Chef and watier were very attentive and personable. Food was a disappointment. Branzino tasted as though it wasn't fresh, but was frozen and then defrosted for cooking. Vegetables on the side were very modest. Those who had tortillas said they were heavy.

Food was good but the experiencr was great! At a reasonable price we had Chef Jose Rodriquez full attention throughout the meal. He shared his experiences snd philosophy with us, had samples of pulque and selected dishes sent to our table, and customized an entree as an appetizer for us so we could all try it. The ceviche appetizer was the most impressive really great, guisado with pork was good and the enchiladas with chicken too. One in our party had the filet mignon for 24.99 (in Dallas in 2023, that’s a great deal) and said it was excellent. Spend an evening at Mixtitos with the Chef at moderate prices- a nice change from the ordinary dinner!

Great menu with very diverse choices both kid friendly and more adventurous. The cocktails were excellent and the service was spotless. The owner delivered complimentary birthday cake (Tres Leches!!) and even joined in singing the birthday song. Try the "Japanese Shephard's Pie".... mind blowing!

Jose is super hospitable, the food is excellent and his old-fashioneds are as good as I make at home. Best filet mignon I have ever had, branzino with vegetables is my favorite dish, and the flan is smooth and flavorful. Oh and the nachos are awesome!

We visited Mixitos for dinner, and the food was quite delicious. Upon arrival my party was served complimentary chips with 3 dips. I had the sampler plate with shrimp, chicken, fish, and new potatoes. Two others had the salmon and said it was awesome. The ambience was comfy, and it felt like we were in someone's home having dinner. It was my birthday and as a surprise, the chef brought out a very yummy slice of white cake with a strawberry carved into a bird. A delicate sweet white sauce accompanied the cake. Everyone at the table had several bites! I would recommend Mixtitos Kitchen, especially for celebrations.

The owner was extremely friendly,nice and helpful with menu selection. Ambience was fun, but could be enhanced with music. The food was outstanding. They had amazing homemade corn tortillas. I enjoyed the shrimp appetizer, and the beef fajitas had a delicious marinade. The best surprise: the fettuccini pasta was to die for. I wish I had ordered it! Don’t let the hole-in-the-wall neighborhood fool ya. This spot is worthy of a night out.

There’s nothing better than a chef-owned restaurant, where the chef is actually present most nights! The chef came by our table and was so friendly and nice as were all of the employees. He even brought out a special dessert for a birthday. The cocktails were well done, and in proper glasses – – cold when served “up“ and others with one large ice cube in a pretty glass. I like that they bring out a little cup of queso along with salsa and chips. We got shrimp cocktail, guacamole, porc enveloppé, Japanese shepherd’s pie, enchiladas, and cheesy chicken tacos. You can tell that everything has been prepared after really thinking it through. Even the refried beans you can tell have seasoning and are more tasty than in most places. For dessert, we tried the churros (filled with dulce de leche), tres leches cake, and the a pastry filled with berries and cheesecake that was served flambéed. The experience was engaging and authentic, like eating at a friend’s house. It looks like a casual Mexican restaurant decor but the food is elevated and delicious! We have all been talking about how much we loved the restaurant and can’t wait to go back.

It was the best restaurant experience I’ve had in a long time. The chef visited our table a couple of times while he made his rounds visiting patrons, talking about the origins of his vision for the restaurant. The food, waitstaff, ambience, all of it - we will no doubt be returning.

We've been reading all the great reviews for Mixtitos, and finally went to give it a try. It's true, the chef/owner greats you and then checks on you throughout the meal. The young host with the great hair is super friendly. I wish someone would have mentioned that there were additional menu items on the card in the middle of the table. Our daughter would have loved to order the enchiladas! We all got tacos and they were delish. Love the green salsa! Parking can be a struggle, we were there at 6:30 on a Sat night and had to park at Starbucks. We will definitely be back!

Love this place. The menu is so unique and everything we ordered was delicious. We enjoyed the pork belly and vegetable tempura appetizers, Japanese Shepherd’s Pie, Aztec soup, pork envelope and surf and turf. All fabulous. The meats in particular were all unbelievably tender. Fun cocktail list. The margaritas are solid, the horchata colada is refreshing. Can’t wait to go back and try more!

I went here to checkout the happy hour specials. I ordered the quesadilla and a frozen margarita. The food was fantastic, very fresh and delicious. The margarita was average, not much flavor. Unfortunately the bartender didn’t speak English very well and had to ask the server to come over and translate my order.

We tried it for the first time for a birthday celebration. The waitress we had was amazing. The manager was great as well. The cheesy chicken tacos were delicious!! Wouldn’t mind going back. Good experience

Mixtitos Kitchen has some of the best food I've had out in a long time. While there are traditional Tex-Mex dishes, there are also some very unique dishes that you won't see or taste anywhere else. I have thoroughly enjoyed everything I have tried so far, and plan to keep trying. The beef fajitas were next-level and the hospitality is second to none. We felt like we were visiting Chef Jose in his home. This is a must try!

This was our first time to eat at Mixtitos Kitchen, but it certainly won't be our last time. Everything was beyond perfect - the food, the atmosphere, the staff and, of course, the owner, Jose' Luis Rodriquez. The portions are huge, so come with a big appetite. This will definitely be your "go to" restaurant after you've tried it. We can't wait to go back.
