Mitchell's Fish Market - Livonia Ratings and Reviews
I got an email informing me that in honor of " Sandwich Day," they were featuring a lobster /shrimp sandwich with fries and slaw for only $9.95. That convinced me to go and I did not regret it. The sandwich was great. I think they do this a couple of times/year.
The service was very good and the restaurant was nice and very clean. The food just wasn’t up to par for the price. Vegetable sides were sparse and over cooked. Portion size was small. The fish was fresh and cooked well. The food is not as good as it use to be.
The salmon was under-cooked and raw, and not well-done as ordered. Several utensils still had food stuck to them when the table was set. Many food crumbs had not been cleaned off the booth seat and table. The glass for drinking water was very dirty and did not look like it had been washed at all.
Mitchells is a great restaurant for any occasion. The wait staff weren't hovering but perfect. Our food was the steamed sea bass - we asked for it from the dinner menu. Aside from the price being a little steep at $36 for a 7oz portion with sticky rice and steamed spinach it was amazing - truly delicious. I know that the fish is a pricey one, and we said we didnt' mind getting that portion. As it was a business meal it wasn't a big deal, and it was so delicious!!!
All 4 of us ordered surf and turf. 2 of the 4 filets had to be sent back. 1 was butterflied and orderd well done and brought to us medium, not once but twice only for our guest to return it and say he no longer wanted it. The other filet was ordered regular (not butterflied) and medium and that filet never brought back until it was time to leave so they packed it in a to go box to take home. They did not charge us for either filet. However, we were not there to receive free food, We were there to get good food and to be waited on by a pleasant person . The waitress had zero personality and barley smiled. This is the second time we have come here in the past 4 years and both times were a disappointment. We will not be returning.
I don't like seafood so we don't go to seafood restaurants very often. I loved everything we had! Calamari to start. I could have eaten the dipping sauce they served as a soup it was so good. My husband had the jambalaya and said it was meh. I had the caprese salad and it was perfect. I had the ribeye with loaded mash. Steak was tender and and cooked perfectly medium rare. My husband had a seafood dish (stuffed shrimp and lobster?) and he said it was great. For dessert we had a mini Sharkfin pie and the chocolate bundt cake. Should have just split the large Sharkfin pie because that's an amazing piece of art for your mouth.
The service was also great! Our waitress knew what we wanted before we did! She also had the right balance of not there too much and where is she?
The crowd was a mix between business dinners, special occasions, and everyday dining.
The only complaint I had is in reference to the table and chairs. The tables are low so I felt like I was bending as I was eating and my chair kept sliding back throughout the meal because of the floors. But that's no reason to not go and enjoy!
