Mitchell's Steakhouse - Columbus Polaris Ratings and Reviews
I feel like Mitchell's Steakhouse is skimming off the good name of Cameron Mitchell's.
I received a gift card, Googled Cameron Mitchell's Polaris, Mitchell's Steakhouse what's the first to appear, made reservations and got stuck with a $150 bill. GIFT CARD NOT ACCEPTED
Multiple acquaintances have had the same Experiences for over $500
FYI Cameron Mitchell sold this restaurant and you can no longer use Cameron Mitchell gift cards there. I did not know this until we all paid (3 families with GC). Long waits between courses, mashed potatoes almost cold, filet and cheesecake amazing! Servers walk your food over from a centralized location not that close to our table. It was a lot of back n forth just to get people food. The place wasn’t busy, no reason for some of this.
It was our second time to visit Mitchell's. We had a very nice experience; the food was very good as was the atmosphere. The service was outstanding. I had a Filet and my wife had a Ribeye, both steaks were cooked to request and very good. We shared Calamari and Oysters for appetizers and mashed potatoes as a sider. All were delicious. Overall we had a great meal. We will return again in the future.
Negative Note: The women's bathroom was left ignored by the staff. The toilets were unclean with TP laying all over the floor and two of the three toilets having no TP. There was a single roll sitting on the sink. Not what you'd expect from this type of restaurant.
I was pleased with all except when I received the check. I friend asked if she could have some horseradish sauce which she received with no problem, however when I received the check I was charged $4.00 for a small serving of horseradish. The manager finally took it off the check, however that is not the point. The point is, I frequent many fine restaurants in Columbus and have NEVER been charged for horseradish before. When I asked the waitress if I ordered ketchup would you have charged me she said no. My next question was how can you charge me for the horseradish. She said the chef told her to. I feel that this was unprofessional and have told this story to my friends and they put your restaurant on their do not go to list. This is a sad commentary for a Mitchell restaurant.
For this level of restaurant the matridee was poor, not assisting with seats and not handing out or explaining the menu. The servers were very good, but the length of time between courses was too long. The food was hot and miss. The main courses were excellent, but the side dishes were not very good.
Hostess had an attitude-when we asked to be moved-tried to seat us by the kitchen. She said she couldn't move us. I asked to speak to the manager and she sat us at another table. She was not friendly at all! Room was too dark to see our menus. Service was very, very slow. Appetizers were very, very small! Food was ok. We will not go back! Best steak place is JGilberts and Mitchells at Easton! Now wonder, Cameron Mitchell sold this location-it sucks
The service was excellent. Attention to occasion details were greatly appreciated. The filet was very good. The vegetable sides were too cool as served. The Manhattan was really good. Except for the veggies that had been allowed to cool too much before serving, it was a pleasant, enjoyable experience.
We were very disappointed - loud no privacy, sitting on top of one another . Food was mediocre for the price . Service was warm did not go out of their way to see if we wanted more wine etc . We are new to Columbus and we will certainly look for better steakhouse options .
I'm typically against New Year's Eve dining as it often results in a below average experience but Mitchell's exceeded my expectations. The prices were fair and on par with a top steakhouse. I actually found them more reasonable than a recent trip to Smith & Wollensky. Bottle of wine, two steaks, and a shared side for about $160 before tip. Our steaks were prepared perfectly to temperature and the side was easily enough for two people. Enjoyed the experience and we will definitely return to Mitchell's for steak cravings in the future.
First , I have a mixed review. To be fair the steak was very very good. The bread , French onion soup, coffee were very good as well. Where the marked was missed was on the chop chop salad and the baked potato. For a $9 salad the greens should be the crispest and greenest salad. Basically I could of got bagged lettuce for .99 and been the same. Again for a baked potato at $8 it should of been a good size potato. The sea salt was a good touch though.
Downtown is a better location. The room we were in had a fire place that didn't work. They put water softener salt on the side walk and made it harder to walk that if it was iced! The hat check person didn't have change for a tip--took 5 minutes to get--gave her a $5 tip and she never thanked me.
The food is good--no doubt about that!
The first not bad thing is the confusion regarding Cameron Mitchell gift cards. 3 Out the 4 Mitchell gift cards were not accepted at this “ cameron Mitchell” restaurant. It’s deceptive. If they are not accepted take his name off the restaurant or the gift card. We weren’t the only table that had gift card issues.
Overall: Food quality not near what we're accustomed to... I've been taking my family (6 of us) to Mitchell's for the past five Christmases - Every year since the restaurant started taking reservations for Christmas Day. We also eat at Mitchell's each year for our anniversary & our birthdays. This was by far the lowest quality food and the lowest customer service we've ever experienced - I am more than happy to pay the high menu prices so long as there is also high quality food & service, but that wasn't the case this time. It was Christmas, so everyone tried to remain positive while there, but we were all truly disappointed...
Didn't start off well - the hostesses were not very professional, didn't ask to take our coats, however asked everyone following us. Daughter did check the coats, we still tipped them.
Made my reservation over a week ago, had to wait over 20 minutes to get seated - guessing they sat some folks ahead of us without reservations. Reservations for a reason.
Service from our waiter was fine - until he packaged the food. He put all the filets together - never did that before. Guess they are cutting back on containers?
Not a great experience.
Mitchell's is always hit and miss, wish it hit the mark more often.
