Mitchell's Fish Market - Rochester Ratings and Reviews
Overall, we were extremely dissatisfied with our service and time spent last Saturday evening. We understand we were a party of 6 and preparing our food may take a little longer but the table next to us, which was also a party of 6, came in at least 15 minutes after we were sat and they received their food before us. The party next to us not only was able to get their food before us but they also ate their meal, paid and left before we received our food. After calling a manager over to ask about our food she had nothing say nor did she go and check up on our food. We sat for over an hour easy before our dinners arrived. To fill time we asked for more bread, this was never brought to us. Our waitress was very nice but did not acknowledge our long wait nor did she try and fill the time waiting with bringing us refills or the bread we asked for. In addition, the women’s restrooms were not stocked at all. None of the stalls had toilet paper and there were no paper towels. Three people in our party also became ill after eating within an hour after leaving the restaurant.
Four of us went for dinner. The food was good to excellent, depending on the entree. Sea Bass was declared excellent. Twin tails were over cooked, tho flavor was good. My crab stuffed shrimp was good. The salmon was good, not excellent. We were told three times, sorry, the bar is backed up. We, the customers, do nor own this problem and I hope that staffing can be adjusted to compensate for the 15 minute wait for a drink. Overall I’d still give 4 stars out of five because the service was great.
WHO charges for refills on an Arnold Palmer? Until today, I would have said “No one.” Now I say “Mitchell’s. WTH?”
Who charges for refills but doesn’t mention it? Mitchell’s.
What a fricking rip-off. I used to go often, but there are other restaurants that don’t try to slip in a couple extra bucks on my check in such a despicable way.
We LOVE this restaurant! We made reservations through OpenTable for a Saturday evening birthday dinner (we even had special menus that said Happy Birthday!), and loved every sip and bite from the first appetizer through dessert. The food is consistently good, and if you order dessert, the carrot cake is out of this world. Our 3-year-old was with us and loves the kids menu.
We were quite unhappy with the level of service and the quality of the meal. The server began our meal with complaining about the greeters not seating us sooner . She then rushed through the delivery of our courses. Lastly she continued to try and sell us on their loyalty card. The meal itseft was decent and not nearly worth the price. The shrimp cocktail was tough, overcooked, and the rest of the meal was only so so.
The main course for all of us was at best warm if not cold. We explained this to the manager who in turn asked if we would like dessert on them as an apology. We all ordered desert (4) but was told that the apology was only 1 dessert. We tried to explain that we did not want to cause a fuss as it was a special occasion but the fact that we had spent the best part of $150 on just the main courses and they wanted to offer a $6 dessert as an apology was a disgrace. The overall attitude and service was terrible and would not expect that from a fast food chain.
We were not impressed with service, food quality, or the value of our experience and won't be back. We were disappointed with our experience. Surf and turf was not available and had to add on. Every plate comes with the same sides and food was only warm when served. Steaks were overcooked, but the food took so long we didn't want to say anything. Also portion and quality for the price was very under par. Lobster tail was also overseasoned and tough.
Mitchell's Fish Market - Rochester was the venue for a group of eight to kick off a weekend celebration of one of the group's birhtday. An eclectic group made good use of Mitchell's diverse menu. Every category got at least one taker. All marveled at the fine quality and presentation of our dishes. Waitperson Emily added to the festivities with her sparkling personality and timely service. This was good. We'll be back.
Went here for my birthday recently. Have been here many times, but has been about a year since last visit. Overall was good, but food not as good as used to be. The lobster bisque was hot but very salty and not as flavorful as should be. Had blackened whitefish, which was partly a bit dry and part was just fine. My wife had sea bass, which was part cooked but part raw on the thicker end. Though the restaurant was mainly empty, we got a booth in the back where only an off duty employee was having dinner, and many staff coming over to chat with them. Not much for atmosphere this time... great server and good drinks though.
Friendly greeting and prompt seating. Attentive service by Fish. Nice 14 Hands Cabernet wine. Fabulous start with Bacon Wrapped BBQ Shrimp before shared Titanic Wedge of Iceberg salad. Outstanding Shang Hai Seafood entrée while the wife enjoyed delicious Salmon. Would like to return.
