Great service! Husband and I attended for our anniversary and had a great experience. There was an issue with my meal being over cooked and it was remedied right away.
Fun,good food ,nice atmosphere
Mussels appetizer was fantastic, that’s about where it ended. Ordered an Irish coffee as a seasonal drink and it was so strong I couldn’t even drink it. Our waitress maybe came around 2-3 times but never offered drink refills and the restaurant wasn’t even busy. Not the anniversary dinner we were hoping for.
Dan, our server, was the best ever. Very attentive. Knows the menu. Great recommendations.
Wait staff very helpful and had good suggestions piano man played a nice variety very entertaining
Out waiter was great. The service and host were also wonderful. Food was delicious! Portions were perfect. Ambiance was fantastic
Food was great. We will beback
I live in Ohio and had not been to this location in Homestead, PA. I took my 85 year old cousin there to celebrate her birthday. It was awesome. We had a wonderful server, who was upbeat and knowledgeable. The food selections were perfect and to top it off they gave her a free birthday dessert. The price was very reasonable for both meals. I will definitely recommend this restaurant and I plan to return in the future.
Slow service even though restaurant was not busy. Took ten minutes to bring drink order, then food service was s little slower than usual. But drinks were good. Cedar plank salmon was tasty but not hot. It also didn’t look like it was cooked on the plank, just served that way! Lobster was very good, although portion was small. Our waiter was attentive when he came around, but I think he had too many tables.
Overall, not a bad experience , but not up to expectations for their reputation and price.
The service was exceptional and the food tremendously delicious!! Would certainly recommend others experience the quaint atmosphere amd world class culinary experience.
I’ve been to Mitchell’s a number of times and I’ve always enjoyed the experience. I was disappointed this time. The food was disappointing. I had the 8 ounce filet and it didn’t even look like a filet. Our waiter was awesome and I tipped him accordingly! He was overwhelmed but worked very hard. I hope that the next time I go the experience will be better!
The portion of the food was lacking. I order the shrimp lobster stuffed cod, it was very dry to say the least. The red skin mashed potatoes was the best out of my entire entrée. It seems like the restaurant seen better days.
We always get bread pudding to go. It is usually moist and delicious. Today it was hard and tasteless. I have never been to a restaurant where the waitress came and took the signed check and left. She didnt have anyone check on us. We were just in our own. She didnt even tell us she was leaving we happened to see her put on her jacket grab her purse and walk out the door.
The food quality was terrible. I recently ate at the Mitchell's Fish Market in Columbus and had a great experience. We were visiting our sons in Pittsburgh and found an opening on open table rather last minute. Now we know why reservations were available. The seared ahi tuna was a ridiculous small portion for the cost. My sons both said, wow, Outback does a much bigger and better seared ahi tuna appetizer. My swordfish was bland, which was very disappointing given how good the same entree was in Columbus a week prior. My wife and son both got the salmon and said it was very underwhelming. The bread was undercooked and my ceaser salad looked like something from a fast food restaurant. I now know why no one was in this restaurant and I will be surprised if it remains open for more than 6 more months. This is the only time I have reviewed a restaurant negatively if that helps put this in context.
Server was great. Scampi was not broiled and sat in watery butter juice. Stuffed lobster and shrimp - stuffing flavorless and bready. Lobster and shrimp were clearly frozen and similar to red lobster. Soup was good.
Great selections, can't go wrong with any, cant wait to next visit
Excellent menu and service. I lived the Spicy Shrimp Scampi! Just perfection!!!
Good food, inconsistent service at times. Limited menu options
Food was very good
Ate in the bar. They needed more employees working in the bar. The poor bartenders were run ragged waiting on the bar and the tables. Took too long. Otherwise very good
The food was just ok
It was good. Food was really good. Server could have been nicer but overall it was a good time
Enjoyed the live piano music and was thoroughly shocked/amused when one of the wait staff did a flip for a neighboring patrons bday!
The salad and entrees were great, the service was impeccable, the price as expected.......but.....the dessert was a bust. Ordered carrot cake to go When we got home, I put on the coffee and served the cake. Alas it was pretty bad, it was very dry and tasted old like it had absorbed every odor in the refrigerator. They had poured some tasteless glaze over it, I presume to cover up for the fact that it was old and left over. So sad because it was an otherwise nice dining experience.
P.S. We did enjoy the piano player.
We made plans for New Years and made reservations at Mitchell’s at least a month beforehand. We had tickets to the Improv afterwards but left plenty of time. When we arrived at Mitchell’s they said our reservation would not be honored for over an hour. They were running an hour behind. This is completely unacceptable and it ruined our New Years plans. They should’ve realized it’s a busy night and made the reservations accordingly. The staff was not nice about it at all. We left and will never return and will post this on their Facebook page because I would not want others to get their nights ruined as well.
We dine Mitchells quite often, however our experience on New Years Eve 2019 was terrible. We had a 7 pm reservation for 4 but we were not seated until 8:30 pm. We sat at our table for fifteen minutes and then had to request a server since no one attempted to serve us. It was obvious that the restaurant was overbooked, however, there were empty tables that were not being used.
The hostess was not at all pleasant and came across as curt. I would have thought management might have provided a complementary beverage or appetizer to those guests who had to wait in the lobby for over an hour but that did not happen. The room temperature in the restaurant was cold.
It was a very disappointing dining experience.
We had no lighting at the booth..
Lights were out all over
Steak was very rare and cold
This is the 2nd year we have had our Christmas dinner at Mitchell’s Fish Market at the Waterfront. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and staff! I had a Filet and used my butter knife to cut it. Everyone had festive sweaters on too.
Ordered the cedar plank salmon, it was pink in the middle and uncooked. Server was very nice and got his manager. Manager had cooks make completely new order which was much better and fully cooked. Will not return back, appears the table in front of us had their meal undercooked too.
From beginning to end, everything was awesome. From service to food, we were extremely pleased.
Date night with my lovely wife. The food was decent. Definitely used to be better in the past. I don’t mind paying a higher price for exceptional dining, but for average food it was not a good value. Service was fast and friendly. Restaurant was clean.
We always loved coming here. We were really surprised that Mitchell’s uses farm raised salmon. Not what we would expect from a fish market restaurant. They were out of the Haddock too. The service and wait staff always great. That saved the evening.
I used to live in Pittsburgh and this was my favorite restaurant. I haven't lived there in a decade but every year I go back around Thanksgiving and try to get to Mitchell's. This year was the first year I was really disappointed. When we pulled in the parking lot was empty which is never a good sign. The food was subpar. I couldn't even eat mine. I had gotten the tuna fish on English muffin. It's the tuna melt with cheddar. My mom thought it tasted funny also. My aunt got the calamari and had to send the first serving back because she said it tasted like pure salt. I distinctly remember in the year 2006-2007 thinking their food was the absolute best around 2nd to maybe only Atria's. Of course everyone would have to go and get the shark fin pie. This year 2019 the shark fin pie was still pretty good it didn't look the same to me though but the ice cream was excellent.
We celebrated my 70th birthday and all had delicious food for dinner including lobster, steak. Crab cakes, calamari and shrimp. We were all so full that we could not eat dessert! Great seafood restaurant!
Excellent food, good service, live music was a bonus .
Very enjoyable
Great place for a seafood lunch. Good selection, nice atmosphere, attentive service.
No wait. Our server, Kayley (sp?) was awesome! Super patient with my mom who has dementia, but knows what she wants. Lol! Made excellent suggestions and made accommodations for my mom. Overall great experience.
Great fish dinner and the service was great. Highly recommended.
We ordered the tuna appetizer but sent it back. It looked wonderful but had a very fishy taste. We usually love tuna but this was disappointing. Entree was good. House salad nothing special. It was an ok experience
The meal was just OK, nothing special. The soup was almost warm, but certainly not what you would expect with regard to temperature. The main course was a disappointing and rather bland. I doubt that I will return.
