Always tasty food, excellent service and very good ambience.
It took 15 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us at the table. The table behind us sat down 10 minutes after us and had appetizers on the table before we even had a water. Drinks didn’t come until 30 minutes after we were seated. Server never acknowledged us having to wait or anything. No manager ever stopped by. The food was good, but we will never be back due to TERRIBLE service. I can deal with having to wait but don’t ignore the issue. When leaving the host and manager was standing at the host stand and they all just stared as we walked out and didn’t say a word.
We were lucky to have an outside table on a beautiful evening ( rare this spring) and that could have been our service issue....Those tables were packed and service was very very slow.... Our server was pleasant...the food good...A nice evening but my 2 nd glass of wine ( never arrived) would have been a plus
Nice, quiet and great food with a view
Amazing food. Great reservation made online. Got right in!
Excellent food and service.
Meals small portion, overpriced apps, uncooked fish. Overall terrible value
Food and service were great - not sure why us with a reservation get seated at a table next to working kitchen and pathway in, while walk-ins get quieter table??
Very disappointing as we have eaten at Mitchells in Carmel, IN and it has been wonderful. Our experience here did not represent their brand and was a step above Red Lobster in terms of service and food. The food was warm and dried out as if it had been sitting for some time. The waiter was not attentive at all to clearing dishes, placing orders or replenishing cocktails. Very poor at best! My husband and I each ordered a glass of wine once our meals finally arrived. He brought us the wine after we finished our meal and did not offer a word of apology, etc. Very pathetic all around and would not recommend this location to anyone for any reason.
We asked for a table with a view of the river and they honored that request. That was the only positive for the entire meal. Our waiter forgot to bring drinks, and then forgot to bring sweetner for the tea after being asked 3 times. Forget refills. We had to ask everytime. I ordered a side salad with ranch and he brought it with house dressing then when I brought it to his attention, he said "oh i must have missed that." He didn't offer to fix it. For the meal, my son doesn't like breaded shrimp so we asked if there was another option for a kids meal. There was not which was fine, we said we'd order off the adult menu. We ordered shrimp scampi but what came out was a pasta bowl with grilled shrimp. Again, the waiter said was very rude and said "Well i don't know what you wanted. This IS our shrimp scampi. " He did take it back and brought a skewer of shrimp. Our food was not hot barely warm, but we just ate it. At the time of payment, I gave him Laundrys Select Club card and he told us he applied it to our bill. I did not check our receipt at that time but should have because he messed that up, too. Our bill $100+ bill was not applied to my Laundrys card. We bring our family to this area quite a bit and have never had this experience. Disappointing.
I was very disappointed. The food was nothing spectacular, and the prices for the food was high. I’ve had the lump crab cake that was more the size of a slider and three pieces of asparagus for $17. I would’ve been OK with the price for the food if there was something unique or special about it, it was just a small piece of crab with a blah Tartar sauce.
Restaurant was basically empty, but we were placed next to a large group of loud people in the center of the restaurant and couples who came in after were placed in quiet booths with a beautiful view.
We go to Mitchell's all the time. However, this trip was less than stellar. While our server was pleasant I think she struggled with a large party of 6. At one point she stated that it would take a lot of time to separate our bill. Now mind you she only had to make three bills . But even if she had to make 6 it should not have been that difficult. Also we were really disappointed that they had a special menu for birthday desserts. I found that really odd considering this place is a 4 star restaurant. Why give a McDonald's desert at a high end restaurant. Lastly my food came out cold and when they replaced it the manager said nothing . Just very disappointing.
Very attentive allowed us to go off menu.
Was here on a Sunday night and only 2 other tables had occupants so was a bit hard to rate on atmosphere.
I always love going to Mitchell’s in Carmel, Indiana. My date absolutely loved going here following our trip to the New Port Aquarium! Some of the best food around! The server was professional despite her disinterest in serving us...
Our waiter mumbled the entire evening and we could not understand anything he said. There were 4 of us ; one had the chef’s choice salmon bourbon glaze and it was delicious, one had the Shanghai shrimp, scallops, and salmon - it was ok but did have a couple stems of something that tasted like pine sol., one had the 8oz filet medium rare that was very dry with a crisp outside, and lastly I had an 8oz filet ordered medium rare with potatoe wedges and broccoli. I ordered the broccoli to be well steamed. My whole plate came out well done and burnt. Manager fixed and brought me the wrong food to replace it. Husband had lobster mac n cheese that had the shell in it and a Bloody Mary that was too spicy to drink with no alcohol. Needless to say, 40th Birthday dinner ruined and we WILL NOT GO BACK.
Just a very nice meal. We love mitchells
Service was slow at times and the hostess seemed as if our presence was a nuisance.
Amazing as always. Thank you for making a night out with my parents a great time.
Excellent service. We had a party of 10 and our server was on top of everything!!! Food was delicious. Thanks Mitchell's!
I didn’t realize how good the food would be. Every part of the meal was on point!!
We were here to celebrate my birthday. No mention of this was made when we arrived nor by the server. We mentioned it to our server and he said “should I do a little song and dance?” I guess I was expecting at least a happy birthday from someone at this location.
Also, I had requested a seat by a window and they took us to a table by the bar. I know it’s based on availability but my expectation was for a seat by a window in the main dining area. There were no more tables by a window in that area. That was why I had made a reservation!
Overall, the food was what I expect from a Mitchell’s but the service was not.
Very nice place for friends get together, good food and good services.
Slow service. Restaurant wasn’t even full but we waited a long time to get drinks and our food. Hostess was telling us that they are understaffed. I would expect better service considering the prices they charge. I don’t recommend it! There are plenty of fish restaurants nearby with better food and service!
Food good not great. Service WONDERFUL. Very overpriced!!
It was a long time since the last time I went to Mitchell's @ Newport. Despite being Valentine's Day and the expected delays in service, the food was top notch delicious. I love this restaurant and will consider coming back soon. Fish/seafood products are superb !
My husband and I really enjoyed our meals! He had blackened mahi mahi and I had the fried fish. Portions were generous and delicious. We both added goat cheese salads to our meals and they were wonderful! The downside of the visit is that this was Valentine's Day and we were seated in a comfortable booth in the bar area, which became quite crowded and noisy after a large group came in to congregate at the bar. Many were standing and it felt like being on an airplane where people are lined up in the aisle looming over those seated. Not exactly romantic, lol! Our waiter was very nice and attentive, explained menu and specials very well. He didn't bring my husband's salad when he brought mine, and I believe he actually didn't hear him order it because of the ambient noise level. It was quickly corrected and as I said before, the food was very good! We will know next time to request a table NOT in the bar area for a more relaxed experience.
It was Valentine’s Day, so seemed like it was s little mite costly, but good! Server was excellent!
Had a fabulous meal. Even had to add three on to our reservation and were accommodated quickly even though it was a very busy night. Wonderful staff and food. Our out of town guests raved about the meal and service. Thanks!
Great evening, great service, delicious food and we had a wonderful time.
The lighting was dim so it was hard to see the menu. the servers were attentive but not smothering. Overall everything was good but nothing was amazing
This was my birthday dinner. I chose the chef's special (salmon with bourbon sauce). It was excellent! The root vegetables were roasted just right and I ate everything on my plate! My son had a pasta dish with seafood that he loved and my husband always goes for the seafood platter. Both were also very good!
Our server was very friendly and attentive. That always makes it a better experience!
We will be back again!
Very disappointed the the food. Wait staff was attentive, but like robots with no personality. Other than the view, it was all disappointing.
The fish was cooked deliciously with two perfect sides of vegetables and potatoes. If I had to make one recommendation it would be to be able to customize the sides (i.e. no butter).
Very good service, great tasting food. Music was maybe a bit too loud, table lights need dimmed down, and was a bit chilly inside. Overall we loved our time there and would go back again.
Wonderful restaurant. Some of the best tasting seafood I have ever eaten from a restaurant that wasn't near the ocean.
My spouse and I met another couple at Mitchell's for dinner prior to a movie. Nice atmosphere, decent food and our waitress did an extremely good job.
It wasn't busy on Saturday night, which seemed odd. The spicy shrimp appetizer and the blue cheese Iceburg lettuce salad were excellent. But the cod was okay. The stuffed flounder was very small. The potatoes were okay. I think for the price, it should all be better than okay. Not going to be in a huge rush to go back.
The calamari appetizer was disappointing -- it was dry and overcooked. The rest of our meal was very enjoyable. My husband had the cedar plank salmon and he said it was very good. I had the grilled onion mahi mahi and it was delicious -- the cauliflower and brussel sprouts were a wonderful accompaniment. Nice wine list.
