Mitchell's Fish Market - Waterfront - Pittsburgh Ratings and Reviews
Usually have a good experience at Mitchell’s however was very disappointed at our last visit. Service was extremely slow. We arrived at 7 and didn’t get our main course until 9 o’clock. Not good when dining out with children. We had to call the manager twice, first due to a paper receipt we found in our oysters - mixed in the juice at the bottom of the bowl - and lastly due to the really really slow service. It wasn’t overly busy so not sure what the problem was. The manager tried to help and did take the oysters off our bill. However finding a foreign object in your food usually leaves a bad taste in your mouth! Main courses tasted ok. Will think twice before choosing Mitchell’s again.
service was awful. food sent back twice and then it took them 40 minutes to get me a hot meal. The waiter was very lucky that my father-in-law paid the corrected bill not me. Because he got a 20% tip. I would have left 7% tip and for i got that would of been generous 😡. An almost 2 1/2 hour dinner 🙁. Will be speaking to Mitchell’s corporate when i get home next week
I have been to Mitchell's at the Waterfront in the past. We had a 3:30 reservation on Thanksgiving. We were seated promptly and our server greeted us within 5 minutes and was attentive through our entire meal. We had the special Thanksgiving meal and all of us thought the food was very good.
We arrived in two different cabs, and were offered the option of waiting for the rest of our party, or being seated immediately. Our young server was honest about not being really familiar with wines, but took our orders for drinks. There was one hiccup with a single glass order, but the bottle came out as ordered with a more experienced server. They accommodated several special requests (a tuna sashimi request). The appetizers were delivered and we were not rushed to finish before the entrees came (but we also did not wait long). Waters were refilled promptly, bread arrived frequently. There was not much left on the plates, except the duck confit, which was not a hit. They even called a cab and made sure he got to the correct location to take us back to our hotel. An excellent meal with quiet surroundings, for an exception meeting. Bravo.
Enjoyed fixed price dinner of talapia lobster Oscar and baked cod dinner. Disappointed with banana bread pudding dessert because it was served cold.
Landry club membership not accepted any longer but server did not offer 10 % discount as Landry emails said they would. Communication in-house needs improved.
We have been to Michells many times before Sunday. Since it was good we took our friend there for dinner for a celebration. The experience was not a good one. The restaurant was pretty empty. We were placed near the kitchen and it was a little to dark in this area, hard to read the menu. Our friend tried to use the small lamp at the table for light. The waitress must have been new, as she did have a few problems with what we ordered.
All in all not very good this time. Hoping if we come again it will be better.
We had great service. Service is always awesome. We have found what they are good at making and what they are not. We avoid the scallops they tend to be overcooked. This time I had stuffed cod. It was delicious would definitely get it again and my husband gets the trio and his favorite salad is the spinach and goat cheese salad with the bacon vinaigrette... delicious. I couldn't resist the lobster bisque. One of my favorites in the city.
This was my first time at a Mitchells restaurant. One goes to a restaurant for a good dining experience and Mitchell's was not disappointing. The menu selections were numerous and the food was very favorable, served hot and a very nice presentation. I don't remember hearing any background music playing. Many restaurants play music too loudly which I find objectional. I will make Mitchell's a favorite dining destination. Thank you for caring enough to request a review.
Excellent scallops. Overall the food was outstanding. Fish was properly prepared, not over-cooked like many restaurants do. Outdoor seating is nice as it is on the back, up from the river. There is no view but it is quiet and a nice setting. Service was good and friendly. Easy parking and next to all the stores at Waterfront center. Short walk from Hampton and Courtyard.
Great food and service! Beautiful covered patio overlooking the river. My made-to-order Peach Margarita was fantastic! The freshly baked Sourdough Bread was served warm and buttery! The Spicy Shrimp appetizer was delicious, as was the Fresh Wild Salmon and Mashed Red-skin Potatoes! We will be back!
This was a dip in quality in the food this time -- I ordered the shanghai style cod and it tasted like it was run through with a hair dryer (which probably means it was under a heat lamp for a very long time) and the sauce was completely flavorless, and it's the second time we've been to Fish Market where they have had to scrounge around for a wine bottle and tell us (twice!) that they didn't have the wine from the wine list. Work on stocking that wine or change the list! We still had a good time, as even one mediocre night there will not affect us enjoying the restaurant. The happy hour menu appetizers were great as always, and we did enjoy our third choice wine.
