I have been to MIZU a number of times, some have been good and some have been not as good. Unfortunately this time was the least enjoyable, and I believe it will be my last. My partner and I were seated at a far away booth, which is tucked into a corner. There was a large party seated next to us, and the wait staff pretty much forgot about us. It was difficult to flag down a server because they were busy and we were tucked away in the corner out of sight. I did not receive my drink until after the food was served, and we were given incomplete place settings (only one dish for wasabi soy sauce) and we were never offered fresh plates after our appetizers. The food when it was delivered was simply dropped onto the table and then the server(s) quickly disappeared. One server came by to see if we needed anything, and by then we were just a few bites from having finished our meal. The quality of the food was average, nothing special. As I said, I have been to MIZU when the food was very good, but over time my experiences have become inconsistent, leaning toward "meh". I expect to pay prices that correspond with the quality of my meal, and I don't need to keep coming back to a place that I can easily drop $100. and leave feeling disappointed. Just a thought, if you are paying attention MIZU... I know you get busy, but if you choose to use every inch of your floor space for seating, the customers in the far away booth tucked in behind the corner expect the same service as the customers out in the main area. You've been good, you've been not so good, and sadly we will part ways here.
We had a party of 6 and were initially seated at a booth. The booths are laid out so you sit on 3 sides. The people on the ends can’t hear the group. But, if you want a good people watching spot, booth it is. Our table for 6 was good. My son and I split a small sushi boat. Excellent and plenty of sushi. The others had teriyaki and enjoyed it. There sushi is the best on the West side.
The food/service was great as usual. Been here two other times and the food quality is alway good and the service was great.
We had 7 adults at this visit. Everyone enjoyed the drinks and food. Everything was fresh and tasted great!
Food was good but not sure if the waiter was new or just clueless. Took forever for waiter to initially come over. Took our order and brought our miso soup and the salads that came with the udon but didn’t bring our drinks (just water and tea nothing special) until we were done with our soup/salad. Took forever to come back to take order or rest of party that came. Didn’t bring spoons with the udon, and never refilled water or tea.
Great experience. I visit Mizu often
Well I’ve been coming there for years, but today was really off. I’m not that picky, so if I noticed something, then there is definitely something wrong. I ordered the three item bento box. The gyozas were better than usual, but the spicy pork bulgogi was different along with the teriaky chicken. It took me a minute to realize that both the teriyaki sauce and the spicy sauce were both watered down. There were no grill marks on the chicken and looked like it was boiled and the pork sauce was lacking spice. It was obvious later when the spicy sauce wasn't as thick as it usually is. I'm no good critic, but if I had to choose a word to describe the food, it would be bland. I don't know that I'll waste my next lunch hour there again.
The waiter was assigned too many tables and the food was cold when brought to the table.
It took 30 minutes to get the drinks served. Another 20 minutes to get forks to the table.
We frequent the place often, but this service level was not what we usually experience.
Great food and sashimi. Liked the drunk menu and food a lot
Table lighting was too bright. Felt like a spot light whole eating.
My date got there just minutes before me and she give my name and was escorted to our table immediately. She was very impressed. The food was awesome and delicious. The services were great. She tried the cold Sake that I introduced her and she love it. Thank you, my night went great.
Very good food, super fresh and the lunch bento box with salmon and sashimi was a very good value.
Great ambiance. Fresh seafood and customer service was great! I would definitely come back.
Been going to Mizu for several years it just keeps getting better thanks to great Sushi chefs, top notch manager and great staff....
This is one of two or so spots that I go to for business lunches.
Delicious sushi! It was very loud and busy but we got in quickly with our reservation for a Saturday night. Food was served quickly but we were not rushed at all.
Their sushi is outstanding and the service was great. We sat in the middle of the restaurant where tables are lined up next to each other so you can be sitting right next to another family which I don’t like. The restaurant is very loud but maybe it’s less noisy if you request a booth or sit at the bar.
As always. Excellent food and great experience. This is one of my favorite sushi places to go. I love the fact that you can make opentable reservations.
our first time there after a recommendation from family member....we will be back! thanks for the great food and service!
Food was great and everyone had a good time. Just be very careful when driving there and make sure things are not left in your car. 5 cars, including mine were broken into the night we went and I learned this is a common occurrence there as it is in many similar parking lots in San Jose.
Great food and service. Gets crowded and loud and parking can get tricky...but the food and service is awesome
excellent food and great service but like may restaurants, alcohol overpriced. best on a week night.
I always have a great experience when I visit here from NC. They would have received 5 stars, but I received attitude from the hostess up front regarding my reservation. They told me they didn’t take 8 or more on the opentable website even though I received a confirmation. We waited over 30 mins for our table and another 15 for our orders to be taken. Also, they closed at 2:30 pm and the experience was completely rushed. Please update your website to reflect reservation policy. Thanks.
We has a sushi boat for two, and the sashimi was excellent! The baked green mussel appetizer was also vert tasty with just the right amount of spice for us.
We enjoyed our lunch at Mizu with 3 Adults and 1 Child. We sampled several dishes and enjoyed the sushi very much!
This was an excellent experience! Dinner for 4 - must make a reservation, it is very busy especially on a Saturday night.
The food was excelent, service was great, ...did I mentiin the food was excelenr? Kirashi sashimi meys in tiur mouth and super fresh. The tuna poppers and shrimp super fresh and hot and crisp. The rolls....rolling pleasure. Fresh wasabi $2 extra but worthed every peny!
Thank you MIZU!
We've been to both locations (Campbell and MV) and they're different settings with similar food. The Campbell location has a more upscale feeling and atmosphere. Service was good at both locations. We had a 7:45 reservation but checked in an hour early (expecting to just have a drink at the bar). We were pleasantly surprised to get seated immediately. In addition when we noticed that one of the booths was open we requested to move and were again pleased that they moved us. Both of those things will give us reason to return. The meal was as good as we've had before. We split a sashimi salad, and also the sashimi dinner which provided 10 good sized pieces of fish each. Also had garlic edemame to start which were very tasty and had lots of garlic. Service was very good as usual. This place is always crowded on weekends so make sure you have a reservation. We will be back for sure.
The food was delicious. Took a while to get one of our plates, everything was great!
Been here before & always liked food. This time food quality poor and one member of party got gastritis. Very disappointed. We left hungry. Won't be back.
As I sit here with stomach pain after our dinner here, a prompt for a review of this place come up on my phone, so this might be a bit bitter, but here it goes.
We got the signature sushi boat for two, cherry blossom, hot mango and the citrus-salmon Hi appetizer.
The rolls were not bad, appetizer was just okay. When we got to the sushi boat, the sashimi was fine but one of the nigiri, I couldn’t tell what fish it was, a white fish, not tuna or salmon, it did not taste fresh. Very fishy and even when I tried to cover it up with more wasabi the taste was still too strong and I ended up spitting it out.
I’m not sure if that’s what it was or that the tuna wasn’t really tuna but the waxy fish that cause stomach issues but a couple hours later I’m running to the bathroom with stomach on full evacuation mode. Sorry for the TMI but I have to be honest. Don’t think I’d ever come back here.
extremely loud for dining , but great food, great service!
Service lacked. Kept having to waive down the server for needs.
I am hard of hearing and wear hearing aids. They sat my date and I in the center table smack in the middle of all the background noise and would not move our table to a quieter spot:( I explained my dilemma but they were not accommodative at all! I could go on about the food and service but will just say that I will not be eating here again.
Celebrated a new chapter in our life
Always fresh, always delicious, always excellent service. Try the crispy rice spicy tuna app and Ninja roll. My favorites!!
The menu was extensive... The sushi was fresh... very tasty. The atmosphere was okay. Seating was a bit tight. The service was very good. The waitresses were very attentive. The value was good as well. I would return if we are in the area.
First time to eat at Mizu. We were pleasantly surprised! There was a huge selection of entrees, the service was excellent.
One of my favorite go to places for sushi and Japanese food
