Mitchell's Fish Market - Winter Park - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
I had the stuffed cod which was delicious. It came with too large a serving of mashed potatoes and too small a serving of asparagus (3 spears). I wished I'd been offered an alternative for the vegetables. The fish was well prepared. My husband really enjoyed his crab stuffed flounder. He felt it was a wonderful option if you want a good seafood dinner. I had tea after dinner; there were nice options to choose from. For 3 entrees, no appetizer, no wine or alcoholic drinks and 1 dessert it cost approximately $120.
Booths were comfortable and private. Decor was very nice and classy looking. Low noise was very nice as well. Food was good to very good but not outstanding.
Seafood trio was good. Shrimp were small and overdone but tasty. Crab cake was very good but there were a couple of small pieces of shell. The salmon was prepared a bit well done to my taste. The waiter should have asked how I wanted it. The jambalaya rice was excellent.
Stuffed cod was very good and prepared as we ordered it.
Stuffed flounder was very good.
Overall we enjoyed the dinner and will go back.
We've had good meals at other Mitchell's Fish Markets in the past. The food took a long time to come out, which would have been fine except 2/4 fish were cold, 1 was really overcooked (ahi sushi was fully cooked), and all of the sides were cold. Not lukewarm, cold. They ultimately replaced the meals and sides, and they were okay. Note that the only thing they do for a birthday is put happy birthday on the menu. We thought maybe they'd bring a dessert or something, especially after the poor meals, but they didn't do anything.
The restaurant was pretty empty for a Saturday night, so perhaps that should have been a sign that the quality has gone way down.
We went to Mitchell's with out of town guests and were looking forward to a relaxing dinner. We arrived at 6:40 pm. The waiter took our orders which included soups and salads. One hour later we had not received any food. Around us other patrons were served and completed their meals. We asked the waiter where our food was and he said that he would check. He never returned. We asked to speak to the manager who seemed ill-prepared to handle our problem. He asked what he could do for us. We scheduled our dinner so that we could have plenty of time to enjoy our meals before attending a 9:00 pm performance in downtown Orlando. We were very upset that we hadn't had any food by 7:45 and knew that even if we were served by 8:00 pm we would have to rush eating in order to be on time for the performance. We left Mitchell's without eating and will never return to this restaurant because of their unprofessionalism and lack of customer service.
First and last experience. Waited 10 minutes for a server. Waited another 15 minutes for our drinks. When the first drinks came the wine was served cold. Never heard of this. We had to find the waiter to order another drink. We order our meals and this took 30 minutes. The lobsters were served with no drawn butter. Asparagus was ordered well done and cooked soft. This came out raw. Had to ask the manager to bring drawn butter and lemon. My lobster was raw and called the waiter to let him know. He took the lobster back and had the chef cook the lobster more, instead of bringing me a new tail. The manager even admitted they dropped the ball. They could have at least gave us a comp. We then had to wait for our check. Other then this fiasco, we had a wonderful evening of conversation.
Upon arrival the hostess could not find my reservation and asked that I duplicate the OpenTable request. That did not work, after being seated I called open table and it was confirmed my reservation was received. The waitress brought out our drinks and spilled beer all over my husbands seat. If it were not for his fast reaction it would have been all over his lap.
Great variety of fresh seafood and menu items. Very limited selection for non fish eater but the place is called "Fish Market". Second time here and food was very well prepared and tasted so fresh you would thing the ocean was right behind the kitchen door.
They ran out of an entree we ordered (we were a party of 5) and they waited to tell us until we were expecting our dinner to finally arrive. Had to ask multiple times for bread and our beverages. Everything took forever and the server was clueless to customer service. The place was almost empty when we were seated before 6:30pm and the manager was as clueless as the server on what customer service is. We live local and decided to try it out. Finally got our bill after 8:30pm. Won't return.
Always enjoy Mitchell's. It is our "go to" place before Orlando Shakes or similar events in that area. We like the food, the service, the location, to include valet or readily available self-parking. Happy hour specials (drinks and appetizers) are pretty good, but you do have to sit in the bar area to take advantage of them--which is still quite pleasant. Our server, Chris, was attentive without intruding on our conversation. My wife ordered the ribeye, medium rare. It was right on the borderline of being overdone. The cut was good and flavorful, so she opted to keep it, despite our server's request to take it back. The manager came over quickly, again offering to redo the steak, but my wife declined. We appreciated their concern very much. I had the Atlantic Salmon grilled--delicious and done to perfection. Give Mitchell's a try.
I made my reservation with open table for 10:00 pm. I arrived to the restaurant at 10:04 and gave my name to the hostess. The answer? "We are closed, there is a Cheesecake Factory accross the street". I explained I had a reservation for 10:00 pm. "We close our kitchen at 10pm".
Honestly, this place has terrible customer service. Open, or closed. That is not the way to reply to people.
It was Valentine's Day so it was 4 of us (2 couples). I'm a "Landry's member (11016002077935) and I had a reservation. We had to wait a bit passed the reservation time (not a big deal), but we had the table right outside kitchen and bathroom. I normally would have "declined" that table; however we were hungry and already had to wait.
We probably should have told the waiter what we were going to give him as a tip first maybe he would have worked a little bit harder. It was a disaster the food was acceptable but the service was an absolute disaster I thought it was an upscale restaurant I had no idea it was upscale from McDonald's it was definitely not a high-end restaurant as represented by OpenTable. They would try to sell us some membership we thought it was business attire it was people and shorts it was Valentine's night and it was loud obnoxious the seating was horrible if I didn't him $10 in advance I probably still be waiting for my car.
We are Mitchell regulars. Food is good, service is excellent, and the ambiance is just friendly and relaxed. The experience is consistently enjoyable--no surprises. Happy hour, complimentary valet parking, and Landry's reward program are all major pluses. Recommended.
We were getting together to meet our son's new girlfriend. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Our cocktails, appetizer, entrées, and desserts were nicely presented and delicious. Our server Erika, was relatively new to the restaurant and took good care of us. I would highly recommend Mitchells Fish Market looking for an excellent seafood meal (although I understand that beef selections are highly regarded.
Kathy was a great server! Pace was perfect. We had the pretzels (she made an exception even though we weren't in the bar), spicy crispy shrimp, lobster bisque, and the sea bass. Food was delicious (sea bass was a little salty but it may have been my palette). Everything was great and I'd definitely return again!
I want to like Mitchell's, I really do but once again it fell short. The Mussel Appetizer sauce was void of ANY flavor, the muscles themselves were rubbery. The manager was nice enough to take them off the bill. The Lobster and Shrimp stuffed Cod in a white wine garlic sauce, flavorless again. The only flavor came from the shrimp and Puree Lobster stuffing? (We did not see or be able to pick out a single sliver of Lobster). The Grilled Rainbow Trout was an extremely small piece of fish that tasted as bland as could be. The restaurant itself in very large with a nice atmosphere, huge patio, indoor/outdoor bar, It's a shame the Landry group has let the food slide. The prices are a premium here and do not justify what you get.
