Mitchell's did not disappoint: The only gift requested from my youngest for his 13th birthday was 'I want just dad to take me out for a good steak dinner". When we arrived at Mitchell's they were ready for us and made his birthday dinner special. From his first bite of the Crispy Pork Belly Skewers, through the Sea Salt Baked Potato, 14oz Prime New York Strip and to the last bite of Lava Cake à la mode with a candle in it, he was in heaven. It was a fun dinner chatting with him and watching him experiencing all the amazing flavors. His review "That was the best meal I have ever had!"
We went for our anniversary and it was a really nice evening! The place is quite nice and the food was amazing! We will definitely be going back
My steak was ordered medium rare and it came out medium but I was hungry and ate. As I was cutting into second half it was more well done and I didn t want to finish it after eating two more bites. They offered desert for free and to make another steak but it was too late. When I paid the bill they took 12$ off a 65$ dollar steak. I was surprised a steakhouse couldn t get it right even though “it happens”. I d think they could use a thermometer before bringing it out. Not sure? Just thinking this place could be done better even after telling manager.
Mitchell's Steakhouse is the best restaurant in Columbus and I'm always glad to bring my family and friends there for the celebrations of life.
Beat steak in town for sure.
Excellent meal and service! Definitely dine there again and recommend to others. Thanks for a great evening!
My family and I have been going to Mitchells for several years when we have a downtown event. The past few years I have gone maybe twice a year. Our service and prompt meal delivery has always been excellent. The prices seem high to me. This past week I had a 7 ounce Fillet Oscar for $47.00, the steak was prepared as I ordered, the crab meat and bearnaise was a bit on the sparse side, but it was still very good. My glass of rose champagne was 15.00 and our potatoes were 14.00. We go to Hyde Park quite often as it is in our neighborhood- I feel as if the overall quality is better at Hyde Park- I THINK the prices are a bit lower but to be fair to Mitchells - I have not made a side by side comparison.
This restaurant has not change it's interiors for many years- the overall ambiance is very dated. The tall acoustical panels in earth tones are bright and old looking, the dark ceilings, dark colors, out of date bathrooms, old carpet.....I don't believe one can charge top top dollar with an old and tired environment.
The lunch menu was good and fairly priced. However, my only disappointment was having to fight off flying insects.
Awesome food and service (Jamie)
Excellent wine recommendations and education. Our waiter, Ben, created a true dining experience. He walked us through a wine tasting, offered various selections, and made our special requests happen. It was an excellent evening.
The service has went way down hill. If you expect someone to pay $500 for a dinner then you better step up your staff. We had to keep reminding our waiter to bring our items that we ordered
First time and very disappointed.
Ordered a New York strip steak medium rare and it came out medium well. Ordered coffee when the dessert came out and never got it. Our waiter seemed to disappear towards the end of the meal.
Excellent service. Server was knowledgeable about the menu, and was able to customize our experience due to specific preferences ... iE special non-alcoholic Mocktails
The food was good and cooked well but not very exciting. The menu included standard steak house fare, nothing more or less. The atmosphere was almost eerie, the place was dead on a Friday night. It felt like they are catering to an older generation, it doesn't really hold up to the newer generation of fine dining restaurants. Felt like it was trading off the Cameron Mitchell name (who no longer owns this restaurant) and stuck in the past.
We had an outstanding experience from the time we walked in the door until we left. The hostess was amazing, so pleasant and sat us at the perfect table. Our waiter,David was superb a combination of professional and had a delightful personality. The food was amazing. The atmosphere was quiet and romantic.
Good food and great service. Excellent evening out.
It was a disappointing experience. We have come to Mitchell’s in the past for special occasions. I proposed to my wife there and we have celebrated multiple wedding anniversary’s in the past there as well. When we arrived, we were sat at a table of four and we had to clean the table service for the other two place settings ourselves. We had two separate wine glasses that were dirty. It was awhile before our waiter took our order. We ordered two martinis and a half dozen oysters. The oysters were great, but the martinis were not made well. The server never asked about our drinks and tried to take our Oysters before we were done with them. Another employee then brought our steaks and sides after a substantial wait. My steak was bland and my side of potatoes was cold upon arrival. We ordered a bottle of wine, but had to wait until our food arrived to order it as no one checked on us for quite awhile. Then we had to wait for the wine before we started to eat our main course. No one came even once to check on us until we were done with our food. We spent close to $300 at Mitchell’s and both my wife and I made the comment that we would not be back. We can spend that money on better food and service at Jeff Ruby’s or Hyde Park. The food was underwhelming, which was disappointing. But the lack of service or caring was what really left a bad taste in my mouth. A very disappointed former customers.
Thanks so much for making our engagement memorable!!!
Food was out of this world! Restaurant appears to be a bit outdated, service was a tad bit slow, but not to the point of a complaint.
The server was very knowledgeable, but she was also very slow. The meal started off well, we were a 9 top celebrating my graduation. However, as the meal progressed and she was done making sales, the service instantly dropped to significantly below average. I have worked in fine dining so I am aware of how the service should be.
Two major points that threw me off... (I didn’t complain and it’s not like I am butthurt about it but this is simply my analysis)
1. Unless they did so when I was in the restroom briefly, a manager never stopped by and asked us how we were doing.
2. The server never stopped by and asked how our food was once we got it.
My water went empty halfway through my meal and I had to use my father’s glass until the SA finally refilled me. After that, the SA was more on top of water. She probably realized she was slacking when there were 4 almost empty or empty glasses on the table.
The worst part was waiting for them to finish clearing and then get the check. The server also left plates next to the table when boxing in front of us. Not a big deal but definitely lazy. It’s not something I care much about but I’m shocked the manager did not flip out.
Overall it was decent. No major complaints but if I were not on my way to graduate school I would go apply tomorrow as a server because I know I would be better than her. We left an 18% tip. We generally tip 25% with excellent service. Manager needs to light a fire under employee’s butts. Way too lax.
Very friendly staff and great service. Called them to reserve a table I told them it's for a batchelor party. When we walked to the front of the restaurant, they welcomed us at the door and brought us to a private room usually used to executive meetings but accomodated us. Treated us really special. I told them I was vegan ( I was the best man but the groom loved steak). They created a special meatless dish for me that wasn't on the menu that was very delicious. Not alot of places do that. Little accomodations like that go a long way from being a good restaurant to great.
Manager came over and introduced himself.
Great atmosphere to have few laughs & still focus on business!
great restaurant week experiencd
Too loud for a business dinner of groups larger than 4 unless you book private room.
Very underwhelming. I bring a group here once a year and everyone looks forward to it. This year we all felt that the service and meal were not up to the level of our past experiences. The steaks were bland and 2 out of 3 were over cooked. The jalapeño scalloped potatoes had no flavor. We did enjoy the calamari app and the cheesecake for dessert. However I don’t think it was worth the $400 we spent (including wine).
Great food and service
They just couldn’t cook the food right.
I have been coming here for years when I visit Columbus. It used to be the highlight of the trip. The service was always slow, but the food made up for it. Not anymore, no the only good thing is the great wine by the glass selection. What a disappointment. Will have to find a new go to spot.
Overall, a very pleasant night out attending this establishment. Very good food, but in all honesty the calamari was better than my cowboy ribeye steak. But again, overall it was a quiet, enjoyable meal.
Made a reservation for my son’s 9th birthday...had tickets to the Columbus Clippers game..:so we had to be done by a certain time.
They were aware of everything, didn’t spoil the surprise for my son...we had 3 filets that were outstanding!!! The waiter and the General Manager were phenomenal!!!
The valet didn’t start until 5pm...they arranged for parking so we walked right out to the car and were at the game on time!
This was incredibly important because the Clippers put a Birthday message on the scoreboard.
Great setting. Food came out perfect. Top of the line.
We had a wonderful time! Everyone was so nice and friendly. We were allowed plenty of rime to enjoy our drinks, starters and main course! Since it was a birthday they provided dessert! And Brittany , our server was amazing!
It is really the only steakhouse local to that area so you are out of good comparables. The octopus was chewy and not prepared properly prior to cooking and serving. Steak is moderate tasting at best and I had the filet. Waitress was great. Sides variety were pretty good and desert menu is decent also. But I judge a steak place on its steak and again, decent at best
Excellent service as always! Steaks were excellent
It was very nice and he food was great ! Thank you
David was an amazing server. The food was excellent as always.
This is not Cameron’s anymore! Same menu and good food, pricey.
Online reservation was completely inaccurate. I tried multiple times but only 4:30 and 8:30 available. When I got there place was empty all the way through 6:30
