Some of our most memorable family and friend dinners have been there and are due to the quiet ambience for talking, the well prepared food and the attentive but not intrusive wait staff. Well done as always
The experience was disappointing. The service was slow. Typically, water and bread are served relatively soon after being seated. We had to ask. The server said that there should have been someone to do that. That person never came. The server had to do it. The oysters rockerfeller were average at best. My daughter ordered the lamb. After we finished our appetizers, the server came by to say that they were out of lamb. How is that possible? Three of us ordered steaks prepared at the same temperature. All three were at different temperatures. The side dishes were warm, not hot as one would expect. Maybe it was just a bad night for them, but I won't be back.
New York strip was seasoned and cooked perfectly as was my daughter's filet, mashed potatoes were excellent, hand cut French fries were seasoned nicely. We dined early (5:30) so there were few patrons so noise level was low. Service was exemplary, took my daughter here for 16th birthday dinner(john our server made her night) Overall was a very pleasant experience and would recommend it
I have been to this restaurant on numerous occasions. This evening we dined with another couple. We all ordered steaks; three ribeyes and a filet. Two steaks were prepared as ordered; to perfection. Two were drastically undercooked per order. When pointed out, the wait staff responded appropriately. Unfortunately, in one case, the steak had to be returned a second time. The manger came to our table twice to apologize and offered to take the steaks off our bill, which they did. In addition, he offered deserts for all at no cost.
As I indicated, this experience was an anomaly and the restaurant when well above to accommodate us for our inconvenience. We will return as this staff handled everything with class. Kudo’s to management!
Steaks and salads were excellent. Server was knowledgeable and attentive. Sides were good, but nothing spectacular that stood out.
One of the best steaks I've ever had.
Birthday celebration, they decorated the table and gave a birthday dessert on the house. Perfect evening out, no complaints.
Service was outstanding. Exactly what you would expect from this type of dining. The Manager checked in with us 3 times to make sure all was well. Our server was perfect. Could not have a better dining experience.
Nice private room given to us but was not requested. I had stated it was a business meal at time of reservation and they thought it would be a nice room for a business meal. Service was not great...I had to keep telling the person coming in to fill water that we needed our waiter to come in and take appetizer order and then again for food order. Frustrating when you are trying to entertain customers. Food was good...brussel sprout side dish very nice. If you don't get good service on top of great food, it kind of ruins the entire experience.
Dined with my wife and daughter while visiting her for the weekend from California. Wife ordered a 187.5 of Moet&Chandon Rose as an aperitif, and they brought M&C brut instead. Sent that back and instead they brought Domaine Chandon Rose (at the price the wine list quoted for the Moet rose) so we had them just bring back the brut. Wife and daughter both ordered small filet and I ordered New York Steak au poivre (which the menu touted as pepper crusted with brandy peppercorn sauce. Steaks came and my daughter’s steak was so over-salted she could barely eat it (and we usually cook steak with a fair amount of salt). My steak came as just a grilled NY - no pepper crust, no sauce. Waitress said it was right - the pepper was rubbed into the steak and it was marinated in the sauce. I tasted it and clearly it was not au poivre. Waitress said she was sure it was right but if I wasn’t happy she would definitely take it back and have the kitchen check. Same steak came back 5 minutes later - they had ground some pepper over it and put a little sauce on it, and of course it was now cold. Later when the manager came by and asked if everything was great, we told him “not really” and described the issues. He went and investigated and came back saying that he’d told the cooks to be more careful with the seasoning and that my steak was indeed not au poivre - mistake by the kitchen. When I told him that the waitress had claimed differently and repeated her line about it being marinated, he told me he would be very surprised if she had said that because she had worked there a long time and knew better. In the end, my daughter left a third of her small steak behind, and the manager comp’d my steak, but our dinner out while visiting our daughter for the weekend most of the way across the country was ruined.
Great experience and food
Ordered steak medium rare. It came out medium well. Not what I would expect from a high end steak house. Food was decent, but not great.
The service was outstanding. If not for Sierra, we would have complained and insisted on concluding our meal. The seafood tower was okay but nothing spectacular. The raw oysters were mangled by the shucker and full of shell. The rest, lobster, shrimp and king crab were a little too cold almost semi frozen. (Understanding that there’s a fine line between thawing too much and avoiding that soggy taste but yet enough that it’s not freezing). The most disappointing experience about the meal was the $56.00 steak. For this price, when ordering a medium, it shouldn’t come out medium well. True we weren’t charged for the steak as we shouldn’t have been because when the GM brought back another steak, it was rare!! My wife was too embarrassed to send it back so instead we boxed it up. We were truly disappointed with our experience, especially since it was our anniversary. Both my son and daughter have visited this establishment while visiting Columbus last summer and had a good experience. This is why we thought we’d give it a try.
We went to The restaurant weekend after Valentines Day. Great food, nice service, and live the atmosphere.
Food and service were fantastic, bathrooms were disgusting.
Food was very good. Portions...meh. However the staff was NOT very friendly. When I pay this kind of money for a nice dinner, it’s expected the service would be top notch. Waitress acted bothered every time she decided to stop by. Dropped off bill without even asking if we wanted coffe or anything. Found out the restaurant no longer owned by Cameron Mitchell. Guess that explains it. Will I be back. Nope.
Dinner was fabulous as it always is when I eat there! We kind of struggled to read the menu as the lighting for Our table was a little too low. Our server was outstanding. Can’t wait to go back.
great atmosphere, food and our sever was awesome !
perfect food，perfect wine and perfect service
Had an extra hour wait in spite of a reservation
Food was awful, I'm never going there again. The waiter at the bar messed up our order then claimed we made the wrong order
First of all the food was not bad my sea bass was excellent however my bf steak went back twice. The decor is absolutely horrendous it literally hasn’t changed since it was designed in 82 no joke. Everyone seemed to be moving about in a way that was very much laxisidasical considering it was packed on Valentine’s Day. Our server was polite and didn’t exactly seemed rushed but you could tell he was having teouble keeping up and I think he even took our table although I don’t believe it to be in his section. Which may have been the reason we didn’t see him very often to request or ask questions about anything. Had a great time minus a few setbacks.
Although it was an awesome experience as always, wait staff were awesome as well, but we found the music to be a bit too loud this time. Unable to have a personal conversation due to trying to speak up loud over the music and those who also tried to speak loud to be heard by their parties. Which also causes wait staff talk loud among them.
Overall great food and good service
Not a place to just grab dinner unless you have a fat wallet even for 2 people
We had a wonderful server/service!
We have been to Mitchell’s before, and always had a good meal. Love the atmosphere and service was good. My husband got a bone in filet. It was very good. Also got the Spinach Salad. That was outstanding! Cocktail ‘s and wine were very good.
However, my meal last night was less than stellar. I ordered the Sea Bass, and well, it tasted fishy. And very salty. Also ordered the Creamed Spinach. It was loaded with so much parmesan cheese we couldn’t even taste the spinach.
Maybe it was just an off night , but with so many new dining choices in Columbus, we will be hard pressed to return.
It was very nice.
- Seafood tower was frozen.
- Service was awful.
- Steaks were good but that was about it from the experience.
It was ok. Nothing special really. Feels like it’s trying to be a fine dining restaurant. But the food and service don’t quite live up to that. There are better options in the city.
Fabulous food, wonderful wait staff. The steak was perfectly prepared the Oysters Rockefeller were deviously and the wine was perfect!
One word - Awesome!
The Scottish Salmon was delish! Definitely coming back
Fancy Steak place. Beer selection is poor, but you're not going here for beer. Steak was good. Service was great. Be prepared to spend $$.
The best way to describe Mitchells’s is “fine”. It’s decent food, with OK service, but don’t expect to be blown away.
We started off ordering a bottle of still water for the table. Our waiter told us that he will try his best from keeping the rest of the staff from refilling with tap water, but if someone tries make sure to tell them not to. Ok.
A sure sign of a next level restaurant is when they can make substitutions for allergies and the dish still holds its own - they are prepared with the right ingredients. Other restaurants, when they say they can prepare a dish gluten-free, that just means they leave out the ingredients with gluten.
We ordered the Tuna Poké - seemed like something different and interesting. Unfortunately when we asked for gluten free, the dish was obviously missing some key ingredients and was very heavy on citrus. Would not order it again.
The wedge salads were above average - I thought the Blue cheese in the dressing was quite good.
The Ribeyes were cooked to the right temperature and the au poivre sauce was good, but served a bit cold. If I’m being picky, the potatoes were not piping hot, and the steaks felt like they had sat too long after coming off the grill. We did not have dessert.
There were other minor glitches; having to ask for the white wine after our appetizer was already on the table. Severs not knowing if some items were gluten free or not.
Overall it was a “fine” meal, nothing great, but certainly not bad. Pound-for-pound, I would go with one of the higher-end Cameron Mitchell restaurants in Columbus any day.
Love the atmosphere and our server was perfect. The food was amazing and so was the Kentucky 75. Dessert was also delicious and we got a little cheesecake on the house for my birthday :) a treat for sure
Went to Mitchell’s after seeing the Columbus Orchestra and it was the perfect way to end the night! The food was absolutely incredible and the service was top notch. Our server, David, was very helpful and did an amazing job making sure we enjoyed ourselves. This was my first time eating at Mitchell’s but it certainly won’t be the last!
It was wonderful. Lacey was amazing.
I have dined in many fine restaurants in many different states and on several cruises. Hands down, this was one of, if not the best, dining experienceI have ever had. From the excellent waiter, Mykel, too the perfectly prepare Shrimp Cocktail, to the Shrimp Scampi and Petite Filet Oscar. Beyond words. Attended for a birthday celebration, they offered the birthday dessert to the one celebrating the birthday. Fantastic experience from start to finish.
We visited Mitchell’s for Restaurant Week. Everything— service, food and ambiance—were first rate.
