MIZU Japanese - White Bear Lake
Happy Hour Daily.
Within the top 5 Japanese restaurants in the Twin Cities metro, and the best value for money.
Sit at the sushi bar for the best experience.
In past posts, I have said that this is the best sushi in the Twin Cities. Last Thursday night it was the best food in the Twin Cities.
The food here is consistently outstanding. But I want to give a shout out to the servers at Mizu. They are attentive, informed, generous and kind. Always professional in bearing but with openness and friendliness. And if exotic drinks are your thing, you really need to turn them loose.
Had a great time my first time here. I read a lot of reviews about people complaining about how long food takes to come out. I was actually glad it took time to get my food. I could enjoy eating what I ordered and not be in the middle of a course while my next dish came out. Everything we ordered tasted great. The sevice was great as well. We will be back again
Amazing food as always. There is nothing like this place outside of downtown St. Paul or Minneapolis.
Great staff. The staff was amazing. Good food. We will go back.
Great HH, excellent sushi and attentive service. The specials were delicious.
The food was excellent. The shrimp fried rice was amazing. The rolls were good as well. Happy hour deals made prices reasonable, but regular menu items bumped the overall cost up.
Our food took about an hour between ordering and receiving our meal while tables around us arrived and received their meals after we had ordered and before we ate. We went 20 minutes at a time between seeing our server. Food was excellent but the service makes it very hard to want to go back.
I really wanted to love this restaurant, but for a place with only a few patrons, they still managed to forget to bring one of the main courses to the table. What we did have ranged from ok to excellent. The miso soup had depth and was delicious, while the edamame was too lightly salted. The sushi I had was good but not great and then were out of uni which was disappointing. The gyoza was very good but fried rice was decent but no better than my local Chinese dive.
Food was ok, but nothing special. The various rolls were loose and didn't use normal Japanese sticky rice so they fell apart. Portions we're tiny. No rice was provided, unheard of for a Japanese restaurant. Service was slow, items delivered randomly, and I also had to remind our server about forgotten items. The music was an excellent choice if it was an Italian restaurant. I won't be back.
Our first time there, and my husband and I had the tasting menu and sake flight. Food was delicious and refined, and the sake paired nicely with the food. Our 11 y.o. daughter loved her pork belly ramen. We will definitely be back!
We chose MIZU for our 11th wedding anniversary, and we were not disappointed. We had the 5-course tasting menu, and the food was excellent. Our server was great, as well as all the staff we spoke to. It’s a dog-friendly patio, and we enjoyed some great dogs. It was a beautiful evening and we are looking forward to coming back soon!
Overall great but there was a notable gap between our starter and the rest of our meal (30 mins), which was unusual.
The location is pleasing, the service is professional and fun, the food is presented beautifully, and the taste was thoroughly enjoyed by all four of us!
Beautiful setting. We sat on the deck, the lake view is so relaxing. Wish there was some protection from the mosquitos though! Food and drinks were fabulous. Awesome service!
Our server was friendly, attentive and fun! Food is always amazing too!
Josh was awesome and food delicious as always
Highly recommend this place. Very chic and relaxing
This is a must go to place in the Twin Cities. View, service, food, booze all absolutely first rate. Raises the bar for every other Japanese restaurant in the area.
Seven of us were there to celebrate my son’s birthday. Frankie was our server and she was outstanding! We had a lovely evening and enjoyed the food, wine, sake and the company!
Favorite summertime restaurant! And great place to bring out of town guests!
I wanted to fall in love with this place but after 2 times of being here, I can’t.
This last visit we ordered apps and it took 1 hour to get them. This is extreme.
The time before that we waited 20 minutes before a server came and then food took over an hour to get to us.
We had reservations for 7:00 and arrived on-time. We didn't receive our appetizers until 8:15.
Extremely slow and far too expensive.
Always great food. Service seems to have slipped. Last two times we have been there, our food took waaay too much time to get to the table. Still a great place but the standard I have grown accustomed to was not met twice in a row.
Bad experience, if the food was good we just got the impression to get samples and left hungry. Very, very expensive for what you get
Thick pieces of fish and it’s fresh. Best sushi place I’ve ever been to. Nice strong cocktails too! Not cheap but great value. You get more than you pay for.
They were swamped but still did a good job. We were offered free drinks because some food items came out really late and others very early, it wasn’t easy for them. The food was good, small portions though. People were great, I would go again.
Great service. Fatty Big Eye Sashimi was great. Along with a nice Chardonnay by Paul Hobbs. A wonderful evening
Favorite restaurant in the Twin cities! Everyone does a good job.
Small, overpriced rolls. Nice patio with beautiful lake view for an evening cocktail though!
I sometimes wonder why we eat out anywhere else. This food is so good and the service is prompt and helpful. We sat at an inside table over looking the lake and the entire patio was filled with fellow diners. Fresh and inventive sushi plus the absolutely best miso soup I have ever had.
One of our favorite places!!!
Amazing sushi with a gorgeous view of White Bear Lake!
Best sushi in White Bear. Best service I’ve had in about 3 years anywhere.
Marvelous! The food definitely exceeded our expectations. We did the 5 course tasting menu. Wait staff was excellent and food was amazing! Will be back 😀
Great food at happy hour prices while overlooking White Bear Lake. What's not to like?
Went for Mother's Day before heading to a concert, as always food was fantastic and arrived in enough time to enjoy it.
Mizu is a great restaurant. The location on White Bear Lake is very pretty setting. Our meals were very good. The sushi presentation was great. The restaurant also offers entrees for the non- sushi guests. Parking is a bit of a problem . Overall I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
A hidden gem in white bear lake that serves and executes a brilliant menu.
We had high expectations and Mizu exceeded them! The entire experience was fantastic!
