Mitchell's Fish Market - Rochester Ratings and Reviews
We had made a reservation and we initially sat near the kitchen which was loud....we were move to a much better table and wondered why we were not put there in the first place. Also, I had requested that my king crab legs be cut done the middle and they were not and I had to send them back. Overall, Mitchell's has good seafood.
We went to Mitchell's for a pre-Valentine's Day celebration. Service was outstanding, as was the attentiveness of the manager. Carlos, our waitperson, heard me questioning the use of the Birthday points reward (Landry Select Club Card) with the hostess, and when he realized we were his table, sent the manager over to answer my question. In addition, he was very considerate of the time we requested to have a glass of wine, appetizer, and talk for awhile before dinner. His timing was perfect when he came back to take our order, which was served quickly and hot. We enjoy having a good meal in a nice atmosphere, with friendly wait staff. It was a lovely way to celebrate Valentine's Day. Highly Recommend Mitchell's in Rochester!
Not great anymore. We have been here twice since Nov and it's not what it used to be - a high end steakhouse with good food and pro service.
First, we had a couple of drinks at the bar before our 6.30 reservation. The bar was about half full and there were 2 bartenders working the bar. We had to flag down a bartender to order a second drink. They stood with their backs to us without following up if we wanted to order anything more. The couple next to us ordered food and it was brought but they were not given silverware - they had to ask. The lady had old lipstick (not hers) on her champagne flute. When we wanted to cash out the bar tab we waited at least another 5-6 minutes with neither of the bartenders acknowledging us. We then had to wait another 5 minutes for the manager to process the rewards car but they never swiped my credit card so I had to hand it back again.
For dinner two times now at peak dinner hour we have had to ask for bread. The servers here do not ask anymore if we want bread or just bring it to the table. I asked for bread and it took at least 10-12 minutes as they were baking fresh bread. Again this was 6.30 on a Thursday night so why is it not ready ahead of time? I was done with the appetizer before the bread arrived. For main meal I ordered the Filet (cooked medium) it came out and I could tell immediately it was overcooked as it was charred on top. Sure enough when I sliced it open it was well done and very dry. The server agreed and took it back. Then two separate dining room managers asked how our meals were? My Mom was done with her meal, but I was still waiting for my new filet to be cooked. While waiting I observed a server juggling lemons at the bar with 3-4 other servers standing around doing nothing. The second filet was better, but then the asparagus was half cooked and they forgot the hollandaise (which was provided on the first plate). They did comp my meal, but overall it was not a great experience.
I have been to this location multiple times before but after this experience I don't think I will come back. Service given to us was terrible even though the restaurant was almost empty. Food was ok, except for ice cream which was clearly refrozen as even 5 year olds didn't want to eat it. I am starting to understand why the Birmingham location was terminated.
The restaurant & waitstaff were fine but we were seated very close to the entrance and it was so cold every time the door opened. There were many tables open that were further from the door. Just seems to me that on a cold winters night, that may be something to take into consideration when making the floor plan for dining for the evening so people don’t have to eat their King Crab Legs in a winter coat.
Good place, we like going there, only thing this time is that at night 5 members of my party were not felling that good on the stomach. But place is nice, people too, good wine and drnks selection. Service was too slow though for being at 4pm and just like another 2 tables were being served.
I have been eating at Mitchell's for several years. Their food is always good, service is good also. Years ago they played soft jazz music which made the atmosphere relaxed and more upscale. More recently they have been playing rock and roll, which seems out of place in this venue. Nothing wrong with that music, accept when you are trying to impress guests and have a quiet intimate dinner.
My family and I dined at Mitchell’s to celebrate my birthday and could not have enjoyed our experience more. Our food was delicious, the ambiance was wonderful, but above all else the service was outstanding. Our waitress, Lily, was so incredible attentive and sweet. We had a wonderful time with her and she made our experience extra special. We are frequent diners at this location but this evening surpassed all of our previous experiences, which have also been phenomenal. We are incredibly happy and look forward to returning again soon.
We were meeting friends for a nice dinner on a Sunday evening at 5pm. After asking for a booth, we were seated in a comfortable booth (half-moon shape) and told our server would be right with us. We chatted with our friends for around 20 minutes before I asked if our server was going to take our beverage order. He said he’d be right with us and that they had a large party they were serving. That is a clue into the level of service we received all evening. Had to tell him we were ready to order, that we would like bread, etc. we just weren’t his priority.
The food was OK. My husband and I shared a bowl of clam chowder and got separate entrees (we enjoyed the entrees). BOTH OF US experienced annoying gastrointestinal issues that evening which we can assume was from the chowder. We also ordered dessert (banana bread pudding). It was not good nor what we were expecting.
Fortunately, the time spent with friends was outstanding. However, in the future we will likely meet elsewhere for a nice meal.
All was great, food, service, etc. The table was a little bit late but OK, only uncomfortable thing was that we got a table so close with a different one, so every time you need to standup need to bother the guys from the next table and viceversa, some times I can bearly hear my friends conversation because the other guys. So I feel like in a cheap wedding with no space,
Overall, we were extremely dissatisfied with our service and time spent last Saturday evening. We understand we were a party of 6 and preparing our food may take a little longer but the table next to us, which was also a party of 6, came in at least 15 minutes after we were sat and they received their food before us. The party next to us not only was able to get their food before us but they also ate their meal, paid and left before we received our food. After calling a manager over to ask about our food she had nothing say nor did she go and check up on our food. We sat for over an hour easy before our dinners arrived. To fill time we asked for more bread, this was never brought to us. Our waitress was very nice but did not acknowledge our long wait nor did she try and fill the time waiting with bringing us refills or the bread we asked for. In addition, the women’s restrooms were not stocked at all. None of the stalls had toilet paper and there were no paper towels. Three people in our party also became ill after eating within an hour after leaving the restaurant.
Four of us went for dinner. The food was good to excellent, depending on the entree. Sea Bass was declared excellent. Twin tails were over cooked, tho flavor was good. My crab stuffed shrimp was good. The salmon was good, not excellent. We were told three times, sorry, the bar is backed up. We, the customers, do nor own this problem and I hope that staffing can be adjusted to compensate for the 15 minute wait for a drink. Overall I’d still give 4 stars out of five because the service was great.
