We came in for a birthday dinner (only mentioned it casually) and had an excellent experience with Will and even some surprise bday dessert!
So yummy and always a good experience. Drinks food ambiance was all on point. Good variety of food...the avocado roll is my favorite!
The food was fabulous. Service was a little slow but they were crowded and seemed a bit understaffed. I would definitely recommend.
Never had a bad experience here! Great vibes and better sushi!
Beautiful restaurant, delicious food, lots of great menu options!
Had a lovely time at this place, great sushi great vibe
Unfortunately, not the greatest experience. We were seated outside on their patio but directly next to the trash can, which smelled absolutely awful. We waited over an hour for our sushi to come and it was very bland. No flavor and the fish was not fresh, no one came to our table for almost an hour so I'm wondering if they maybe forgot our order. Sadly, won't be back and would not recommend.
Bad service and bad food.
Dining here was an awful experience. It took a very long time for a server to come and bring us water. The special fatty tuna was already starting to oxidize and had some tough parts. The ramen was lukewarm at best. The egg was downright cold. The pork was tough. I sent it back and asked for a hot bowl of soup. The server apologized and said it would be on the house. By the time we finally got the next ramen it was the exact same. We just wanted to leave and since it took awhile to get the check we didn’t look closely at it, but I later realized the ramen was not taken off our ticket. All in all, it was a huge disappointment and I don’t plan on ever returning.
Delicious sushi and one of the best Miso soups. We loved all the rolls we ordered! Also enjoyed the cocktails.
Food Was fire 🔥
Food took a little while, but overall great experience.
This place has fantastic sushi. It is overly pricey so it would never be a regular spot for me, but I would come back for special occasions for sure. Our service started out sub-par, but once our server finally came to greet us, he was great, made good suggestions, and we had what we needed when we needed it.
It was my birthday! I loved it
The foods are really fresh and well prepared. For a family of 3 prepare to spend about 100 before tip
Such a dope spot. Go here for great selection sake and small dishes to share. The style inside is awesome. Great food and great service. Get here early before the run out of their best dishes.
Delicious food, great service, always a staple when we go to Denver!
Food and service were amazing. Loving coming here for a fancy meal, plus the variety of food is perfect for everyone
Favorite place in Denver! Food is amazing and service is quick and friendly. Love everything I’ve tried on the menu
Always excellent food, but slow service. Covid has probably affected service, unfortunately it can be very slow.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere 👌❤️
sushi birthday springs
High-quality casual Japanese dining
Evan and I recently treated Steve to a sushi-style birthday dinner. Located in the heart of Lo-Hi , the atmosphere of Mizu had a casual-Colorado style within hints of Japanese décor. The open-air design perfectly showcased the warm Spring afternoon. There was also a private dining room that looked really inviting!
The takoyaki (stuffed octopus wheat cakes) and hamachi nigiri (yellowtail) were some of the best we had ever tasted!
The nigiri and sashimi portions seemed very generous and the quality tasted superior. Steve and Evan also really enjoyed the hotategai (scallop nigiri).
If we wanted to be a little critical, we could say a couple of the rolls we ordered were a little strange. The Philadelphia roll had so much cream cheese, that it seemed like it should be served on a bagel. The specialty Mizu roll made with a shiso leaf and many other ingredients had an odd mouthfeel.
To end on a positive note:
"The hot sakes were aflowin', while the sushi rolls kept a rollin' " would be the song lyrics that described our pleasurable birthday meal honoring Steve! Yes...we ordered way too much for three people. :)
Food always amazing it’s a little expensive but it’s always a good time. Food to nominal the cocktail this is great staff is very.
The sushi was good but not great. We had a reservation booked well over a week in advance for 7.30 and we were not seated until 8.20. They had not explanation other than "sorry for the wait." Service was slow and you could tell the hostess and server could care less about niceties and were overwhelmed. They had people crammed at the front door waiting to be seated. So much for COVID concern. It was a pretty underwhelming, awful experience for such an expensive, and sought after restaurant.
Food and drinks were absolutely amazing. Our waitress was a doll and on top of everything. Food came out in a perfect order. Highly recommend!!!!
I ordered what was apparently my server’s favourite food, and I loved them all: Tokyo Roll, Kobe fried rice, and Tonkotsu ramen. The cocktails were also very well made.
Multiple things were never served to us. Our waitress wasn’t interested in checking in on us at all. Overall madhouse. Multiple people flagged down to get check and still couldn’t get it done. Not gonna lie, I almost walked out on that bill.
Unfortunately when we went to Mizu, we did not get our food for a long time. There were plenty of delays and ended up having to get it to go. However, the manager and our server were very accomodating to our issues and took care of us for the issue.
For what we did get to eat, it was delicious. The drinks were amazing, the appetizers and salad delicious. I wish we didn't have to eat our sushi to go, but what we did have was still yummy (but would have been better fresh). The ambiance is lovely and we will definitely give it another shot! Hope the timing will be better next time.
Mizu Izakaya & Sushi
This place was amazing!
The Takoyaki was a perfect starter, fluffy and oozing flavor!
The Hotake was also amazing on its own or with some soy sauce/w wasabi.
And the old fashion was one of the smoothest I’ve had.
We finished with the Wagyu & stir fry Udon.
Both where light, delicate dishes but seasoned just right. Nothing felt over powering and you won’t feel over stuffed if you take these dishes slowly!
Didn’t regret the purchase one bit, food was excellent.
It was a great experience. We got the outdoor patio which was covered and heated up. Loved the ambience.
The food was great too. I personally enjoyed pork bao buns and karage chicken more than the ramen.
love this place. they have amazing cocktails, drinks, and their specials are fire! Sushi is amazing - so fresh. great place. great for a date night.
The food was unreal. The hamachi jalapeño sashimi is a must if you come here. We also all were in agreement that the Hotate roll was one of the best we’ve ever had.
Service was great as well :)
Never disappoints, always fantastic and fresh. Excellent service.
Miso soup tasted like it had been simmering in the same pot for three weeks, it tasted musky for lack of a better word. The seaweed salad was 90% soggy mixed greens with a couple tablespoons of seaweed salad on top. The salmon sashimi was barely thawed and the grapefruit on the hamachi was a weird combo IMHO. King Soopers' sushi bar has better product than Mizu. The staff was nice and they tried but you could tell no one wanted to be there. A funny thing was looking at the ceiling light which used the vintage light bulbs, a few had burnt out and were replaced with regular bulbs...a microcosm of the whole restaurant. FYI, this is the only review of a restaurant I have ever left my life, it was that bad.
Besides matsuhisa, best sushi in CO
Dang, I really wanted to love this place. I took my friends from out of town as our last dinner here and somehow 2/4 orders didn’t get placed at all. The dinners came out before the apps, the server hardly stopped by our table. I waited an hour before asking a busier to grab my server because my food had yet to come out, nor had she stopped by to ask if we needed anything. They took the first initial drinks off our tab to say sorry and made my sushi roll to-go. Which was great, however, I won’t come back.
It just wasn’t worth the cost. Overpriced and slow service didn’t help. The table next to us was also smashingly drunk and screaming loud. They seemed to be egged on by the manager as he gave them drinks and drank with them.
Super freshly catch fish which make the all of the food and dishes delicious
Couldn’t have had a better experience. 10/10 recommend.
