Mitchell's Steakhouse - Columbus Polaris Ratings and Reviews
Always fabulous. The attention to detail at Mitchell's is unmatched. The attention to quality of the food is also unmatched. We started with the lobster bisque and spicy lobster which were both great. We then split the 32oz porterhouse. We would definitely do it again.
Honestly, this was a big disappointment. We thought the high-end, high-$$$ Cameron-Mitchell steakhouse would provide great food and a better experience. We arrived for our reservation and were immediately seated. (Good) We were handed menus and offered water right away (Good). The server took our drink orders and it was 20 minutes before we received them. (Bad!) We were just about ready to go fetch them from the bar ourselves! Ok, so now we are 20 minutes in and we place our meal order. The bread and salads came out quickly, as did the food (Good) but the filet was tough (Bad) and the sides were just ok. Nothing special. They removed the bread just before our meal came....didn't ask, just took it. (Bad!) Everybody knows you don't take something off of the table unless you ask!!! Also, we were never asked whether we wanted another drink. (Bad) The ambiance was lovely (good) and the sound was muffled (good). Too many "bads" -- won't be going back.
Was a wonderful meal. I would have rated a 5 but, we went thinking we could use our Cameron Mitchel gift cards. When we went to pay we found we couldn't use them. The name is a little misleading since the name never changed after Cameron Mitchel Corp Sold those restaurants. Just beware if you have Cameron Mitchel gift cards, they won't work here...
The food was average and has certainly gone down hill since Cameron's departure! We were seated at a booth that was U-shaped. It was most likely for either 4 or 6, definitely not two. When we mentioned it, the hostess shrugged it off and we spent the evening turned sideways so we could talk to each other. We were not impressed at all by the quality of food. The service was "ok". Not a recommendation at all from us!
Columbus is full of outstanding restaurants and this is one of them. We always go for different wines. The one we never heard of and they had a number that fit that description. I found one and ask the Waiter to describe the wine. He said he did not know but would find out. He returned with that wine and one more. Explained both and we went his suggestion. The food was delicious and plentiful. This is a good place to go when you are in Columbus.
My only complaint is that they didn't sit us at a booth while there were several available. We were the closest table to the door and every time the door opened we were hit with a huge draft and last Saturday evening it was in the 20's weather wise. The food was top notch however.
Horrible dining experience. Waitress seated the 3 in our party and asked if either of us would like wine? Drink arrived 25 minutes after ordering it. Had to wait another 25 minutes before waitress asked if we would like another. Waitress said we were going to have 2 wait staff serving us. Never saw second. Steak and steak tartare awful. Managers walking by never checked. Simply awful service with sub par food.
Very expensive for an average NY strip.
The cost of a nothing special baked potato was over priced.
The gift cards I had I couldn't use because
MITCHELL 's restaurant is really not a Cameron Mitchell's restaurant. Very confusing and unfortunate!!
I called and told them we were celebrating a special birthday so they sat us by the kitchen and didn't even offer a birthday dessert.
The server was very attentive.
Our steaks were cooked to perfection (still bleeding, the way we like it ;) Best steaks on Polaris, and we've tried them all. Good wine list with fair prices. As with any fine dining, if you have 2-3 glasses of wine with dinner your bill quickly climb to around $200-$225 including the tip, par for the course in a restaurant of this caliber.
Food was great. The service was horrible and extremely slow. How could you not get this right on Valentine's Day which is the perfect holiday to win over customers to get them to come back. I feel bad that Cameron Mitchell's name is still on this and should have just went to one of his restaurants where the service is impeccable. I don't mind paying $45 for a steak, but the service better be great and this was deplorable at best. For a better experience try The Barn in New Albany.
We have eaten here twice and had the same ever so irratating experience twice. Only gave 3 stars on food and overall due to having to endure my biggest pet peeve. I understand that chefs tend to shutter at the unsophisticated request of someone ordering a medium well steak. But since I'm the guy spending over $50 on a piece of meat, and my wife wants it to be cooked to a temp of medium well, COOK THE STEAK HOW IT IS ORDERED! And the broccoli too for that matter. That way, we can eat our meal together instead of my wife watching me eat then me watching her eat her meal. Big fan of Cameron Mitchell restaurants but I had to mention this 2nd experience.
Food was good, but we waited 1/2 an hour beyond reservation time, and when seated it took the waiter 15 minutes to come to table and provide water and take drink order.
It was also disappointing to pay the prices that we paid and to get packed into a small table on a back wall by the bathrooms which also forced you to stare at a menu on the wall.
Expected the atmosphere to be much nicer.
My husband and I were given a few hours out without our young daughter. We typically don't take the time for a nice dinner - and prefer quiet time at home if we get it. However, we decided to do an early Valentine's Day dinner this time. Everything was wonderful. We each got a drink at the bar before our table was ready. Food was absolutely wonderful; Steaks were cooked perfectly. Jaron was our server and was outstanding. He made our entire night more enjoyable.
My wife and I were celebrating valentines dinner a week early due to the proximity of her due date. Waited 15 minutes past our scheduled reservation. Not a wise choice with a hungry 9 month pregnant woman. My drink was underwhelming, the food was outstanding, and the server was sub par. Enjoyed the meal and the spot, but that's where it stops.
