Some of my food came out cold and had to be sent back. Other than that the food was good. Clam shower was too thin but tasted ok.
The kitchen produced overcooked food for both of our orders. The server said that they were understaffed and the kitchen was having problems. The 'seared' salmon was more than an overcooked piece of fish. Although the manager checked on our dissatisfaction and were not charged for the meal it was a disappointment. We have been there before and had an excellent meal. Perhaps just a bad day.
We were seated promptly and even though our server had a large party, and a couple other tables and us, service was amazing and food arrived promptly and was delicious! We will be back.
Mitchell's is one of our go to restaurants because it is always consistent in both quality and service.
Very good food and nice Ambiance. Got seated under a vent and was cold and waiter was nice enough to get us moved. And when my husbands steak came out over cooked manager came to apologize and gave him a salad to eat while they redid his steak. We love coming here food is really good. Just wish when your splitting a Shrimp Cocktail between 2 people you got 6 not 5 LOL! We had great service and can't wait to come back when the weather warms up to sit outside.
Service has been declining for the last few years..... seating was slow, waiter got drinks wrong, all of the food ordered did not come, and it took over 10 minutes just to get the check. Little things like no refills on the water and lack of follow-up caused us to probably decide never to come to this restaurant again.... years ago it was a favorite, but no more.
This used to be one of my favorite spots to eat. The last 2 times we have eaten there the service has been bad and the food quality is slipping.
I am not sure what is going on but won’t be back anytime soon.
We ate at Mitchells Saturday night. We arrived a little early and they graciously seated us. We split a delicious spinach and goat cheese salad. I had blackened cod and my husband got the Lobster and shrimp stuffed cod, both were delicious. The service was really good. The only complaint , very small, and it happens more frequent than I would like at other places as well, is that our salad plates were not removed before the main entree was brought. My expectation of being served is the waiter is to remove the dishes after each course so the server can set the next course. This was a really good meal and we will definitely be back.
Dinner was amazing and the service was excellent. Highly recommended!
We can count on always having great food and great service!
Advertised special Easter meal and Sunday Brunch but required us to order off overly expensive dinner menu at 11AM!!
My husband took one bite of his lobster stuffed cod and took the rest home to our dogs. I tried it and agreed with him. It was just not very good. I don’t know if it was overcooked, or the ingredients were not fresh, but it was not tasty. My salmon was not flavorful, and overcooked, when I had ordered it rare. I typically enjoy the cedar plank salmon, but it was just mediocre. The roasted root vegetables that I ordered were overcooked and shriveled up. I find that the food is intermittent in quality and preparation at your restaurant. It’s either fabulous, or mediocre. Sometimes not edible as in the case of my husband’s cod.
We absolutely love going to MFM. Great food & great service.
Our meal was delicious and our server was professional and friendly!
We dined on a busy Friday night during Lent but that was no excuse. We were in a group of 6 and several of us found our food cold when it was placed on the table. I ordered scallops which were small and very, very overcooked.
Dinner was wonderful. The meal was really good. They made accommodations I asked for. They even remembered everything.
We enjoyed a nice evening with appetizers, entrees and dessert. The oyster on the half shell are always our favorite. Very fresh and exceptional good.
It was a birthday celebration for my 88 yr.old dad. Very good service & food. Perfect & easy!
we were seated and had no greeting or salutation of any kind. Numerous servers walked right by us and ignored us. After 20 minutes we left and not one person tried to stop us and apologize.
They weren't busy at all and if they were I would have been more tolerant.
It will be awhile before I return.
The food took a little longer than usual to arrive but otherwise on point.
Had a reservation for 2 on a Friday night during Lent. Expected a full restaurant and it was. However we were seated promptly and greeted by our server within a few minutes. Food was very good and service was great despite the crowd. My stuffed flounder was delicious. Served with new potato’s and asparagus. Had the house salad and warm French bread. Divine. Enjoyed my fish with a glass of Reisling.
I ordered pecan-crusted trout that had a very fishy taste to it. I never send food back, but I spit out the 1 bite I took. It was truly inedible. My husband had the same thing, & his was actually good. This piece wasn't. I then ordered tilapia which was delicious. I really love trout & will order it again. I dine @ Mitchell's @ least monthly. The waiter was very pleasant about the situation & corrected it.
Great meal, excellent wine and good service. Meals can be on the upper-moderate price range but the food was excellent.
Worst visit after many times. Management need a shake up as this year we had multiple experiences below standards.
We had a good time. The food was good. Service was excellent. Very nice waiter.
I celebrated my Birthday with some friends. It was Lent so we had to have seafood and Mitchell's was my first choice.
THANKS for making it special!
Awesome as usual.
Had the seafood cobb salad for lunch. Along with the usual Cobb salad suspects, this had a large mixed pile of crab, lobster and shrimp piled in the center. It was all fresh and delicious. The only surprising thing was that the creamy vinaigrette seemed to have been mixed with the seafood instead of the greens, so it was more like a 'seafood salad' on top of greens than a green salad topped by seafood. The dressing made it hard to distinguish crab from lobster, which was something I was looking forward to, having paid $21 for the salad. It also left the greens a bit dry. If I had it again I would request the dressing not be mixed with anything--let me do that. Service was good other than a mid-meal lull when our beverages ran out briefly. My friend and I enjoyed a booth in the bar where it was a little quieter than on the main floor.
not good. overpriced bland food. the feast had 2 shrimp, 2 scallops and 2 small fish nuggets. mostly breading. had to ask server for our sides. there was VERY few people eating in there. that should have been a big hint, but I really wanted to love this place. won't be back.
Outstanding Chilean Sea Bass as usual. Excellent service
Overall good food, loud common areas
Staff was a bit overwhelmed! Food was great - like always.
We have been to this restaurant a few times and each time we usually get great service and the food is excellent. We went Saturday and it was busier than usual so we expected to wait. We had a reservation and were seated within minutes of being there. It took a few minutes before our server came and we gave her our drinks order at this time. It took her about ten minutes to bring us water and a coke. We then ordered our food. The server then left and it took her another 20 minutes before she brought us the complimentary bread. She did not come back to our table at all to check on us. Then after we had been waiting about 30 minutes she came and told us they didn’t have pasta for my husbands dish. Then she left and came back 10 minutes later and said they didn’t have red potatoes for my dish. At this time we had been waiting an hour for our food. I then complained and told her that we had been waiting an hour for our food. She said oh I know and left and within a couple mins she brought back our meals. Mine was full of vegetables that were not presented as it was written on the menu and we had 5 pieces of shrimp on a tiny crab cake. It looked more like an appetizer. We only ate the broccoli, the green beans didn’t have any seasoning on them, and one of my sides was supposed to be grilled with sauce and feta cheese and they were just burnt. As much as I have enjoyed this place on the past I don’t think we will be back.
Great night out.
We have eaten here many times before (our friends are Landry card holders) and the food and service has been great, however not this time.
My wife ordered the cedar plank salmon and asked for it to be well done. It was basically raw and had to send it back. Our friend ordered Sea Bass and got Salmon with shrimp and scallops, had to send it back (server admitted she heard wrong). It took at least another 20 minutes to get their food. It was not put as a priority. Drinks were not refilled, unless asked. Nothing was offered in the mean time, etc...
The Manager came over and apologized a couple of times, but nothing else.
My trout was dry and luke warm and the potatoes were cold. I did not bother to send it back, since I wasn't feeling well, but ended up not eating most of it. Only one of the 4 of us got what she ordered and was able to enjoy it.
No amends offered.
This meal & lack of service was not worth the price at all.
It may be a long time before we come back if we do at all. There are a lot of great restaurants in Louisville, so we don't have to settle for this type of food and service. We did give 2 stars vs 1, only because the two meals that got sent back were a lot better the second time around. However, I can not honestly recommend this restaurant at this time.
The quality of the food was on par with a local Captain D’s but at five times the cost. The shrimp was no different than what you would receive at a Denny’s. The andouille sausage rice was like a sweet rice a roni with a small sliver of sliced sausage put in it. My wife’s sauce for her stuffed cod had the consistency of water with no flavor. Very disappointing as we eat here often and quality of the food seems to be worsening with each visit. This will probably be our last.
Service was great and the food was fresh!
The waiter was frantic, order came out wrong, wedge salad was wilted and the waiter said he would take care of it but nothing was done. Drinks were empty most of the meal. The waiter was incredibly kind but he was struggling to meet the normal standards of Mitchell’s we know and appreciate.
