Mitchell's Fish Market - Cincinnati (West Chester) Ratings and Reviews
Mitchell's is a mid-priced restaurant with a nautical theme. They have a variety of fish/seafood selections and preparations. Should satisfy most seafood lovers. The service was efficient. It wasn't crowded even on a Friday night. The decor seems to simulate a dock-side market location. The dining are is separated from the bar so it is relative quiet with no difficulty for holding a conversation.
It was nice and quiet, not to mention child free. We were spending more on a meal than we normally would because it was our anniversary. Dining in an upscale restaurant, I expect that the other patrons leave their children at home, or at least keep them quiet and contained to their table. Having said that, the dinning experience was exceptional from start to finish. The food was presented in a timely manner and it was also served at the proper temperature. We will dine there again.
Friday early evening dinner - i had flounder, with asparagus; wife had the seafood trio with salmon. Food was tasty, salmon was nice and fresh. My flounder was light and flavorful. Key lime pie was rich and delicious. Service was prompt and friendly.
Seem to remember tablecloths - didn't see any this time.
Made reservation and requested table-to be decorated due to our anniversary. When we arrive I told waitress that I made special request, she said I didn’t read it, I be back, never came back. I ask waitress for a manager! Christina was her name, she said she will take care of it also never came back. Had bad experience, next time will go to Carlos and Johnny’s . Nothing like that ever happened there, top notch service. Fish Market was just convenient. We have learn.
I was underwhelmed by Mitchell's. I thought it was a really nice restaurant if you like seafood. The exterior and foyer matched that. Host staff was great. Then it all fell apart after that. The dining room couldn't decide if it wanted to be formal or casual. The servers looked like you plucked them out of Bob Evans by how they were dressed. Our server never provided her name and though friendly, it took her forever to come back to us. She didn't seem to care. We were going to do desert, but after waiting 20 minutes, when she finally offered a dessert menu, we had to pass and ask for the check because we were going to a show after. We were out of time. There was nothing wrong with the food, it just wasn't amazing. I wouldn't go back. There are too many other restaurants at that price point with nicer atmosphere, service and food.
They have a special every Tuesday in Oct., 2 lobster tails, asparagus & smashed red skin potatoes for $22.00. We came for that. Our waiter was nice & efficient but he had too many tables and was always running all over. It was difficult to get his attention. The lobster was yummy.!
Monday was a holiday, so it was good opportunity to eat out. We selected Mitchell's because it is nearby. Hubby ordered Scallops, beautifully seared and presented. I had ahi tuna rice bowl. Nice and satisfying. My tea was very hot and delicious citrus flavored. Very reasonable prices too. We will always go to Mitchell's if we want some good seafoods that is nearby.
Disappointing table. Right by service bar. Crowded. Very noisy. Food was good but nothing very unique. Even desserts were pretty ordinary. Carrot cake was massive but just ok. Several of our group had scallops. They were prepared very nicely. Sides pretty boring. Had bisque - good but not very hot.
Our 6pm reservation for 8 was met with wait staff first setting the tables with silver ware, napkins, etc. Everything very rushed and seemed out of control. No wait staff approached our table for 15 minutes. I reported this to the front door hostess and she said she would see what happened. Jake then appeared and said there was miscommunication regarding assignments. Hostess told us they had 300 reservations that night and would be very busy. Well, they were understaffed for that amount of business. Jake tried, but service was sloppy and most all of our order was overcooked. We sent the mussels back as they were too dry to eat. The salads were mixed up - some with the wrong dressing or elements missing. The 6 oz steak looked like 3 oz. The sides were basically cold on the plate - mashed potatoes, green beans, broccoli, etc. It was really just an astronomical mess. And of course, our bill was incorrect and had to have it adjusted. Doubt we would ever return.
Mithcell's is always consistent when it comes to their food. My wife and I go occasionally on date night and I don't think we've ever been disappointed in the meal.
Our service this time was not very good. The waitress took too long to wait on us and come back. At one point, she told us I'm going to drop off these two waters and be right back. I watched as she went to at least 3 other tables before she came back almost 10 minutes later. So it was almost 20 minutes before we got our drink order.
We won't let the disappointing service keep us from coming back as they have great food and drink.
Dinner was great , as usual. Lobster tail special was tasty, great value and prepared perfectly. Presentation was kind of generic but hey, we cared about how it tasted more than how it looked. Service is usually top notch but that wasn't the case for us. 'Might have been a new server. We were slow to be recognized, slow to get beverage service, had to ask for bread half-way thru the entree. Most significantly the server wouldn' t speak up at a normal audible level. Several times both my wife & I had to tell her we couldn't hear or understand what she was saying, I think she was relatively new and kinda shy....she'll learn. :-)
