We have been to mitchels several times and this was the worst experience we have ever had. The wait to have our orders taken was entirely too long. The tables were so close together that several times servers bumped into our chairs and had to hold their trays over our heads just to get by. My wife’s salmon was not even cooked so we asked politely to send I️t back. When the manager came back with the food he was extremely rude and didn’t even bother to apologize. They also took her fork away and didn’t bother to bring one back and we had to wait another ten minutes before anyone bothered to come around to ask for one. By this point her food was cold again. We were extremely disappointed by their lack of concern for the mistakes they were making. I️ can’t in good conscience recommend them to anyone after this experience.
We have been here at the bar for dinner many times in the past. This is a first time in the dining room for a busy dinner hour. Seated promptly for our reservation. Waited a long time for server. Waitress stopped by to introduce herself and then started to leave without taking our drink order. She finally returned with the wrong bottle of wine. After a wait, came back with the right wine but did not know how to use a cork screw. ( I opened our wine after watching her struggle.) Took our food order and did not return for 30 minutes. The table next to us was seated, served and was leaving before our cold dinners arrived. The manager stopped by to comp our meal and desert. He seemed to be doing that allot. The server came by with the check and charged for the desert. Could be an off night, or Mitchell's could consider better training for new managers/wait staff.
This was our first visit to Mitchells and we were not disappointed. We had an excellent meal. The service was outstanding and food fresh and delicious. The chicken parmesan was one of the best my (Italian) husband has had in a very long time! He took our waitresses recommendation and was VERY pleasantly surprised. The rest of the family had seafood and all dishes were wonderful.
We often go to Mitchell's at the Waterfront and I expected the same experience at the Galleria. It was not...My fish was dry and tasteless. The dessert (shark fin) was not as I expected.. My husband and I didn't eat it. and I typically have quite a sweet tooth. The sour dough bread was gummy and under baked.
Our server could not have been nicer or more attentive. Kudo to him.
My wife and I went to Mitchell's for anniversary. We had gotten a gift card from our children. We are originally from Pittsburgh and had never gone to this restaurant. It was great and now want to find out where the other Mitchell's are located in the country!
Two of us got the salmon, one was the Coho the other the Atlantic Salmon on cedar plank with asparagus, balsamic glaze, goat cheese, sweet peppers and zucchini. Another had the ahi tuna rice bowl. Two others split the Mitchell's Market Trio. Food was prepared and served to our liking. Very crusty sour dough bread was given to the table. One couple ordered the carrot cake; it was HUGE. Four of us had a piece and much more remained. Our server was Adam who was very pleasant and attentive. My husband especially like the atmosphere in the bar.
This is our second visit to this location and we went for my significant other's birthday. The main reason I took her there is because the last time she said the shrimp cocktail was "orgasmic". Unfortunately the shrimp this time didn't measure up, just didn't seem as fresh as before.
I had the lobster bisque which was good. We both ordered The Perfect Pair and when the server returned and asked how it tasted, I mentioned we had no utensils (reminded me of Taste the soup scene at the.end of Coming to America). The seafood and asparagus portions of our meal were excellent but the smashed redskins were dry and lukewarm (maybe from waiting for utensils). Even though I specified that we were celebrating a birthday when making the reservation and when the restaurant called to confirm (they even asked for the birthday girl's name which made me think they were doing something special) I had to mention to the server at the end of the meal about the birthday. He mentioned that a choice of two desserts were available on the house. She ordered the sharkfin pie, a multilayer ice cream, peanut butter and fudge concoction. I ordered the luxury coffee. In all honesty we were not extremely impressed with either.
I am sure we will return at some point because overall we enjoy the food but not based on the service this visit.
I ordered cod on a Saturday evening. It was under-cooked and watery (so, frozen until cook time). The plate and the other food items were barely warm. I did not see my server until the check came, by which time I was too disgusted to complain.
This particular meal was upscale chain dining at its worst.
Mitchell's is a restaurant that knows the public and gives the experience of enjoying a meal together. No tv,s in the dining area, no game playing machines. It was our 47th anniversary and we still have lots to talk about and enjoy each other's company......not texting. We appreciate that Mitchell's still affords people that wonderful opportunity.
We've eaten here several times over the last year, but noticing on our last few visits, the food has become worse.
For our anniversary dinner, both dishes came out cold and were remade. While mine was decent, my fiancee's dish was missing the crab. We did eat most of our meals, but even the taste of both dishes were bland. Happy Anniversary to us.
The manager (Allison) came over and comp'd the appitizer and apologized, but to be honest, I expect better from this premium establishment.
went for Sunday dinner. I had the chef's special salmon with crab topping and friend had the triple seafood of salmon. shrimp and scallops. Both absolutely delicious. The rose wine was wonderful. Service very good. This has been a consistently good choice in the South Hills
