Mitchell's Steakhouse - Columbus Downtown Ratings and Reviews
The service was outstanding. If not for Sierra, we would have complained and insisted on concluding our meal. The seafood tower was okay but nothing spectacular. The raw oysters were mangled by the shucker and full of shell. The rest, lobster, shrimp and king crab were a little too cold almost semi frozen. (Understanding that there’s a fine line between thawing too much and avoiding that soggy taste but yet enough that it’s not freezing). The most disappointing experience about the meal was the $56.00 steak. For this price, when ordering a medium, it shouldn’t come out medium well. True we weren’t charged for the steak as we shouldn’t have been because when the GM brought back another steak, it was rare!! My wife was too embarrassed to send it back so instead we boxed it up. We were truly disappointed with our experience, especially since it was our anniversary. Both my son and daughter have visited this establishment while visiting Columbus last summer and had a good experience. This is why we thought we’d give it a try.
Food was very good. Portions...meh. However the staff was NOT very friendly. When I pay this kind of money for a nice dinner, it’s expected the service would be top notch. Waitress acted bothered every time she decided to stop by. Dropped off bill without even asking if we wanted coffe or anything. Found out the restaurant no longer owned by Cameron Mitchell. Guess that explains it. Will I be back. Nope.
First of all the food was not bad my sea bass was excellent however my bf steak went back twice. The decor is absolutely horrendous it literally hasn’t changed since it was designed in 82 no joke. Everyone seemed to be moving about in a way that was very much laxisidasical considering it was packed on Valentine’s Day. Our server was polite and didn’t exactly seemed rushed but you could tell he was having teouble keeping up and I think he even took our table although I don’t believe it to be in his section. Which may have been the reason we didn’t see him very often to request or ask questions about anything. Had a great time minus a few setbacks.
Although it was an awesome experience as always, wait staff were awesome as well, but we found the music to be a bit too loud this time. Unable to have a personal conversation due to trying to speak up loud over the music and those who also tried to speak loud to be heard by their parties. Which also causes wait staff talk loud among them.
We have been to Mitchell’s before, and always had a good meal. Love the atmosphere and service was good. My husband got a bone in filet. It was very good. Also got the Spinach Salad. That was outstanding! Cocktail ‘s and wine were very good.
However, my meal last night was less than stellar. I ordered the Sea Bass, and well, it tasted fishy. And very salty. Also ordered the Creamed Spinach. It was loaded with so much parmesan cheese we couldn’t even taste the spinach.
Maybe it was just an off night , but with so many new dining choices in Columbus, we will be hard pressed to return.
The best way to describe Mitchells’s is “fine”. It’s decent food, with OK service, but don’t expect to be blown away.
We started off ordering a bottle of still water for the table. Our waiter told us that he will try his best from keeping the rest of the staff from refilling with tap water, but if someone tries make sure to tell them not to. Ok.
A sure sign of a next level restaurant is when they can make substitutions for allergies and the dish still holds its own - they are prepared with the right ingredients. Other restaurants, when they say they can prepare a dish gluten-free, that just means they leave out the ingredients with gluten.
We ordered the Tuna Poké - seemed like something different and interesting. Unfortunately when we asked for gluten free, the dish was obviously missing some key ingredients and was very heavy on citrus. Would not order it again.
The wedge salads were above average - I thought the Blue cheese in the dressing was quite good.
The Ribeyes were cooked to the right temperature and the au poivre sauce was good, but served a bit cold. If I’m being picky, the potatoes were not piping hot, and the steaks felt like they had sat too long after coming off the grill. We did not have dessert.
There were other minor glitches; having to ask for the white wine after our appetizer was already on the table. Severs not knowing if some items were gluten free or not.
Overall it was a “fine” meal, nothing great, but certainly not bad. Pound-for-pound, I would go with one of the higher-end Cameron Mitchell restaurants in Columbus any day.
Went to Mitchell’s after seeing the Columbus Orchestra and it was the perfect way to end the night! The food was absolutely incredible and the service was top notch. Our server, David, was very helpful and did an amazing job making sure we enjoyed ourselves. This was my first time eating at Mitchell’s but it certainly won’t be the last!
I have dined in many fine restaurants in many different states and on several cruises. Hands down, this was one of, if not the best, dining experienceI have ever had. From the excellent waiter, Mykel, too the perfectly prepare Shrimp Cocktail, to the Shrimp Scampi and Petite Filet Oscar. Beyond words. Attended for a birthday celebration, they offered the birthday dessert to the one celebrating the birthday. Fantastic experience from start to finish.
This was our first time at the Downtown location. We loved it! The restaurant is beautiful, high ceilings, spacious and a really cool bar.
Our server was great and the steaks were excellent.
We had a delicious bottle of red wine and the evening was great. Highly recommend this location.
We had dinner prior to the Phantom of the Opera. We had reservations and sat immediately, service was great as well as the food. They were not busy at all and knew we had theatre tickets. We had been there 45 min from when we ordered to get our main meal, which we had to ask for the check at that time. We arrived 1.5 hrs prior to the show and felt that would be ample. The server was great and understood our concern. I do recommend if you are not on a time limit. Also, 3 other customers tried to use Cameron Mitchell gift cards at which they were told when it was time to pay that the company was bought out by Ruth’s Chris 10 years ago. Maybe a rebranding or renaming would be helpful. After 10 years and 3 tables sitting near us was unaware, this could be an issue if someone didn’t have enough funds to pay for their meal.
The restaurant was extremely busy - we had to wait just over an hour for our entrees. We were on a time crunch because we were attending a show and we gave ourselves what we thought was plenty of time but it turned out we had to rush and were not able to order dessert. The food was not super hot either - pretty sure it could have been brought out 5 or 10 minutes earlier.
Food was delicious! Great service! Best steak I have had in a while! I have a pepper allergy and the waiter replaced the side I had ordered with one I was able to have. Unfortunately, there aren’t a lot of items without pepper. The rest of the table enjoyed the other sides and they were delicious as well. Wish we could have stayed for dessert, but we were going to a play. We all had a great time.
