Mitchell's Fish Market - Cleveland Ratings and Reviews
We had a party of 6 for my mother's birthday.
4 out of the 6 dinners were not very good.
3 of us ordered the pasta primavera with shrimp and crab. There was no crab in the pasta and the primavera sauce was watery.
The other order that was lacking was a lobster tilapia. There was no lobster in the stuffing.
We bought this to the attention of the server and she had the manager come by.
He told us that the crab and lobster were shredded. If that was the case, then the shredded pieces were too small to see or taste.
He did take one of the entrees of the bill.
Mitchells describes themselves as "...a premier upscale-casual seafood restaurant concept featuring the absolute freshest seafood in Cleveland"
The meals we had were hardly upscale. It was more like a Red Lobster with upscale prices.
Very disappointed. Atmosphere was good and our server was fine. The two meals that we ordered, their salmon special and the stuffed flounder were not very good. The potatoes and the vegetables that came with the meal were good. Didn't finish either. Been to other "fish" restaurants that were much better.
I had clam chowder and plank salmon. My husband had a salad and crab cakes. Everything was delicious. The crab cakes tasted like the ones we ate in Maryland and the salmon was perfectly seared crisp on the outside and flaky on the inside. The bread was warm and crusty and I showed restraint indulging in 1 piece while my husband finished the rest, it was that good. For dessert we split a slice of key lime pie that was just the way we like it: just tart enough to let the flavor of the lime shine through. We only asked for an extra fork so I could have a few bites of dessert and instead the chef drizzled two plates with key lime sauce and cut the piece in half so we could both have our own. Now that's customer service! So unlike the restaurant Flour that charges $2 for an extra plate. The only problem was the middle booth against the windows didn't have any lighting and it was so dark we had to use our cell phone flashlights to read the menu. The waitress said she would tell the manager. Other than that, the dinner was perfect and our waitress was attentive and very sweet.
Every Christmas Day we come to Mitchell's Fish Market for our Christmas dinner. Our children spend their Christmas Day with their in-laws, so we come to Mitchell's to spend a nice quiet dinner after the hustle and bustle of the family gathering on Christmas Eve. Mitchell's always has great cocktails and an excellent wine list that pairs well with the entrees. I especially enjoyed the holiday three course menu specials. Additionally, the staff is always friendly and accommodatting. On the many occasions during the year, I have never been disappointed in my experience at Mitchell's.
super service, waitress was great. Food is very consistent. We go about once a quarter when we crave seafood. Crowd is a bit on the older side, hence the quite mark but that is nice once and awhile. Also have a great little bar you can sit in if you want a different feel.
Local secret: If its raining or snowing you can park in the lower garage. Take the stair or elevator, exit right then left into the shopping area. Walk around to the left and you can enter from inside, leave your jacket and umbrella in the car.
My husband received a gift card for his birthday so we made a reservation on a Saturday night. He ordered swordfish and I ordered Shanghi salmon, shrimp and scallops. The entrees were $26 each. We each had an appetizer and drink. The bill was $100. I just don't feel like the quality of the food warrants the prices.
Food was not at all spectacular and not worth the menu price. Smashed potatoes which are offered with almost all of the entrees were bland and tasteless. They lacked salt and seasoning. Crab cake was mostly filler. The restaurant was fairly noisy and our server was average. After spending $150 for 3 people (no alcohol or dessert) I expected to leave happy and full. I was neither.
Service was bad. We sat for over 15 minutes with no helping us. I finally told a server and a server finally showed up. She was slow, did not give more water until asked, did not bring a tea bag in time. You will probably not have us to irritate again. We eat out very often and will go where we are treated professionally
There were so many things wrong. For starters, the “clean” silverware had greasy fingerprints all over it. The waitress took our appetizer order and then disappeared before taking our entree orders so the appetizers arrived while we still had our menus and had to navigate around them to eat. It took so long for the salads that they arrived only a few minutes before the entrees, so the table was overcrowded with dishes. Then, when we were finished with our salads and put the dirty dishes to the side, they weren’t taken away. Also, it took 3 asks to get bread. And to top it all off, my scallops had sand and pieces of shells in them and I cracked a tooth.
Thanksgiving Dinner for 4: Great; everything was as reserved including a booth request; everything on time: table ready; more than adequate wait persons; servers (even got two drawn butters for our lobster!) ; etc. promptly checked in and seated; Everybody got exactly what they wanted and ordered-- hot and ready to eat; sourdough bread very promptly brought to table.
It exceeded my expectations for a Thanksgiving dinner -- other places there are glitches of all kinds. Not here! Food was great and hot. Planning to go again and certainly next year! Ages 17-80 we all liked the experience very much! Congrats to everyone who worked so hard on Thanksgiving so we could have a pleasant family Thanksgiving.
This was the second time in a row for poor service and my final visit to Mitchell's Fish Market in Woodmere Village, Ohio. The service was horrible and even though last time it took more than 1 hour at the bar for our dinner, I decided to give it another shot. The excuse last time was that hundreds of lobster tail dinner orders were processed that night, so that was why everyone else who came in after us were served prior to us. The restaurant was not crowded this time, so the expectation of getting top rate service was in order.
First, they didn't bring any bread until we asked and we were given 4 pieces for the 6 of us. Next, my soup had not arrived until I asked at least 20 minutes after ordering it. After asking what happened, the server stood by the kitchen and finally brought it over with an additional wait. My Swordfish took at least 50 minutes to arrive, though our grandchildren did get their orders earlier. 2 people ordered shrimp cocktails and salads which came separate. Once I mentioned my problem, the server offered to send over the manager, but by then, I declined. There's no hope when the kitchen seems to be their issue and they are certainly undeserving of any business.
Time and time again, we are impressed with the service and the food at Mitchell's Fish Market - Cleveland. We were celebrating a birthday on this visit, and our server made the meal special with a Mini Shark Fin pie with a candle for the birthday recipient. The service is properly paced (never rushed), and the food is always presented beautifully, and tastes even better.
I found the food to be mediocre at best . The mussels were great but the main courses left much to be desired . I found my wife’s scallops to be bland ; the salmon I had was undercooked . For a couple that eats out frequently at such a place as Mitchell’s , this was sadly disappointing .
Been going here for 5 years. It is our special occasion restaurant. We usually go here 5-6 times a year. We have seen a decline in quality. This past weekend was the worst and we won't be back. The manager Carmen is worthless and has no idea what a managers job is. I had fish and chips and it was terrible. Wife had stuffed shrimp and lobster and spent the evening in the bathroom. Wrote Landry's and waiting for a response. Time to find a new seafood restaurant.
