It is the policy of this restaurant to steal from its customers. Do not go here -- they will steal from you. On every check, the bartender adds 20% before they give you your bill. This is not distinguished on the bill and then they have a tip line. When I asked what the h*ll what going on, I was told that this is the policy of the owner (or his son). So they automatically add a 20% tip, don't tell you about it, then ask you again for a tip on the bill. I am reporting them to the Better Business Bureau.

I made reservations at Mix for a family dinner on New Year's Eve. The place was very noisy and service was extremely slow. The type face on the menu was so tiny it was nearly impossible to read. My husband ordered Peruvian ceviche, and was told after the server went to place the order that they no longer served it. Why was it on the menu, then? My stepson ordered a French dip sandwich. They told us they had sold out (this was at 7:15 in the evening). The server didn't come back to the table to take his re-order for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, the noise kept getting louder and louder as more people arrived, so loud we could barely hear each other talk. My granddaughter had fried chicken that she said tasted like fish, causing her to question whether they fried the fish and chicken in the same oil. My husband's mussels and my burger were okay, but not particularly memorable. Calamari appetizer was pretty good, but the hummus had way too much cumin in it. Definitely will not be going back.

I would not recommend this restaurant. Dining area was empty on a Saturday night; not what you want to see. The bar was busy but there was only one bartender. Don't go here, there are many other choices in Silver Spring

I've been to Mix twice and have been pleased both times. The food is delicious and it is a good mix of sit-down restaurant and sports bar. The service is a bit slow but the waiters/waitress are very nice. I would recommend to a friend!

Extremely loud booming club music blared throughout dinner. Conversation nearly impossible. They were out of some items on the menu. Wait staff pleasant; not well trained.

We had a hard time making reservations for a family dinner and happened upon this place. The food was awesome(crab dip... so good!!). Wait staff was super professional and nice. The manager checked on us and he was very nice. There were other families there with children who were seated for dinner, and a few guys seated at the bar watching football. I would definitely come back here for dinner or to watch games at the bar. They had a bunch of big screen TVs. Would be great to get a table for watching the Super Bowl. The location is very good. Close to the Silver Spring Metro.

Appearance - the style of the restaurant is on point with a modern, slightly rustic style. I love the decor and lighting. So much style. Food - the starters and entrees were on point. We were there for Silver Spring restaurant week, so it was great to try dishes with a little bit of a deal. The food might be a bit expensive for the value, but it was tasty and spiced beautifully. Presentation was wonderful. Service - style, no substance. The restaurant was not even half filled on a Saturday, and it was a struggle. We waited 10 minutes to be seated. The waitress was having a really hard time - just started out bad and we took care of ourselves as much as possible. The experience for 2 beers with 2 courses took 90 minutes. It was just really poor service.

The talent of chef Pedro Matamoros is great, and it's good to see his amazing lamb bolognese back to Silver Spring. But the major issue is that the dishes take way too long to be prepared. We have been there 3 times (both brunch and dinner) and every time the food took too long to be served. A few other minor issues: it's noisy and you have to actually ask for a glass of water (if you order wine, for example, be sure to say you also want water, otherwise you won't get it). Overall a very good experience because of the food, but service needs some improvement - a 20 minute wait for an appetizer, and then another 20 minutes for main dishes is not reasonable (especially as no bread is served)

The food was delicious but slow in coming. It was Restaurant Week and there was one cook and one beleaguered waitperson. She tried her best and was very apologetic but couldn't keep up. We were not in hurry, but had I come during a lunch break, I would have to have left without eating. My Cubano was the best I've ever had, and the fries were excellent. I'll try again, next time I'll call ahead to see if there is anyone working that day.
