I’ve always been a fan of Mitchell’s but I think some of the items have declined. The Caesar salad no longer tastes homemade, it is likely a bottled dressing that resembles an Italian dressing. Their fresh fish has always been fantastic but I tried the tilapia grilled and I think it was frozen, not fresh. Overall it was still enjoyable but not the quality they have been known for in the past.
I used Open Table to schedule our anniversary celebration and specified this when prompted to do so in the app. No one acknowledged that fact all night so if that was the case, why bother asking if we are celebrating a special occasion? We haven't been here in some time but I was in the mood for some shrimp scampi. I also ordered a side of Tuscan grilled vegetables. Shrimp scampi usually has a butter, wine, garlic sauce well they decided to add something to set my mouth on fire! It was sooo spicy, I'll never order this again from here. My vegetables were served with all kinds of additional toppings including balsamic vinegar reduction and I'm guessing what would be gorgonzola cheese, which I despise. I supposed I should have asked what the grilled vegetables were about but I guess I thought I knew. My husband's meal was fine. Both meals were hot.
I brought my parents here for Mother’s Day, so I expected crowds, which is why I made a reservation. When we arrived for our 5:00, we told that they were still trying to work out seating. We waited about 15 minutes for our table. Floors were extremely sticky throughout the restaurant. The booth was nice, near the window, affording a pleasant view. Server was friendly, attentive, and thorough. Food was surprisingly average, especially for the price. Barramundi was bland and chewy, crab cake was atop a overly spicy remoulade, and not particularly tasty. Scallions seemed to cover everything. I can certainly make allowances for crowds, but consistency is critical. In my opinion, Mitchell’s has declined in quality in the aforementioned areas, but has the potential to improve. I like to come there for drinks in the evening, but I tend to bypass the food. I’d really like that to be different. I always have high hopes for Mitchell’s...
Great food and our waitress was very attentive and friendly
Meal "Cobia" was excellent but the brussel sprouts we're very over cooked and had no taste
A little pricy but the food was very good. Not crowded at all on a Sunday night.
Went for lunch, made a reservation in case it was busy. Got seated immediately. Food was very good. Only downfall is that the floor was clearly dirty, my shoes, a long with my mother's, kept sticking to the floor from the moment we walked in and continued until we were seated at our table. Being born and raised in Pittsburgh, and now spending the last 12 years in Virginia Beach for my career, it can be hard to find seafood that is fresh and sustainable in PGH from what I have been accustomed to, but today's lunch was very tasty.
Food was subpar and overpriced food and
Great place. Always great food and helpful staff.
Took my dad here for his birthday. The fish tacos were amazing and so was the Shanghai shrimp, scallops and salmon. Definitely will go again!
The amount of fish I got was disproportionate to the amount of potatoes that came with it my caesar salad was unbalanced and had brown lettuce this restaurant has taken a nose dive
Blackened salmon bites are just breaded salmon. Nothing really “ blackened”about them. Service is always great. No burgers on the menu until happy hour. Odd you can’t order it at another time
Good food - a bit pricy for the size of the fish I ordered - swordfish. Maybe swordfish is that expensive. But service was excellent and food was indeed tasty.
It was about what we have experienced in the past. My biggest complaint was that it was very cold in the restaurant. I kept my jacket over my lap to try and stay warm. Hard to really enjoy a meal when you're cold.
We ordered the fisherman's platter with 5 extra shrimp. When our meal came we just had shrimp with fries & Cole slaw. By the time we were able to tell our waiter the people we were with were half finished their meal and the waiter just said he was sorry. It's just very dissappointing when you don't get what you order.
We had great food. The crab stuffed shrimp were well prepared and tasted great. Our server was efficient and friendly.
Our dinner was very enjoyable in a great atmosphere. The staff was friendly and efficient and very welcoming. Our dinner options were all different and each was delicious. Our meal was served in a timely manner. There were four in our party and all left happy and satisfied!!
While I had a reservation, the host wanted to seat us (2) in the bar!! There was also lots of available seating in the main dining room but it seems the booths were being held for larger parties and not for two . We were seated in a booth in the dining room but it kind of spoiled my evening.
Great food and excellent service. Will definitely be back.Cody was an excellent server.
My husband and I had a bite to eat before a concert at the Homestead Carnegie Music Hall. It is the perfect restaurant to pop into before any concert. The service was quick, yet enjoyable.
My good friends and I gathered at Mitchells for a 70th birthday celebration for lunch and fun
The waitress was excellent, was at our table checking if we were ok multiple times, She made us the best bloody Marys ever, and the food was also so tasty. The ambience and the day was just perfect for my Birthday girlfriend, and it just feld like a cozy comfortable easy afternoon
Thanks for everything Mitchells!!!
My guest had the steak and I had the surf and turf, I didn't think the cuts were up to the price point and they were both overcooked (I asked for medium rare). This restaurant needs to really work on the kitchen. I've eaten at other Mitchell units - notably in Cleveland near Beachwood and the quality was significantly better. I guess the real indication is that the place was fairly empty for dinner....I won't be going back.
Great staff. Great service. We have been here before and will continue to dine here. We always recommend this location. Also, the manager of the restaurant was top notch!
Our waiter was very good and attentive. The restaurant could really use some sprucing up looking tired and worn I also couldn’t help but notice that all the regular entrees were bumped up several dollars for the weekend.
The food and ambiance was excellent. Our server Brittany was fantastic, extremely personable and attentive. Couldn’t have asked for better service.
It was Valentine’s Day we had been here once before and really enjoyed the food. This time everything was just so so. The restaurant was almost empty, which should have been our first clue. We won’t be going back anytime soon. :(
An overall great Valentine’s Day experience.
Excellent happy hour! Great food and great wine list. Refreshing to see changes through the seasons.
The cod was great and the green beans were fresh and cooked perfectly. Our server did an excellent job.
The food was absolutely horrible. The salad wasn’t fresh and the main course was not good. The restaurant wasn’t clean and didn’t smell good. Extremely overpriced.
Waitress was v nice, not busy at all. Food was realky good, portions for the price was meager. Also never saw that Mitchell's is no longer Landry Property..could not take our gift card..so sad..
Nice time but not anxious to go back .
This is a frequent place we visit. Food was great, atmosphere the same. A little bit pricey, but cannot say that the time was not worth it.
All four of us enjoyed our meals very much. The service was excellent as well.
Staff was great! Much appreciated them to be on the job Christmas Day! Menu was limited due to the restaurant running out of supply.
This was the worst dining experience, ever! Even though they had a reservation list, by the time we were seated at 7pm, they were out of lobster tails, asparagus, and even bags to take our leftovers - who knows what else. Our menu options were so limited, and at 7pm on Christmas Day, there was no other option but to pay for a meal that you were not planning on ordering! Raw Bar menu...?!?!? Oysters were not available either. Should be Mitchell's Anything But Fish Market! Also, I came to this restaurant because it was listed on Landry's, as I am a VIP member, but once we got there we were told that this location was not included. $300 wasted! Oh, and the bartender was not competent.
We dined at Mitchells I’m Xmas day. Our serve was ver nice and gave us pretty good service. We waited a while for our main course. My husband and I both had salmon, but different preparations. The portion of each dish was TINY!!! My salmon was square in size and only a few bites. My husbands portion was so ridiculous. It was about 3 inches by 1 inch, maybe the size for a toddler. We would rather they say they were out of it, than serve a small portion like that .
The food and service were good. I went on a holiday, so I think there was a special menu. Everything was way overpriced. I think they have specials during the week that make it more affordable. We sat in an area near windows and it was very cold. Had to keep our jackets on. Three people, $165 with tip. Only one alcoholic beverage. $8. It really seemed like too high of a price for what we got. The place was not totally crowded, but there were a lot of people. Had I not made a reservation, I still probably could have gotten in easily.
The place itself was very nice. Cozy and quiet ambiance. We knew it would be pricey, but that was fine. The food is really good. FISH is excellent. But watch out for drinks prices. Drinks are NOT refillable. $4.50 for one regular glass of raspberry iced tea. Hubby got just 2 beers. Half of our bill was just the drinks. Go there for the food, not the drinks.
Also, we knew what we wanted to eat, but we think the servers are trained to upsell. She kept asking if we wanted appetizers, dessert, this or that and when we said no, she said, "you can take it to go." I'm thinking, no, because we want to eat it in this ambiance, but just too full. She was a young server, maybe had a sales quota of some sort, or at least that's what it felt like.
My advice to the manager: Diners want to eat at their own pace. When you're at a nice dining place, you just want to be left alone to have a nice, quiet meal with your friend/family. If we need something, we'll call for someone. But to get asked, How're things here so far 5-6x throughout meal is UGH. Try not to interrupt the nice dining experience with upselling.
P.S. The bread rolls were kinda strange. We got half a roll, and it looked like it was brushed with some kind of oil, but it wasn't olive oil. I'm an olive oil fan, and whatever that was, it was weird. Maybe serve the rolls with good dipping oil (olive oil with dried garlic herbs or balsamic vinegar). Not just regular oil.
This place is awesome. Food was.off.the chart and the service was excellent. Very.clean and quiet. First.class.all the way
