Mitchell's Fish Market - Livonia
Book your next event with us
This was my sister and I first time dining there and it was great! We really enjoyed the experience and will definitely be back!
I don't recommend coming here on a weekend because the food does not come out with the best quality. However we have had better experiences during the week.
Both my wife’s and my dinner came with barely like warm smashed red skin potatoes. My cod was covered in so much paprika you couldn’t even see the fish. The green beans, it’s always green beans, are always way to undercooked. We keep giving Mitchell’s a try but nothing changes.
Stopped in while driving by. Shared a nice house salad. Grilled shrimp was very tasty as was impossible meatballs zucchini pasta dish. Server was pleasant & efficient.
Would have liked a nutritional menu, however, as well as more vegetarian choices.
Also forgot to “opt” into points as required in updated app...What’s that all about. It was much better when points were automatically added.
Great Italian and Fish entries. Outstanding Server. The must Try Shark Fine Pie.
Everything was great...Food was top notch....Our server , Kylie was outstanding...
if you want decent food with a no frills. Salad (which used to be great was fair) the items that were supposed to be in it had practically none. It was a bowl of lettuce. I asked that they look up our frequent diner number and they could not find it, which happens every time. Then I have to go home, find the card and call them back. It is a pain in neck.
My husband and I have gone to Mitchell's for over 8 years and will continue to go there for years to come.
Awesome food and staff! Will be back!
I had grilled shrimp and crabcakes and the shrimp was way overcooked. It was hard. I would think that a restaurant that specializes in seafood would do a better job on cooking seafood.
I received the mailer that mentioned double points plus it had been a while since I’d been there. So we took the family (5 adults and 3kids(3, 5, and 8)). In the past, the bill would be around 150-175 with tip. This time it was over 340. I’ll probably have to take this restaurant out of the rotation.
Great and much more consistent our last several visits.
Service was great. We were seated promptly upon arrival and the waiter was very polite and took our orders quickly. Food was delicious
Our waiter Stephen was great. He made helpful suggestions for how to get the fish cooked, was attentive (and funny) without being overbearing. However, the Wahoo, and the salmon were overcooked and dry. We were with friends from out of town and didn't make a fuss. We'll be back, but hope the kitchen improves. Also, don't get the Wahoo.
Good meal, good service
Restaurant was relatively empty at 1PM on a Sunday, but we were seated right next to a table with screaming children. Food was unimpressive. More than $20 for a salad with a couple tablespoons of seafood and a cheeseburger my husband said tasted like A&W. Won't return.
Food is fantastic! Service was subpar- we waited a LONG time for bread, the food, and the bill. Felt like we were not taken care of as well as other customers because we didn’t order drinks. Ordering two entrees, soups, and a kids meal would have still resulted in a good tip (which the server still got regardless of the poor service), so it was disappointing.
The god was very good just not enough for the money spent. I will return I line the restaurant.
My wife and I were having a celebratory dinner. We ordered from the $25 early diner meal offer. She ordered a fish dinner, crab stuffed flounder that she really enjoyed. I ordered a sirloin offering. First it came out virtually uncooked, then when it came back it turned about to be nearly one half fat and for the most part inedible. Caveat: don’t order meat in a restaurant that specializes in seafood. I’ve never been disappointed at this restaurant with any seafood dish.
Food was great as always. Service is starting to lack. Had to ask for bread and water. Was not offered the prix fare or any other specials - bummer.
Always a great dining experience. A great way to spend my husband's birthday.
Good but expensive
Food cold, shrimp tiny and not tasty. Crab cake VERY spicy and overly breaded.
Wonderful place to enjoy some of the best fish dishes I have ever had. Always live to come back here
Great weather for some outdoor dining! Nice patio with the always good food!
Excellent food +great service from Steve, the desert was wonderful
It was our anniversary dinner. First time visit, so was not sure what to expect. Based on the menu prices thought it might be a little more up scale. The food quality and choice was ok. The service was not what I expect for a $160 dinner for two. It was Saturday night so they were full, but the place is very loud. We were seated next to a couple of large tables with everyone trying to out talk the others. Not sure we will be back.
Fantastic food and service!!
Still good, but maybe a bit too casual. New recipes needed.
Very good place for seafood. Not so sure on the steak side.
I enjoyed my steak. My family did not like the appetizer sauce with the calamari.
I made this reservation based on reviews and I regret it. For a moderate-higher price restaurant the server was forgetful, slow and inexperienced. The food was even worse. I should have listened to my family when they said it had a bad reputation. The fish was overcooked and cold, the asparagus consisted of three sprigs with no spice and under-cooked. The redskin potatoes were deep fried and under-cooked. Maryland crab cakes - they were tasteless mush cakes. I had to go to the hostess to get the check because our server was not around and finally after being insulted by an employee, I asked to speak to a manager but no one appeared, so I gave up and left. Please do not eat here as the food and service are awful- White Castle does a better job!
Very good fish restaurant in Livonia, particularly related to the freshness of the fish. Service leaves room for improvement and is very much depending on the individual person. (We came already many times.)
Noice level is rather typical for restaurants in USA, for foreigners too high, but Americans love it. Accordingly it is not so suitable for business dinner unless major discussion / negotiation is over before dinner.
Delicious food and great service tonight.
Neither the hostess nor the wait staff seemed to be happy to be working.
The service was pretty good, but you should be ashamed about the portion size of your $45 “Fathers Day Surf and Turf”! The lobster tail was barely larger than a shrimp (with no drawn butter or lemon to complement) and the filet potions were less than. 2 spears of asparagus and about a dozen very al dente green beans rounded out the guest of honor’s meal. My regular surf and turf was the same. We will not be back.
We had reservations and was seating right away. Food came out fast.
Took 20-30 minutes to get our first drinks. We ended up getting appetizers before drinks because they didn’t have any cups washed. We never received refills. 3 out of the 4 entree dishes on our table were wrong or under cooked. The crab cake appetizer comes with ONE crab cake for $15. Staff was not apologetic just offered one free dessert at first until we told him twice to remove the meals we never even got to eat. The vegetable medley appetizer with green beans, carrots and zucchini was completely raw and not steamed. Will not be back.
