Mitchell's Fish Market - Carmel

4 people came to our table stating they were there until our server came around. By the end of the dinner we still weren't sure who our server was. There was only about 5 tables sat in the restaurant at the time. The salmon and chicken came out dry and on the same plate because a server wrote it up as one dish even though it was two different people ordering. We are Landry Select members and were never asked if we were, points not added to our account for our visit and Landry's states it can't be added after. Don't care about the points but a $200 meal for 3 adults and two kids, was definitely not worth the price.
We've been to Mitchell's many times since it opened in Clay Terrace. Unfortunately our experience this time was disappointing. Two of our orders were wrong which our server corrected. My husband got the stuffed flounder and the fish portion was smaller than the size of a playing card. The vegetables on my plate were cold. I got the fish trio and the salmon tasted like it had gone bad. I let our server know and the manager came by and apologized. We were celebrating two birthdays and we received 2 complimentary desserts which was nice. I hope they were just having a bad day and this is not a trend. There are so few seafood restaurants in Carmel and our prior experiences at Mitchells have been so much better.
The service was just okay. The bartender did not know how to make a dirty martini! I found this a little shocking when they have a full service bar.
The food was wonderful and the service was very good....the restaurant was a bit chilly.
I had the Shang Hai sampler; 3 scallops of which 2 were over cooked. 3 shrimp, which were chewy and seemed old. The salmon was good, but every once in awhile got a musty taste. Not sure what that was. Husband had the crab stuffed flounder, said it was very good. Could have had a few more potatoes with it, and a few more asparagus spears. He also had a wedge salad, with blue cheese dressing. Needed salt. Calamari was good. Recommend more ponzu sauce with it. Service started off good, but then dropped just a bit. Overall, good place. Won't stop us from going again. Will make sure I order something else.
The food wasn't as up to par as usual. Disappointing.
Good food and ambience
We ordered from the Landry Select Club menu. The beef was over cooked and the potatoes were not hot. The wine was excellent, 14 Hands.
We had a wonderful dinner even when my wife was not pleased with her cut of swordfish as it was kind of thin the chef came out spoke with her and within 10 minutes had a thicker cut thy was excellent!
Very good service and we would definitely return!
We always enjoy our meal at Mitchells. The server was very pleasant and helpful.
Another great experience. Excellent service and food quality,
It was so wonderful experience. The waiters where very helpful. I’m very happy to return in the near future
Great meal, superb food and great service.
Server was not knowledgeable about menu items.
Food was overpriced.
The crab stuffed flounder was gooey and flavorless.
Won’t be back sadly
When we were greeted we were asked about the Birthday and our party.
Our waiter assumed no dessert and just delivered our bill.
Food was great and so was the service. Great place to eat and we will return!
Wife’s fish was served raw incorrect change was given
It was a great experience the wait staff was awesome the food was great the prices were very reasonable a great place to take a first date or a romantic date night with your significant other
We had a great experience with our friends.
Brittany was a amazing waitress & made sure we were very well taken care of!
My husband and I always enjoy dining at Mitchell's. We have sat outside the last 2 times we've eaten there and experienced a lot of waiters/waitresses at our table. We had 4 this time. It's really hard to know who the main server is. I'm not sure if it's an outside thing since we have not experienced that as much when dining inside the restaurant.
mostly the food was really good but my lobster tails were mushy
We had a great time. Dinner was fantastic & so was the service!
We've enjoyed Mitchell's the few times we've gone over the years, but we were disappointed this time. It took more than 10 minutes for the hostess to return and take our drink orders, and another almost 10 minutes to get the drinks and have a server approach us. Yet, the place wasn't very busy. The food took a while and was nowhere up to it's usual high caliber. The server complained a bit about being harried, but many tables were empty. It is definitely not worth the price anymore.
My food was cold. The appetizer came after our soups and salad. Our waiter did not bring butter for the lobster until she was asked. The quality of the food has decreased since we were there last.
Great atmosphere, service, and food. We will definitely be back!
We had great service and the food was good but I feel like it was over priced for what we received.
Terrible experience!!! Left the restaurant 15 min after having arrived. I was sit in a dirty table and after 15 min nobody had come to my table. Tried to call the waitress and I was ignored twice.
Great food and service.
Mitchell’s has gone way downhill in the last year or two. It used to be fresh, perfectly cooked seafood, with great service, but now everything is mediocre. The prices are too high for a mediocre experience!
We frequent Mitchell's in Carmel quite a bit and the food is consistently good. The service on Sunday night was slow and it wasn't that busy. Maybe they were light on personnel?? New server? Not sure what the issue was. We will return because we love the food but it's a bit disappointing when the service is not up to their usual standards.
Three of us at dinner, all overcooked - way overcooked. Took so long to get a glass of wine, I sent it back (everyone was done eating). When she arrived with the bill she made a point of telling me she had it taken off. I didn't drink it, or even touch it, yes it should be taken off.
We had a large party of 11 for an informal birthday dinner celebration, and although it was not part of my request, we were put into a private room which was quite nice. Unfortunately, the result was more 'out of sight, out of mind' as far as service was concerned. Getting drink orders taken after seating was quite delayed, and then receiving the drinks was even longer. Ordering appetizers then took another delay, and when they came they were wrong. Dinner ordering seemed straightforward but not all of the soup/salad orders were processed such that those who were served and waited for the others to come ended up having soup (gumbo) get cold waiting for the others' orders which didn't come until we had to prompt for them. Lastly, this restaurant is rated as a moderate/high price point, but for my share of the bill (4 people including 2 school aged kids) the total was more than I would have expected for my full family size of 6. The food was good but I would not describe it as fine dining commensurate with the cost. There are several other more affordable and enjoyable options in the Clay Terrace location we will go to before coming to Mitchell's again.
Patrick, our server was awesome! The food was very good and served quickly! Only complaint is the quality of the cocktails served. The cosmopolitan tasted like Kool-aid and wasn't chilled at all. They also served it in a margarita glass.
A bit disappointed ... the service would have changed the rating. Ordered lobster bisque soup which was actually excellent, but the wonderful sourdough bread was brought long after the soup was gone at our table. I had the lobster and crab stuffed fish and it was disappointing. The mashed potatoes were very good however. The drinks were excellent, and I had a variety of them :) but the service was really very slow and I don’t know why because there were hardly anyone customers at an early dinner during the week.
Pretty high bill for an experience that really fell a bit short from it’s potential.
The sockeye salmon was far from fresh and pretty tough and tasteless. I’d guess it’s been around a while. It was a pretty small fillet too. The cedar plank prep did little to improve the taste. The vegetables (zucchini and peppers) were tasteless and in very small in size. In the past these had been served up in ample portions with the grilled Tuscan treatment and were quite good.
The Managers’ presence was seen and felt, but they probably need someone to watch over the food selection and prep more closely. My glass of wine (Meomi Pinot Noir) was quite good.
No complaints on my wife’s fried shrimp dish.
We went in for my fiancé’s birthday dinner as we had been there before and it was pretty good. It was dead Server was great at first with our little one then suddenly disappeared. She came back 20 mins after we had placed our orders and asked what we ordered as if she was just checking. 40 minutes after that we STILL had not received our order. We let the manager know and she went into the kitchen. The server came out all frazzled with no explanation other than she was sorry. He manager then came over with a huge lie about how a 9 top came into the bar and their order got put in before ours. Our food came out and our toddler had had it with waiting ( she also promised his food out first which took 40 minutes.) While we were walking out we asked the manager who just happened to be standing at the door with no apology where this 9 top at the bar was, as it appeared empty, and she CONTINUED to lie saying they were in a private room. It wouldn’t have been so bad if they would just h e been honest instead of lying... and they couldn’t even keep that straight! Never again!
I have been to Mitchell's 6 or so times and always received an excellent meal and excellent service. The fish is typically fresh and their service has been consistently timely and elegant. That is why my overall rating is 4 stars instead of 2 or 3. My meal, lobster & shrimp stuffed cod, was very average. The cod should have been light and flaky, but was hard to cut. It seemed like a frozen pre-prepared dish that had been microwaved. Moreover, the service was exceptionally slow. Our server was great - one of the best I have ever had there, but we waited too long for our salad, then we waited too long for our main course, then we waited too long for our dessert. Hopefully, our experience was the exception. Maybe they were short handed for the holiday weekend, but clearly there is room for improvement.
This was our first time to eat at this restaurant. It was Sunday evening and they were not very busy. The waitress was friendly and attentive but it took 1.5 hours for us to complete our meal because the food arrival was so slow. We thought by going during a time they were less busy we could get in and out faster but, unfortunately, it took much more time than we wanted.
The food was very good, and greeters were very nice and professional
Very nice atmosphere. The service was excellent and the food was appetizing.
