The food was excellent, well prepared, good portions. Dishes came exactly as detailed but admit I was a little surprised that the Special was fish and only a few veggies - really would have liked some rice or potatoes too! Other dishes came with ample portions of pasta or fries, as indicated. My fault! One in our party was not a fish fan - could only find 1 chicken option. No (really) kids' options. Everything was appealing and completely delicious. Our waitress was the best I've ever had - attentive, friendly, helpful, patient, respectful and not intrusive. She made a very pleasant meal very enjoyable. Only a 3 on the ambiance because it felt like the tables were a little crowded together but nothing NOT to come back over. I would absolutely (and have!) recommend Mitchell's - if you enjoy seafood other than simply fried, this IS the place.

Very nice, as usual...we split the seafood gumbo which was mostly sausage & rice, but very tasty. Then shared grilled cod, mashed red potatoes, & asparagus. All very good!

When we arrived 10 minutes early for our reservation we were told there was well over an hour wait for a table. We took to the bar for cocktails to wait out the new seating time. One sip into the wine, red wine was spilled all over my daughter, her tan colored coat and the person next to us by the bar staff. They were quick to apologize (mistakes happen), handed me soda water and a rag and nothing else. No offer to dry clean the coat or comp our bar tab. During the fiasco we learned that three cooks had quit and the kitchen was short staffed. I was extremely surprised that they weren't informing people of the issues and were still booking reservations. We walked out and won't be back.

My husband and i dined Dec 27 and sat in Chris’ section and had such a good experience we told the GM we were coming back with our kids Jan 1. Jan 1 the service was nice but got our order wrong on three different levels (sides, beverages, dessert) but the bigger problem was our kids meals of cod were FROZEN upon delivery! It was atrocious! not only did our food get cold while we waited for new kid food- the mgr on duty barely said an apology and offered no meal discount. having a 6 and 8 yr d kid each wait extra long plus our own meals cold and no mere offer of getting them a free dessert or the offer of a discount was shocking. We just would have appre iated the gesture. The waitress was sweet but not empowered to do anything. We are disappointed as we live close and wanted to make this a new family place but having raw and FROZEN kids meals (the most simplistic!) and the lack of professionalism from the manager on duty leads us to not return.

It's possible that our experience was underwhelming because we visited on New Year's Eve, but my husband and I were very dissapointed in Mitchell's. The service was slow, the sides were unseasoned and bland, the lobster was rubbery, and my steak was served so rare that it was dripping blood. We ordered the 3 course meal and the included dessert was never offered, but we were charged for it. By the time we were offered our check, we were so ready to get out of there that we didn't even mention dessert to the server. The food is definitely not worth he price.

Disappointed is the best word for my evaluation. First, we waited for 20 minutes for any server to visit our table for drinks. I had to go ask for our server. When the meals were served, the servers served the wrong meals to 2 guests. Midway through the meal, we realized 2 guests were given the wrong meals and we informed our server (Chris). He informed his Manager (Patrick). Patrick addressed our table and said he would take care of the issue; no remedies were offered and he left our group.
When the checks were presented to us, there was nothing offered for the issue. I asked the waiter and he said Patrick said the 2 guests ate their whole meal so there would no changes in the cost of the meals. I asked to speak to Patrick.
When I asked Patrick about the issue, he said since both guests ate their meals, there would not be any discount. I said if we knew that, we would have sent back the meals and had the original orders remade and brought to our guests. I then asked to speak the to the GM - Tood Fern. Mr. Fern was very understanding and apologized for the issue. He said Patrick would come see me, apologize and take care of the issue. When Patrick came to our table, he just handed me the check and began to walk out. I asked him to wait until I reviewed the bill. It was a $2.00 discount. When I asked him about the bill, he said that was the difference between the 2 meals and walked out. He discounted 1 meal and did nothing for the other guest.
As I was leaving, I informed the GM about my disappointment of how this issue was handled and he was surprised. He said he would discuss this issue with Patrick and told me to call him and he would take of a dinner for us in the future.
Todd Fern was great but not for the free meal offered but the way he talked to me and listened.
We have ate at this restaurant several times and it has always been great. I hope the Management learn from this incident and this does not happen to anyone else in the future.

Very, very good meal for three. We don't usually go to this restaurant, tho it's in our neighborhood, but we will put it on the short list. Husband's sea bass was tender and delicious, brother's oysters were excellent, and my ahi tuna bowl was the best I've had. Service was prompt and unintrusive. FYI, much of the fish is farm raised.

Having reservations, we were seated promptly. The restaurant was full and there was a wait for those without reservations. The wait staff must have been understaffed because service was very slow. Orders from the bar (wine) were very slow (about 20-25 minutes) and the request for additional bread was not met. One guest in our party found a plastic nip (tip of a squirt bottle) in her salad. The gumbo I had was not good. I remembered it being authentic a New Orleans recipe and it was more like a seafood bisque without rice.
I have enjoyed Mitchell's in the past but will not be anxious to return after this last visit. It was not a good experience.

I ordered a hot toddy and they brought me a lukewarm glass of straight whiskey with a lemon, it was awful. The food was delicious but it wasn’t very warm. Our waiter seemed to be overwhelmed.

First ever Christmas dinner out with my husband...stuff Cod was dry crusty over cooked along with season less sides. Dinner was terrible!
While I wasn’t charged for the meal, I cannot reconcile my excitement for looking forward to an excellent meal on a holiday with a loved one with my disappointment for the evening and the terrible meal and my time which was totally wasted.

Was disappointed. Waited to be seated even though I booked reservation. Waited another 45 min before they took my order. Took 20 min before my drink order arrived. And then they didn’t bring me the soup I order but they proceeded to include it on the bill. I pointed it out and it was removed but overall service was not good.

We were seated without an issue. The restaurant was not busy. Our server was Jay and was very attentive. It took 15 minutes to get our first drink and again for our second drink. Jay joked about it, but we didn't order a third drink. Our entrees too an hour and fifteen minutes to arrive, after ordering. I asked for the manager. He said that the server should've made him aware of the situation. "We just had a meeting about this." The manager apologized and left the table. Our meal for three was over $230, including tip. Our lunch took 2 1/2 hours...VERY disappointed. I won't return.

Thank you for making my husband birthday speacil! He loved the stuff flounder with crab, and my pecan trout was amazing! Everything was above and beyond! Started with happy hour with very nice bartender and appetizers. Then dinner was exceptional! Great food and service all the way around.

Celebrating Christmas with friends, we ordered drinks & wine before dinner & they did take a long time to arrive. We shared lobster & shrimp crusted cod, potatoes & asparagus which was very good! Our friends had French onion soup & sandwich & a Caesar salad with salmon. They both enjoyed theirs too. Very nice for Christmas 🎄

Slow service with low number of patrons in the restaurant. Many tables left dirty and unattended. Drunks slow to be served and not refreshed. Food slow to come and was Luke warm.

As regulars to Mitchell’s, we have noticed that the quality of the service has diminished over our past few visits. This is disappointing as it is one of our favorite restaurants. Specifically, this time the wait for a server to be assigned was long, we went through four different servers, and the staff seemed overwhelmed. Our orders came out wrong or undercooked, and the process seemed disorganized. We still think Mitchell’s has the best fish in town and we hope they can sort this out.

No one came to our table to take drink orders, give water or anything for 10 minutes. We were surrounded by waiters and were ignored. Finally a waiter came up and was super nice and friendly. He definitely was not on top of getting refills etc. My pasta had not been properly drained and was watery. The waiter was nice

Very disappointed tonight.......the last two times we have been there, our server mentioned she was new and it showed. Service was very slow and had to ask for plates to be cleared, water to be refilled, plates for dessert we were sharing, etc. Appetizers were good, but the entrees lacked flavor.

I have visited Mitchell's many times before, and have written positive reviews. Unfortunately this experience was extremely disappointing, and it may be a while until we return. Our server was very nice, and apologetic throughout our dinner, however she seemed unable to do anything to resolve the absurd length of time it took for us to be served. After ordering (for four) at 7:00 we waited for our first course, two clam chowder and a Caesar salad, At 7:45 an assistant manager came over to explain they had run out of clam chowder, but we making more. We ere happy to substitute something else, and would have gladly done so 40 minutes sooner if given the chance. We did substitute, and received our first course. At 8:20 the same manager came back to explain why we had not yet received our entrees, but other than apologizing had no reasonable answer. We finally received our food - luke warm and overcooked at 8:25. It was an hour and 25 minutes after we ordered. The assistant manager did reduce the cost by 50% of each entree, but still charged for beverages and dessert.

The morning following our visit I received a call from the Interim General Manager, who apologized, asked for information of what happened, and offered to "do something special" for us when we come back. Not knowing exactly what he has in mind, and not having confidence that our next experience will be better than our last, I don't think it is likely we will take advantage of his offer.

We'd been wanting to try Mitchell's for some time, as we love seafood. We were immediately seated at a cozy booth. There were several large tables of patrons, but the noise was more energetic than uncomfortable. Our waitress seemed distracted by something, although she took our orders quickly and efficiently. She seemed disappointed that we didn't continue ordering drinks, as she asked several times if we wanted another - we didn't as we were driving - although our water glasses were empty and that seemed to take a lot longer to fill. I had the New England clam chowder - rich and warm, with lots of clams - perfect for a chilly evening. My wife had the spinach and goat cheese salad, which she quite enjoyed. She had less luck with the entrée of seafood pasta. The shrimp and scallops were small and limited in number, although properly cooked, but the pasta and sauce were gummy and not appealing. A bit more liquid might have helped, plus a more generous helping of the seafood. I had the spicy crispy shrimp appetizer as my main, which was very nice. I would have preferred a bit more spiciness in the dish, but I ate every shrimp (except a couple that my wife scooped up!), so not bad at all. The plate was sided with some steamed white rice and a marinated cucumber salad, so it was well balanced. With these things in mind, I think the pricing was a bit high, given the quantity and quality of our dishes. Overall, I was pleased with Mitchell's, with a few tweaks of the food it would have rated 5 stars across and the price would have been very acceptable.
