Mitchell's Steakhouse - Columbus Polaris Ratings and Reviews
Thanksgiving dinner. Food was fine. Thanksgiving meal was okay. The tipping point, though, was our server. No matter what we ordered, there was always an up-sell. Strip? Get dry-aged, bone-in. Need a sauce? Coffee? Try a French press! It was like car shopping while dining.
The endless decline of this restaurant is really sad. We used to eat here monthly, but as the service and food has grown increasingly disappointing, we seldom consider it anymore. We had a server who was very attentive and well intentioned, yet clearly wasn't trained properly. The food was poorly prepared. There appeared to be no management present. I hope whomever purchases Mitchell's next returns it to its former status.
We have visited the location downtown and loved it. Everything about the experience was excellent. So we figured the location by Polaris, where we live, would be equally as great. Unfortunately, that simply wasn't the case. While it was ok, it simply wasn't what was expected and left a lot to be desired.
The steak was very good, the sides and appetizers were good, but the 'Iced Seafood Tower for Two', which I chose as my entree to satisfy my seafood love, was horrendous. I don't know if the king crab and lobster talks were cooked and then placed in water to cool or were stored in water, but they were waterlogged. I don't know how to describe it, except to say that they were flavor less and I was literally squeezing water from each piece before trying them. Also, the oysters were dreadful. Ugh. So disappointed, especially at $60.
We celebrated my husband's 63rd birthday. We had a nice dinner, dessert and drinks and fun talking about the couple of trips we would be taking in 2018. I thought ahead and went to Giant Eagle to purchase gift cards for Cameron Mitchell's to use for the evening, as well as getting our fuel perks. We received the bill and thinking we were at a Cameron Mitchell Restaurant, I put the gift cards with the bill. Our server picked up the waiter's wallet and walked away. The manager came over a couple of minutes later and said they could not accept the gift cards because they are not a Cameron Mitchell Restaurant - they are "Mitchell's Steakhouse" and he said it has happened before with others and did apologize. I said ok and paid with a different method. I thought we were going to a Cameron Mitchell Restaurant - I guess that is what I get for thinking. Yes, it was my fault, but we ended up having a nice evening, in spite of the mix-up, anyway. Thank you!
The server was chewing gum and treated us as if we were a problem, I had to ask for a drink she did not offer. The steaks came out over done but we just ate them to get on our way. Im very disappointed for what we pay there I expected much better table and plate presentation.
A fabulous dining experience! Our server wss delightfulband well versed on the menu items, recommending the bone marrow butter ( we would not have tried it except for her stellar recommendation and it is delicious!) The food was nicely plated and excellent! The chop salad with house viniagrette surprised with sweet corn and figs, the bread was wonderfully crusty and the steak was so tender we did not use the steak knives. Also, best creme brulee ever! We will definitely becreturning soon andcrecommending it to friends.
Top notch. Superb quality, taste, and freshness. 100% worth the cost. Without a doubt one of the top five steak houses in town. My only little dibg, I understand displaces have to have a romantic and elegant lighting, but I could barely read the menu and my parents had to use the flash from their cell phone cameras.
Because it's so pricey, we visit here infrequently. This time, we were disappointed. Our group of six was seated just outside the kitchen/service entry for staff -- though there were other available tables when we arrived. Food was good quality, but not uniformly hot. Bread -- usually a standout -- was cold and dry. Everyplace has an off night, but at these prices (among the most expensive in Columbus), it was hard to take.
Chop, Chop salad very good. Had right amount of dressing. NY Strip looked smaller than 14 oz but was good. Ordered cognac peppercorn sauce with filet. We were told all sauces served on side. I think would have been better if it had been cooked with the steak. We split baked potato. It was very good. Although the steak sauces are served on the side the potato came out with the butter and sour cream on it. Server offered to get another but we declined.
We have had the pleasure of dining at many restaurants. We are very happy with our anniversary dinner at Mitchell's. Likewise, I am happy with the ease of the OpenTable app. I have recommended your restaurant to several already and will continue to do so. I feel that the words of our server "tonight, I would like to buy you desert for your anniversary" was a nice touch. Good wording and nice gesture. Thank you for great food and great service. We will see you again.
Average food. Some steaks were overdone others under cooked per requested temperature. Service was fair at best for the price (premium) paid. We will go back to Eddie Merlot's down the street for better food and service in the future. Would not recommend this restaurant.
We have dined here many times, but this time left a lot to be desired. We were celebrating our 27th wedding anniversary and we were looking forward to a great meal. Our crab cake appetizer was delicious as usual. My caesar salad arrived, I spent the first several minutes picking out pieces of brown lettuce and set them aside on my plate, very disappointing. I stopped our server and asked her to take it away, she was surprised and quickly took it away, then several minutes later she came out with the manager who brought me a new one telling me the salad was inexcuable and should have never left the kitchen. Dinner came out, I ordered the sea scallops, something I had enjoyed here before, they were tasteless, the sauce was also off tonight. My husband ordered a lobster tail, he said it was rubbery (i could tell something was wrong as he was eating it) and not very good. He also ordered the Kansas city steak which he has ordered before, and said it wasn't as good as usually is. We ordered the jalapeño scalloped potatoes to share, they were room temperature we couldnt finish them. We sat for a very long time before our server came to take our plates away when we finished what we could eat. We watched as we waited, we think she was waiting on 5 tables. We were there over 2 hours for our dinner, and the restaurant wasn't busy. Dessert which was creme brulee was good. But over all, we really just enjoyed each others company reminiscing over our years together, both surprised how bad our dining experience was, and how our meal was not so memorable that night. We received a full bill.
We had a party of seven celebrating my daughter’s 23rd birthday. We had a room to ourselves that allowed us to celebrate without disturbing the other guests. The food and drinks were delicious. I haven’t been to Mitchell’s in over 10 years and it was just as good as I remember.
We came for a very early dinner after a football game. The food and service were both outstanding. Our server gave us exactly the right amount of attention and we had cowboy cut ribeyes, which were cooked perfectly. The scotch flights offered on the dessert menu are also great.
Food was way overpriced for what was prepared. What should have been around a $100 meal was over $130 before the tip.
Also, the establishment was once part of the Cameron Mitchell brand but not any more, so they will not accept the Cameron Mitchell's gift card.
After 9 years, my husband and I were finally able to have a kid-free anniversary dinner, and it couldn't have been better! The drinks and food were excellent, service was amazing, and ambiance was quiet and intimate. Thanks for a memorable evening!
