all good...I do not have time to write a 50 charvter response..........
After a lot of research over the years we count Mitchell's fish fry as one of the very best on the west side of the metro area that includes Waukesha county. And that's in addition to a very nice menu of other fish and seafood.
I usually love Mitchell’s but on this occasion, Mother’s Day they must have been understaffed- the shrimp cocktail tasted like it was just thawed and rubbery- they brought me the wrong dinner which my family insisted I just keep since we waited 30 min just for drinks and they knew if I sent it back I would be eating alone!
Despite it being a very busy Mother’s Day, our server Bridget explained the menu in detail to our table. She was charming and very attentive. Our meal arrived promptly and was delicious! Our mothers were very impressed with the service, food and cleanliness of the restaurant.
Friendly staff with great service. All of our meals were excellent!
On Mother's Day we experienced great service and a great meal enjoyed by all. Our food was fresh and hot when served. Service was prompt and pleasant. We will visit Mitchell's Fish Market again.
The restaurant was busy I’ll give them that. Our server forgot about us for about 35-40 minutes. Food came out cold. Manager had to keep interrupting dinner to grab wine from behind us. Bathrooms (women’s) were disgusting. Then to top it of the manager charged someone else’s card for our dinner. We got free desert out of the deal, but I will not be going back here. Terrible Mothers Day experience.
Everything great! Come here almost every week. Michelle is great
We came for Mother’s Day. The food was lovely. Our server barely checked on us, served everyday table food before us. We waited almost an hour from ordering to receive our entree. We could tell it was busy, but we just wished there would have been any communication about the food taking longer and an apology.
The food was good the drink I had wasn’t that great as I would have expected. And the service was slow, not sure if understaffed.
Excellent meals... Salmon and grilled sea bass were perfectly prepared!! Cassie waitstaff was professional and very attentive!! Lobster bisque was delicious as always!
Excellent food and very accommodating wait staff. We can't manage the whole Friday Fish Fry each anymore, so they were more than willing to split it and add extra things. The dessert was excellent, too!
The food is generally overpriced in my opinion. Smaller portions. Our waitress had no personality, didn’t smile once and had no clue about the wine list. Mitchell’s used to be more like Fleming’s but I fear it’s more like Applebee’s. Probably won’t go back for a long time.
Just great, that is why I go to Mitchell’s often!z
We were celebrating our 48th wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful meal and definitely plan to go back.
Good Our guest had young kids with them so it was kind of loud and rambunctious
We took our teenage granddaughter here for dinner before a concert. We were seated promptly and the waitress came immediately.Dinner was served in a timely manner.
I enjoyed the chilled vegetables with buckwheat noodles dish. A nice combination with different flavors and a departure from my usual.
Others had the cedar plank salmon and the scampi, both delicious. We all really enjoyed the sourdough bread!
Our server was friendly and accommodating. The food was served at the appropriate temperature-hot food hot, chilled dish chilled. This is something that’s getting harder to find, even in the better restaurants.
All in all a very tasty and pleasant dining experience.
We were seated right next to a family with two young children- one with an ear piercing scream. The dining room was nit crowded. Put a little damper on our quiet evening out. The food was awesome. They brought out the entree’s before we finished our salads. Did not like feeling rushed as we were celebrating a birthday! They did offer a complimentary dessert which was thoughtful and appreciated.
The pecan crusted trout and salmon on couscous for lunch was great and the waitress was very attentive.
Great food and friendly staff. I miss the select two combo that used to be on the old menu, though.
Great as always !
Food was ok at best. For the price of the food I’d rather go to a nicer restaurant that’s not in a mall parking lot. Most likely won’t be back.
1. The tables were too close together- back to back!
2. The choice of seafood and preparation was very good!
3. The glob of smashed potatoes with most entries was too much, it overwhelmed the main entrie.4
4. The house salad was good. But the lettuce over whelmed the dates and pine nuts. The vinergarett dressing complimented the salad.
Great food, friendly courteous and great service.
My wife and I often go out for nice dinners. This was a special date night for she and I, and especially special for her. She loves seafood- we most often go to higher end steak houses. This was more up her alley. We have one challenge when eating out and that is I need to eat gluten free. We requested a gluten free menu when being seated. The hosts provided us with a gluten free menu. Our server approached the table and was going to make a recommendation. She said that her favorite item on the menu was some seafood dish and then went to point it out on the menu. She said that it is under "specialties" and then it wasn't there. She was looking on the menu for the item she recommended as her favorite, which certainly left her authenticity in question. She did appear to be "acting". She told me that she thought my gluten free menu was an old one. I asked her if she could check on that. Then showed us the "special menu". I asked if one of the appetizers was gluten free, she said she would check. She left, came back a minute later and asked if we were ready to place our order. I felt blown off. I just ordered a filet mignon (safe). She then recommended toppings, I asked if the toppings were gluten free, she said she wasn't sure. At that point, I just old her that I was going to stay safe. Gluten free is not a preference, it is necessary. I'll be sick for days if I have gluten. Unfortunately we are seen as a nuisance. I wanted appetizers but got no answers. The filet said that it came with mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. Came out with mashed potatoes and hollandaise, but no asparagus. I asked, and was told that they no longer came with asparagus. Filet was one fo the best I ever had. No complaints there. It wasn't very busy, server could have been more attentive.
The seafood was fresh and entree's were prepared perfectly. I was very happy to find that Mitchell's has a gluten free menu. Lastly, Susan was a pleasant and very attentive server.
Great food and great service! Accommodations were comfortable and noise level was OK.
The restaurant smelled "fishy" when we got there. The fried cod was not good. The shrimp and scallops and hush puppies were great. The service was great. Clam chowder was also good.
My fish was burnt so that spoiled the taste of entire meal
A regular spot we eat. Always excellent service and food.
This was a perfect location for a group of ladies to meet. The parking lot provided adequate space to park our cars, the service was friendly and attentive, there was a nice Happy Hour offered at the bar in mid afternoon, and the food choices were numerous and quite tasty.
My server was slow, you could not get a drink special on a Sunday night without sitting at the bar, and the menu was the luncheon menu was provided which did not feature the dinner prices! That was disappointing but the food was as delicious as ever. The food is why I would still recommend Mitchell's Fish Market. Hoping these items are fixed the next time I visit.
Cannot give five stars because the food was not consistently excellent. The Maryland Crabcake appetizer was perfect. My crab stuffed flounder was tasty but the asparagus appeared old and some of the stalks were woody. The gumbo was flavorful but some of the rice was undercooked...hard and crunchy. My wife’s entree, shrimp, scallops, salmon, and sticky rice was disappointing. While the rice and salmon were good, the scallops and shrimp were steamed rather than broiled. They were unflavorful and bland looking.
We did convey our opinions to the waitress and the manager, both of whom expressed attentive concern.
We wanted to love our experience, but simply have to give it a less than complete endorsement.
Mitchel’s fish fry is one of the best in town. We also ordered the Spring special pan seared salmon with a pea purée. I loved it.
Outstanding place. Love the food. Outstanding service. Best old fashioned I ever had.
Due to a ice storm on our way downtown, we decided to cut our trip short and look for a restaurant in our immediate location. Mitchell's was the closest so in we went. Our dinners were delicious. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. Fish is usually not my favorite thing. Bones and smell can ruin a meal for me. Mitchell's does fish right. I would go back tomorrow...without the ice storm.
My wife had scallops with green beans and mashed potatoes and i had salmon with green beans and sauteed spinach. We both thought the protein and beans were nicely prepared. We do not like the mashed potatoes much; they typically seem dry, and we don't prefer to have potato skins in the mixture in general.
We enjoyed a merlot and a gin and tonic. In general we enjoy your mixed drinks.
We come to Mitchell's fairly often, because we think the food and ambiance are enjoyable without being too highly priced.
The food was very tasteful. The house salad was a generous size and the dressing was very good. I had the shrimp scampi. The shrimp was cooked to perfection. Order the seaside bloody Mary. It had a bit of spiciness that lingered on the back of your throat for a bit. It was perfect!
Great food, as always. Would definitely recommend
