and appetizers.
It was not great. We were a small group of friends who went for an after show dinner. I ordered a dish on daily specials menu that given to us. They then brought different dish. I said it was not what I ordered. They bought a different daily specials menu. Obviously they had given us an old one the first time. By the time I got my meal all the others had finished and were ready to leave. The loud drinking crowd around us made conversation difficult. One the others in our found their meal “not good” but did not send it back. The conclusion is – go there to drink – but don’t have expectations on the food – which is not cheap…. So I
My boyfriend and I were in the city for the weekend and went here on Friday night for drinks and appetizers. We'd both been there before for drinks with friends and enjoyed it. This time we sat at the bar and service was great. Food was good and the staff was nice. However, we returned on Sunday for brunch and received a completely different experience. We sat at a table rather than the bar this time. The waitress was not very attentive. She took our order, dropped off our food, and checked in on us once. It wasn't even crowded when we were there - only a handful of other people for two waitresses. We definitely would have ordered more drinks if she had checked in with us more. We ate in about 40 minutes and then waited another 30 minutes before finally having to find her to get our bill. She wasn't busy with other customers but rather was standing and chatting with the other staff. She then brought out bill and forgot the pen. Overall, we were really unsatisfied with the experience we had on Sunday.
Four of us came for dinner before a comedy show and it was excellent. The place is pretty big so it didn't feel crowded though there were plenty of people. Had the Guinness Beef Stew, French martini for dinner then bread pudding and Nutty Irishman for dessert. They had to roll us out. Food was excellent, server too!! Highly recommend!!
Made a 2:45 reservation to take my sister out after the Women's March. They were completely unprepared, took 20 minutes of waiting before a hostess even greeted us, and an hour before the two of us were seated. We ordered as soon as the waitress came (about 15 minutes), and waited over a half hour for soup to arrive, the sandwiches arrived around the same time, and seemed as if they'd been cooling off for some time. 2 hour ordeal for a soup and sandwich, no management available to speak with. Tipped in full as it was not the servers fault they were so severely understaffed, but will certainly not be returning or recommending to anyone.
Found this gem right around the corner from the Boston Park Plaza hotel, where we were staying. Since it was a very cold night, it was wonderful to find such a cozy, warm restaurant so close. Food and service were both very good. I would highly recommend this restaurant, especially if you love Irish pubs.
The table we were sat at was in the corner and a little quirky for 5. It was very noisy and hard to hear others in our group talking. We were sat in the Bar side of the restaurant and we had two kids with us (10 & 13). The restaurant side would have been better suited for us. If I was there with friends or looking for a nice bar scene, this would have been the perfect place. The food was very good!
Had a pre Boston Marathon meal here for 6 people and were pleased with both the food and the service. Most of us had salads with chicken while two had a Thai dish. Everything came to the table in a timely fashion and tasted great! The chicken on the salads was not overcooked and juicy.....excellent!!
