If you’re going to go to one of Mitchell’s restaurants, Ocean Club had much better food, better environment and service. I would not return to the downtown location.
We went for restaurant week, had calamari, braised short rib, salmon. Sadly disappointed. Calamari was cold and tastes like fish sticks, the braised short rib was lukewarm and the gnocchi it came with was cold and the meat was mostly fat, the saks was watery and lacked flavor. My fiance and I were both sad about our food, didn't finish it. The only thing we liked was the dessert.
Really enjoy the atmosphere and the service was great.
This was my 1st time dining at this restaurant. And what a perfect time to go during restaurant week. The food was amazing and very fulfilling. The staff was energetic and gave great customer service. The food came out hot and quickly. There is nothing negative I have to say about this restaurant. I will definitely be returning!!!!
Overall a good experience. The steaks were outstanding. The Brussel sprouts should have been sent back but dining partner did not want to. I like vegetables crisp but these were severely undercooked.
Three out of four of the steaks that we ordered were very dry and they ranged in temperature from two mediums and one well done. The server was very nice and the ambiance was lovely but the main purpose behind coming to this restaurant was the steak.
We had not been to Mitchell's downtown for a few years. We were disappointed because it used to be so great! We were there at 7:30pm on Friday night and it was dead- was less than half full; server was good, but getting drinks from bar and food from kitchen was very slow; food was good, but not great. It was about 10pm before we finished. Are they having trouble getting staff or what?
Service seemed to be hit or miss. Ours were fine others seem to be much slower. Overall the food was fine
But my shrimp was rubbery and one of my wife’s petite
Filet seemed like they pieces two pieces together,
The restaurant itself was beautiful but if given the choice would not return
Best flavor of steaks we've ever had. Mashed potatoe side was very unimpressive and bland. Would have liked to had some more creative sides options. Wedge salad was incredible, but very stingy on the blue cheese and dressing - but unbelievablly good.
We were SO disappointed. Our manhattans came without cherries. Our steaks were bland but cooked well. The only bright spot was our server Kaylee - who did a fantastic job. We would definitely not go back and this has been a favorite spot for over a decade.
Too many tables per server meant rushed service. Shrimp cocktail appetizer wasn’t delivered before the salad. We were celebrating an anniversary and it was never acknowledged. The check was delivered without asking about dessert. Steaks were very good.
Ribeye was very tough and not prepared as requested.
Great meal. Classic steakhouse where service was just as good as the meal. Very professional staff. Steaks were perfectly cooked, sides were generous. Definitely will visit again next time I am in Columbus.

Good food! The decor in the restaurant is really cool. Has a grand feel to it. Food was good, but as is the norm, steakhouse pricing is a little much. But knew that going in. Either way great experience overall.
Great atmosphere! Can't wait to return. Bar looked amazing and looking forward to trying some of their cocktails.
My fiance and I had a great time. Our steaks were excellent. He had the wagyu and I had the Oscar style filet. Melt like butter in our mouths. Our server was great!!! Will return!
Things have really changed at Mitchell’s. 7 of 9 of our party got steaks, the server didn’t even come back & verify that they were cooked properly. It wasn’t bad, but it sure wasn’t what you expect when paying those prices.

We were disappointed in our experience this trip to Mitchells. We indicated in our online reservation this was our 39th Anniversary and requested a secluded, quite table. the staff made no reference to our special occasion and place us at a location right on the main entry to the dining room where everyone that entered walked by. We were quite taken back by the "dress code" of other diners. We have dined at Mitchells several other times and it has always been a nice place to celebrate special event. Tank tops and short shorts and men with ball caps in the dining room were not part of prior visits.
Even the service has slipped as empty dishes remained on the table as our server walked by numerous times before they were removed.
We have always liked going downtown to celebrate our special events, I guess we will
have to look else where to celebrate in the future.
Food was great, especially the New York steak au poivre and the martinis...

Dinner was good, server was awesome , value was fair, would definitely go back sometime. Didn’t set off fireworks but I’d do it again for something different.
Poor food quality.
When you go to a restaurant like this one you expect better than average service. While the waiter was personable and probably overworked, we did wait 15 minutes after being seated to take our drink order. The steaks while of a great quality were not cooked to specifications in 3 cases ( Medium well. etc)
Would I go back? Probably not. There are too many other quality steak houses in Columbus at the same or less price.
Let me repeat where I started. This is not a bad steak house. When you are paying their prices you just expect more.

We took my daughter out for a celebration of her graduation from college. The bread is crispy, hot, and delicious. The staff are kind and very competent. I had the lamb chops and they were able to make a sweet minty sauce for them from figs and peppermint that set them off to perfection. The toast with mushrooms is umami and just so good! Calamari was crispy with a little heat from the aioli sauce. My daughter’s aunt was able to get her filet there as perfect and rare as she likes. Would definitely dine there again!
We had great food and really good service. It was handy to have the fixed three-course meal that was mostly what we were looking for. Only negative, when I booked I mentioned that we would be celebrating our anniversary but nothing was even said to us about it. Not going to stop us from going back again though.
Our meal was absolutely delicious, and the service was outstanding. The dining area was sufficiently spaced, and we had a lovely experience.
Used to be such a cool vibe. Now just old and tired looking. Front entrance littered and dead plants in pots. Interior warn out. Server was good but busy/not around much. Food was ok...everything very salty.
Won’t be going back. Bummer.
The service was great - our server was wonderful. The lobster bisque was very good, but the filets we all ordered was overly salty. They were cooked well, but the salty taste was just not good.
While I enjoyed the food everything was up to par as expected. We did not get the same experience as the Ocean Club has provided us.

This was not a memorable experience. Very average at best. Asparagus was tough, bisque was thin, and my "wagyu" strip was way too salty. And not wagyu!
This was Texas Roadhouse quality at Jeff Ruby prices.
Open table had our reservation but Mitchell’s did not! We waited for 20 mins for a table. Our waiter Kelseys service was very poor as she was not friendly and acted as if she was in a rush the whole time. She then acted as if she forgot we were suppose to get dessert with our meals.
The food was amazing. The drinks are really good. My service was outstanding & very speedy. Definitely recommend it.
Steaks are still amazing but the mashed potatoes seemed to be instant and the portions have been drastically reduced since before Covid. The prices are much higher also, I guess the sign of the times!
