The seating staff were excellent. Part of our group was about 10 minutes late, and the staff allowed us to be seated while waiting, even though there was a 15-20 minute wait for tables. We appreciated that. Our waitress was very pleasant, but was not very helpful when it came to recommendations. She also seemed to be very busy, and we had to practically throw ourselves in front of her to have our drinks refilled. On the other hand, she was nice about not trying to push our party out the door as soon as the bill was paid. That is why I rated her as very good. The food was excellent and delivered in a timely manner.
Mitchells Fish Market in the Waterfront is one of my favorite places to eat. Tonight, the scallops were fantastic, the service friendly and efficient, and we snagged a booth on the wall, just outside the main dining room, so the noise level was lower than usual.
We had a glass of wine at the bar but when we tried to get same wine at table we were told they didn’t have it. My first choice of entree was not available. Wait tme between appetizer and entree was 45 minutes. Our server did the best he could in a bad situation. But at the end of the day, we paid a lot of money for a horrible experience.
We waited an hour and 30 minutes from the time we sat down to the time we were served our entrees. The ticket will show that we were seated at 7:15 or 7:20 and not served until after 9PM. Drinks, salads and soup were served in short order but the entrees were delayed over an hour or more. When called, the manager revealed that two cooks did not show for work but the waiter never indicated a problem nor offered more bread, drinks or appetizers. The manager offered to "take care of us" but instead, she only comped the salads and the soups and our party of 6 received a bill for over $200. The food was inconsistent; one diner's trout was so overcooked that it was hard and the replacement trout was tasteless. By the time we were served, one of our guests was no longer hungry and her entire meal was boxed to take home. My cold shrimp cocktail was finally served as an entree but without the correct number of large shrimp; it was filled in with smaller shrimp because by the time they filled the order, they were out of large shrimp. Clearly , the restaurant had challenges it couldn't handle but it also revealed a very customer unfriendly approach to problems. We frequently eat at Mitchells Waterfront but this was such a bad experience that it is unlikely that we will return. Had our meals been completely comped, we would have felt like valued customers and been more understanding of the restaurant's problems. But everything was handled poorly, non-strategically and 6 customers left very unhappy.
All of us enjoyed the food. My salmon and grilled veggies were both tasty and well prepared.as always the shrimp wrapped in bacon appetizer was delectable. Dessert was worth every calorie.. of which there were lots in the creme brûlée. Service was efficient, though we waited a bit longer than usual for the main course. We will all be back again.
We have had great meals here many times Saturday was not one of those times. Appetizers were great, lobster bisque, chowder and lobster mac & cheese. The entrées took a long time to come and when they did the scallops and fish were way overcooked. Not what I would have expected from our previous experiences. We did get a huge piece of carrot cake for they long wait, which was nice as we didn't ask for it.
Mitchells's is always a strong choice when in Pittsburgh. The fishis always fresh and well prepared.
Nice server and seemed to be trying hard, but we still went without drinks most of the meal. It was VERY cold in there. We had to wear our coats.
The food was very good but you could tell that the vegetables and potatoes were plated earlier than the shrimp as they were not hot at all.
Also, the carrot cake dessert was extremely over-priced.
The restaurant was not staffed well for the holiday. Service was very slow, the kitchen ran out of food and the bar ran out of certain drinks. Our waiter tool an appetizer order but it never got rung in. No bread was brought to the table. We didn't complain to the manager because we couldn't get our waiter back to our table. We did over hear the manager at 3 of the tables around us complaining about EVERYTHING - we would have just been singing the same chorus.

Have been here many times prior but this might have been the best service we've ever had even sitting in the lounge area and it being New Year's Eve ! Waitress Tina was outstanding. The only disappointment was the sides were barely warm but the seafood was hot.
The evening did not start out very good but the evening ended great.
Great food, great service. The manager stopped by to chat with us and he was an absolute gem.

I could never recommend this restaurant to anyone. Our food was awful. I was very disappointed as they brag that their seafood is fresh. It was dry and boring. We were a party of 14 and only one waiter to serve our dinners. Mine was luke warm at best. Nobody enjoyed their meal. Our waiter did the best he could and the bad food was not his fault.
My meal, which was salmon, scallops and shrimp with sticky rice was way too salty. The soy sauce was overbearing. The food was overpriced for the portions we received.
The food was excellent, but for the price, we were expecting better service. There were very few people in the restaurant when we were there and the waiter didn't seem too anxious to serve us.
We all had an enjoyable evening , food was good, drinks were ok but I thought that the food prices were over priced .
Usually have a good experience at Mitchell’s however was very disappointed at our last visit. Service was extremely slow. We arrived at 7 and didn’t get our main course until 9 o’clock. Not good when dining out with children. We had to call the manager twice, first due to a paper receipt we found in our oysters - mixed in the juice at the bottom of the bowl - and lastly due to the really really slow service. It wasn’t overly busy so not sure what the problem was. The manager tried to help and did take the oysters off our bill. However finding a foreign object in your food usually leaves a bad taste in your mouth! Main courses tasted ok. Will think twice before choosing Mitchell’s again.
service was awful. food sent back twice and then it took them 40 minutes to get me a hot meal. The waiter was very lucky that my father-in-law paid the corrected bill not me. Because he got a 20% tip. I would have left 7% tip and for i got that would of been generous 😡. An almost 2 1/2 hour dinner 🙁. Will be speaking to Mitchell’s corporate when i get home next week
Food was outstanding. The bourbon brown sugar glazed salmon was the best I have had.

I have been to Mitchell's at the Waterfront in the past. We had a 3:30 reservation on Thanksgiving. We were seated promptly and our server greeted us within 5 minutes and was attentive through our entire meal. We had the special Thanksgiving meal and all of us thought the food was very good.
Service was very pleasant, but slow. Yellow fin tuna was over cooked, but server did offer to remedy.
Food was delicious as usual as were their cocktails! I think they make some of the best cocktails in the Pittsburgh area!
We arrived in two different cabs, and were offered the option of waiting for the rest of our party, or being seated immediately. Our young server was honest about not being really familiar with wines, but took our orders for drinks. There was one hiccup with a single glass order, but the bottle came out as ordered with a more experienced server. They accommodated several special requests (a tuna sashimi request). The appetizers were delivered and we were not rushed to finish before the entrees came (but we also did not wait long). Waters were refilled promptly, bread arrived frequently. There was not much left on the plates, except the duck confit, which was not a hit. They even called a cab and made sure he got to the correct location to take us back to our hotel. An excellent meal with quiet surroundings, for an exception meeting. Bravo.
Enjoyed fixed price dinner of talapia lobster Oscar and baked cod dinner. Disappointed with banana bread pudding dessert because it was served cold.
Landry club membership not accepted any longer but server did not offer 10 % discount as Landry emails said they would. Communication in-house needs improved.
