Mitchell's Fish Market - Tampa Ratings and Reviews
Wait staff was meh - not particularly attentive. Did not refill wine at all - we were left on our own with refilling wine glasses throughout meal with few exceptions. Did not offer to cork bottle that was half full and disappeared after check was paid so we wound up leaving the wine because we got tired of waiting for him to come back. Food was good overall but guest of honor received her food last and after all others were served by several minutes- waiter was well aware that she was guest of honor. I always tip well due to experience in restaurants and did not make an exception here but was disappointed with the service.
Food was impeccable as always. Megan, our server, was decent. Would have appreciated a bit more attentiveness from her (regarding drink refills, etc). She was friendly though. It was early, so restaurant wasn't crowded which meant staff could be seen standing around.
Delicious seafood! I had the stone crab claw starter, tender & moist; the remoulade had just the perfect amount of spice. Followed those with the seared scallop & duck confit special....what a combination of flavors. Service was spot on. Will return on my next trip.
For Thanksgiving dinner, we had a wonderful meal. From the bread, oysters, seafood, to cocktails, it was fabulous. The service was not so spot on. Waited 35 minutes to be approached for the first time. Waiter was tossing restaurant politics as us and was visibly disturbed when we didn't want to join the "club" for $25.00 a person. All we wanted was a nice meal for Thanksgiving.
Mitchell's Fish Market was busy on a recent visit. Nevertheless, our server was outstanding! He did not rush us, was very tuned in to our dietary requirements, and happily made suggestions. Our dishes were prepared as requested, and served when we wanted them -- we do like a little time to enjoy a cocktail!
The menu descriptions are not realistic to what the food actually is. Their ‘New Orleans seafood gumbo’ was tomato based which is not authentic. Plus, I found no seafood in it, just andouille sausage. Their ‘Jumbo lump crab cake ‘ was not Jumbo at all. I was disappointed.
Mitchell's is a restaurant you can rely on to consistently deliver good food and service. Our party of 8 was very happy with our dinner. We were gathered for a birthday celebration and requested an area off to the side which was accommodated. We were seated and greeted right away.
Wonderful food and service. Whenever we go to Mitchell's we always request Scott as our server. Scott is always attentive but not intrusive. Parking for the restaurant is easy in and out . Parking spaces are usually available and close by. Unfortunately I walked off with Scott's pen. Will return it on next visit.
Our table of 4 had to send back everyone's meals because they were cold. This choice of restaurant was my suggestion to the group and I was too embarrassed to send my entree back a second time. The shrimp were warmer, but the potatoes and vegetables were barely lukewarm -- I couldn't eat them. We always go to the Mitchell's in Carmel, IN and that is always great, but I won't go back to this one.
Excellent dinner. We decided to sit at the bar and enjoyed the buzz with so many people having a great time. Service is always excellent. I had fresh grouper while my wife went for lobster. Both were delicious. The wine list has plenty of choices, by the glass or by the bottle. The location is great if coming south on Suncoast highway. We like to eat there before going to local concerts.
The scallops w/duck confit hash was outstanding. We split the appetizer of lobster and shrimp ravioli and the spinach and goat cheese salad. Tried two new martini cocktails prior to dinner; and a coffee drink w/grand marnier, frngelico, and baileys, which was a twist on a nutty Irishman and very tasty. We really enjoy this top Landry's restaurant and will return often!
We met friend for dinner and got there a bit early so we ordered cocktails and the charbroiled oysters. The first batch came out still a bit chilled, the server wasted no time in removing the dish and getting a new one to us asap. The dinner was pleasant and everyone enjoyed their entree
The only good thing about this place was the service. I had the broiled grouper and it tasted old and was covered in what I think was paprika. The mashed potatoes were good but the mixed veggies were undercooked. My husbands chicken parm looked like they used chix tenders with a drizzle of tomatoe sauce and no sauce on the pasta. Just aweful...the bread was the cheapest they could serve on a cold white plate...
Gerald handled our table of 6 on a Sunday night. In my opinion Mitchell's offers great value, good atmosphere and as Gerald demonstrated, great service. For the appetizers we shared the charbroiled oysters... OMG.... get some extra bread for this... 2nd we had the spicy crispy shrimp.... delish.... last we had the calamari.... very good. For some reason several of us were in the mood for their fish and chips and the consensus was that they are some of the finest in town. Very generous pieces of fish fried perfectly. Not greasy and crunchy. Two of the group got healthy and had the Ahi Tuna Rice bowl.. Reasonable portion and very good. The evening was truly topped off with Geralds very fine attention to our table and to each of our needs. On top of that he was just a nice guy. Of course we'll be back again.... Wonderful place.
Had a reservation for several days prior and was actually seated in the bar. If we just walked in off the street, that is different...but a reservation should at least get you in the dining room.
Clam chowder was pretty good...my girlfriend's fish was overcooked...I had beer battered shrimp...it was very good. Did not care for the hush puppies.
Service was half assed...our server lost interest in us pretty quickly once he realized we were not drinking....still managed to drop $70 though.
Won't go out of my way to go back....plenty of great restaurants within a 3 mile radius.
My vegetables were raw as were my friend's, my stuffed shrimp temp was cool, the server did not know the menu and we were seated by the cash-out area. A manager never appeared and we were not offered any kind of comp for the raw Vegs. Second time for mediocre food...won't be going back.
Our waiter Philip was fantastic!! He made sure we were comfortable and never let our drinks go dry! The manager came over and introduced herself, and made sure all of the guest were happy as well. The service on the food, was a little slow, but they did have a huge party also. Overall, we had a nice time.
Mitchell's is offering some dishes that had been on the menu is previous years - yay! The former changes were not for the best, and I had stopped going altogether. I am pleased that some things are being prepared as in the past. The lobster tail special is terrific, both in taste and value. I hope the restaurant continues to prepare the seafood dishes well. My other hope is that the service improves.
Landry's offered a Labor Day special thru Mitchell's. Twin lobster tails with smashed potatoes and asparagus for $22.00. It was very enjoyable! My husband does not eat lobster, so he had blackened fish, which he also enjoyed. Our waiter, was very good (sorry, I forgot his name). A big thank you to Landry's and Mitchell's for offering this special and to our waiter for such great service!!!
