Took 1 hr 25 min to get our food. People who sat down after us left before our dinners arrived. The waitress said all the right things and did her best to get the food out, but she can't wait tables and cook the food. Manager said all the right things too. He picked up our dinners. The manager and waitress did the very best they could with an uncooperative slow kitchen. We have enjoyed their food in the best, but nothing tastes good after such frustration. I hope the kitchen gets straightened out. We will give it a good long wait and try it again.
We went for Happy Hour and were not disappointed. There were lots of selections and the food we picked was plentiful, very tasty, and very reasonably priced. We had the shrimp pot stickers, the Margarita flatbread and the lettuce wraps. It was almost too much food for two people. The total, with one glass of wine, came to only $22! We'll be back.
Service sucked. The waitress spilled 2 glasses of water on us and our coats. The waitress was apologetic, it was an accident and could happen to anyone .
The things that did stink were that it took forever to take our order, then get our drinks came late and wrong. After sitting a long time they brought our meals and forgot the apps. It’s was a cold walk to the car with wet coats in 20 degree weather . I will not rush back
I was celebrating my daughter’s birthday. The food always consistently delicious, however the service was the worst I’d ever received at Mitchells. The servers timing was terrible. She was not cognizant of ‘proper’ timing to approach a diner from the start of dinner until the end. We felt extremely RUSHED throughout the entire experience. As soon as we sat down, she asked if we wanted a drink. We hadn’t even gotten a drink menu or wine list. She never asked if we wanted water. We obtained a wine list and it hadn’t been a minute later, that she came by and wanted to take our drink order. We informed her that we hadn’t even had enough time to review our options. She appeared irritated that we hadn’t made a ‘snap’ decision to place an order quickly. She then reappeared in less than five minutes asking if we’d made a decision. We both felt pressured to order something quickly. It was awful! Dinner was no different in us feeling rushed to make a decision. As we ate & talked she kept coming over to the table to see if we were done eating. She actually grabbed my plate & I had to tell her I wasn’t finished eating my meal. I ordered a carry out for my husband and she brought it to the table holding the bag at an angle so all the content slide to one side of the container inside. It was a terrible presentation. All the food inside the container was smashed together because of how she carried it and delivered it to the table. I was so embarrassed. This was my daughter’s first time here and I’d spoken so highly of this restaurant. The service was ill executed. Perhaps because of her youth and lack of experience, she had no clue as to how to gauge when enough is enough and too much of a servers presence is just as bad as not enough. Poor execution... I will more than likely decide upon another location when celebrating a special event. U am a frequent diner card holder with his restaurant group, and there are some great options within the group to choose from.
We each had the Shanghai Sampler plus my eating companion had a bowl of lobster bisque which she rated as the best ever, and key lime pie which she had to take part home. John R was the best waiter I have had at Mitchell's. Kudos to his solicitous attendivness. Altogether a wonderful evening experience.
My husband was pleased with his salmon dinner. My filet mignon was okay. I asked for it butterflied and medium/medium-well. It had char on it, was crunchy in spots and was not butterflied. The salads were amazing. My husband ordered the spinach and goat cheese and I ordered the house salad. It was packed and pretty noisy. At times we could not hear our waiter but everyone was enjoying themselves.
This visit to Mitchell's was less than stellar. Part of it was due to other patrons we were sitting by watching loud videos on their phones, but the food seemed to take forever to come and some of it was warm/cool when it arrived. Hoping this was a one time event and will give it one more chance since my niece and father were very happy with their meals.
We had the three course specials and ate in the bar to get the Happy Hour wine prices. The bar staff was really pressed - they needed one more person. Our shrimp entree was excellent, but the lobster topped tilapia had sauce that tasted like canned tomato soup. Also, the service was slightly lacking. Not the usual Mitchell's meal we have.
It took our waiter an excessive amount of time to initially engage us; however, once he did his service was excellent. I had the crab stuffed flounder. While the crab was tasty, the fish itself was pretty bland. Presentation was good, and the prices were reasonable.
Our group of cousins gets together once a year for lunch and we try to find a restaurant that everyone will like. We've returned to Mitchell's time and time again and have always had a GREAT time! From the warm welcome by Montreal at the host's desk to our server, Devon, the 3+ hour lunch couldn't have been better. We never felt rushed; service was perfection and the food - well, we wouldn't return multiple times if the food was not wonderful! My salmon was perfectly cooked; the scallops that others ordered were delicious, the crazy specialty pie for dessert is not to be missed. We love this place (and I come from Chicago for these lunches). We'll be back - and if you haven't tried Mitchell's yet - GO NOW!
Service was very slow even though the place was nearly empty. Ordered the Shanghai seabass with side of stir fry vegetables. came out cold and tasteless. They didn’t add the sauce on the fish then had to wait for them to redo my veggies because they were cold- definitely were not fresh veggies either.
Nothing that stands out from this experience. The menu is predictable, void of experimentation. In the service side, I was surprised that the server placed our entrees in the table before removing our appetizer and salad plates. When I asked him to remove them first he replied that he would take them and then proceeded to push the dirty dishes aside to make room for the clean plates. I found this very odd for a place where our entrees were $30 +.
This was less than satisfying. While the waitress was attentive the rest of staff lagged in a variety of departments. I ordered the same cosmo twice and received two different drinks 'due to two different bartenders'. In addition to that, the food lagged in timing and some of the dishes were more cold than warm. As far as taste goes, it was just alright. The best was the asian shrimp and the least inspiring dish was the undersized mussels that should have tossed back in the bay. To summarize, I would not return.
We chose Mitchell's based on its seafood menu selection and atmosphere, but what looked too good to be true, well...This restaurant is an overglorified Red Lobster. The food was less than mediocre, from the soggy calamari to the overcooked underflavored sea bass. We were a party of 4 and all individuals in our party were disappointed. Our server was not able to recommend any dish bc she informed us that she does not eat at the restaurant... I could go on, but the point is that the dinner was not even close to par. You live and you learn I suppose.
The calamari was overcooked and my ginger salmon had to be returned because it was undercooked. I do overall approve of the restaurant and that was why i was surprised that our food was presented as it was. The waiter was attentive and did address the salmon however the restaurant wasn't overly crowded so we hope this was a single occurrence.
Pros: The evening was pleasant and our small group enjoyed the food and beverages. Our waitress was congenial and knowledgable of the wines and menus. Her service was quick and efficient. The restaurant overall was attractively decorated and clean. Parking is directly across the street and easy to use. There is valet parking available if desired.
