Mitchell's Fish Market - Cleveland Ratings and Reviews
This was the second time in a row for poor service and my final visit to Mitchell's Fish Market in Woodmere Village, Ohio. The service was horrible and even though last time it took more than 1 hour at the bar for our dinner, I decided to give it another shot. The excuse last time was that hundreds of lobster tail dinner orders were processed that night, so that was why everyone else who came in after us were served prior to us. The restaurant was not crowded this time, so the expectation of getting top rate service was in order.
First, they didn't bring any bread until we asked and we were given 4 pieces for the 6 of us. Next, my soup had not arrived until I asked at least 20 minutes after ordering it. After asking what happened, the server stood by the kitchen and finally brought it over with an additional wait. My Swordfish took at least 50 minutes to arrive, though our grandchildren did get their orders earlier. 2 people ordered shrimp cocktails and salads which came separate. Once I mentioned my problem, the server offered to send over the manager, but by then, I declined. There's no hope when the kitchen seems to be their issue and they are certainly undeserving of any business.
Time and time again, we are impressed with the service and the food at Mitchell's Fish Market - Cleveland. We were celebrating a birthday on this visit, and our server made the meal special with a Mini Shark Fin pie with a candle for the birthday recipient. The service is properly paced (never rushed), and the food is always presented beautifully, and tastes even better.
I found the food to be mediocre at best . The mussels were great but the main courses left much to be desired . I found my wife’s scallops to be bland ; the salmon I had was undercooked . For a couple that eats out frequently at such a place as Mitchell’s , this was sadly disappointing .
Been going here for 5 years. It is our special occasion restaurant. We usually go here 5-6 times a year. We have seen a decline in quality. This past weekend was the worst and we won't be back. The manager Carmen is worthless and has no idea what a managers job is. I had fish and chips and it was terrible. Wife had stuffed shrimp and lobster and spent the evening in the bathroom. Wrote Landry's and waiting for a response. Time to find a new seafood restaurant.
It's been a while since dining at Mitchell's. I always enjoyed the food and service. This time, the service was very good, but I had a few issues with the food, My favorite dish was taken off the menu. I guess they change their menu once in a while. The waiter assured me that it was a popular dish & would return. I ordered the 6.00 cup of clam chowder. It was not hot. The waiter brought it back hot. That was fine. It was ok, but way too salty. I would not order it again. I ordered a shrimp cocktail. It came with a little cup on water with dry ice. The effect was nice, but I believe that putting that cup of dry ice in with the shrimp is not a good idea. I am not a complainer, but this experience could hurt their reputation and business. I forgive & will return & give them another try.
It had been awhile since I was there, and I remember it being quite a bit better. Our food was lukewarm, tasty but overpriced, slow to come out. Our server was very friendly and patient, but not trained in the small details (reflection of the restaurant , not them) Loaf of bread came without a serrated knife, mussels came without a shell bowl...all this had to be asked for. Wine was overpriced also for the selection carried.
First time ever bad experience at Mitchell's. It was the server, she was new and should have been shadowing someone. She forgot to bring our water first, finally did that. Took our order, brought our salads, but somehow did not enter our entrees, I inquired after almost an hour went by. She said dessert will be right out. I told her we had not eaten, nor had she even been back over the table to check or bring food out. Apparently, she walks away from the table and forgets everything, this job is not for her.
First time we ever had sub-par service. We've been there many times over the years and met some friends for dinner prior to our move to the west coast. Had to remind our waiter for some bread at least three times. Entrees arrived incorrectly, and then the side dishes arrived much later -- long after the protein was done. Nothing was hot. Waiter was hard to find, and the restaurant was less than half full. Disappointing visit this time around.
Took some out of town friends to Mitchell's for dinner (they love seafood), during and after dinner all they did was rave about the food, service and ambiance. I guess they (and us) were exceptionally pleased with Mitchell's and will definitely return in the future. This is a "must" for seafood which by the way is all freshly prepared. This is a 5+ Star restaurant for sure !!!
We always look forward to selecting a catch-of-the-day to prepare as we desire. My trout and my husband's wild coho salmon were delicious. I was worried that a wild coho (not king) filet would be too thin so our waitress Erin showed me the available choices and I picked an awesome filet for my husband. The calamari appetizer that we shared also was superb!
I booked the restaurant for a business dinner for 15. Everyone found something to their liking on the menu. The drinks were great and the food was delicious. The staff and in particular our two servers, Matt and Seth, were exceptional. They catered to all our needs in a professional and unobtrusive manner.
We dine out a lot, and I'll sum this up in an old joke. "Can't complain about the service------there isn't any. Here's the bullet points:
1. Was taken to our table by the hostess and 15 minutes later had to ask her to send us a server.
2. Ordered drinks and asked for water on the side---after 2nd or 3rd requests got water
3. Ordered calamari ----came at room temp and no side plates. We stole some from an adjoining table.
4. Ordered entrees, still no bread. Well into the wait asked if bread was available, and she said yes. It finally came with the entrees.
5. She didn't have that many tables, however, she did spend a lot of time chatting it up with one table.
This is the first negative review I have ever written about service. The food was good, but not in a hurry to take friends back for a repeat "treatment".
There were six people in our party and our food and service was excellent. We selected Mitchell's because we all wanted good seafood. We were not disappointed. The only negative, and it's a minor negative, was the portion size of the seafood pasta dish. My husband ordered this as his entree and he received a smaller portion of pasta and seafood than another guest in the party received. My husband is an "average" portion person and I could tell he was disappointed in his portion as he was eyeing my grilled cod. Yes, I hated to do it, but I did give him half of my cod. Anyhow, that being said, we would definitely go back as all the meals were delicious and the service, as I said, was excellent. A very warm and friendly atmosphere.
The food was not very good at all for being a fish place. The bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer - the shrimp were way over cooked. I had the king crab dinner and these were the worst crab legs I have ever eaten in my life and I eat a lot of king and snow crab legs.
