The food at Mistura is ok. It’s not amazing and it’s not terrible. However when you factor is the price, that’s when the food becomes below average. For the raw fish items like the ceviche and the sashimi, the quality of fish is lower than what I would expect at the price Mistura is charging. Moreover, they drown their raw fish is sauce to disguise the low quality of it. We also tried the lomo saltado was fine.
Things really take a turn when you factor in service. While the food does come out quickly, the time it took for someone to take our order after we were seated was over 30 minutes. Added to that, the parking situation is ridiculously confusing (which is the city of SLO’s fault) yet the staff at Mistura did nothing to help us understand how to park at the restaurant despite us asking pretty simple questions of them. The host is least helpful of all. We found that we were short on the quarters to pay for the parking meter and the host refused to exchange dollars for quarters with us and actually told us to go to come other store down the street to do so. Mistura knows what the parking situation is, to make it easier for guest it would seem to mean reasonable that would keep a few extra quarters on hand or at least check for quarters rather than flat out refuse us.
Overall, I would not go again and would not recommend Mistura to anyone else.
The food was very tasty! YET, my husband had the be short ribs. It has one short rib and a large hunk of fat (about half of the rib). I had the lamb shank and it seemed a bit dry served with dried rice and jicama. Staff wonderful and restaurant very clean. YES, I will try again.
We had a nice time. The decor at Mistura is cool. The food is ok. My sense is that you need to go at least 2/3 times to figure out what the best dishes are. We ordered a couple clunkers. It also seemed as if the waiters were new. Maybe that’s a covid thing. They seemed to be just taking orders rather than advising. All in all, it was fine and we’ll probably go back. They might be trying to overcomplicate things.
The food was fantastic! Best ravioli I’ve ever had! My husband said the Arroz con Marisco he ate tasted like how his mother used to make it…we have enough left over for another meal! The margaritas were unique and delicious!! So glad they have outdoor seating, with heaters available, during this pandemic!!
Food is great, presentation is wonderful. A bit loud and no outside seating.
The food was decent but like many people say on their reviews, the menu is a bit overwhelming. We got the pulpo appetizer as well as the squid ink tamales. Both were fantastic, frankly we probably should have stuck with tapas. We each ordered a “main” my lamb shank was underwhelming and to say that my wife’s sushi was standard would be an overstatement. In any case, if you go here, consider doing some research ahead of time or else you’ll be smacked with a large menu and so many choices you won’t know where to turn. We enjoyed things overall, just wish we had been a bit more prepared and with some decisions ahead of time.
Good was good. I had better dishes from Mistura in the past. The drinks overpriced $46 for 2 drinks and my entry $26. Makes no sense it would be a while for me to return any time soon.
Wine club trip!
One plate of food was not hot but was delicious.
Door to patio was constantly opened and closed serving a group on the patio bringing in the cold night air.
Server was fabulous.
Great place. Different flavors. A bit pricey but worth the indulgence
Loved the food and atmosphere! Great for date night
Menu has way too many options, the food was very sub par for a place with gastronomy written on the front door.
We had the same mashed yams on 3 of our 5 dishes.
Would not recommend
On two separate occasions I ordered the Escabeche and it is amazing, the fried yucca appetizer is yummy (no additional room in my tummy)
Dessert: Machu Picchu, very mystic and salacious.
The food was amazing. One of the best places to dine in SLO. The service was a bit spotty, but the intentions were sincere.
Got here and just because I have a service animal they seated us outside, which is not legal for you guys to do. The person that showed us to our seat told us even if he is a service animal you have to be outside. (banned us from inside) "Everywhere in the country, customers have a right to bring service animals into restaurants. The ADA supersedes any local health department regulations banning animals" needless to say that we drove an hour to get here and we are celebrating our anniversary, so we decided to leave because what you are doing is wrong and nobody with a service animal should have to deal with that.
Went in excited, came out underwhelmed. Menu should be smaller to focus up. Tasty but not memorable.
Great food and service.
The food at Mistura is outstanding. Very unique with a beautiful presentation. Wait staff were attentive and friendly.
We both enjoyed our cocktails, starters & mains. Service was good, not rushed. We sat outside on the patio, which faces the shared courtyard, and were plenty warm enough thanks to the heaters. Most diners were inside, which was a stylish space. You can view the beautiful dessert options and chocolates (not on the menu) as you enter, and buy either to go. We'd definitely eat here again.
Ordererd: Chilcano, Mango Margarita?, Rupa Rupa (plantain Conchas a la Parmesana (scallops); Señor Lomo (lomo saltado); Portobello Saltado
This restaurant is fantastic. We chose to do small plates to share amongst a family of 4. Everything was unique and delicious. Save room for dessert. The desserts themselves as well as the presentations of them are well worth it!
Our party of 4 were totally pleased with our dinner at Mistura . Each dish was unique and delicious . It was an epicurean adventure unmatched in our recent past . We hope to find many more opportunities to dine here again.
We shared grilled octopus and filet mignon. The tulip mouse desert was the true highlight of the night. I regretted that didn't take one home.
I can’t say enough about the food, it was amazing! We went on Christmas Eve with my 12 and 9 year old boys and they enjoyed the experience! We ordered the squid ink tamale which we ranked as our number one appetizer choice. The Octopus starter I thought was ok but was my boys favorites. Our meal choices were the lamb shank, fish of the day which was amaaaazing sea bass, braised short ribs and the rice dish which was similar to a fried rice eh to me but my family loved. They also have a dessert bar separate from the restaurant.
Service was ok we had a few waitresses on rotation at our table, bringing us food and drinks that we hadn’t ordered. Water service could have been more frequent and checking in on drink orders.
All in all I would definitely head to this restaurant again and again whenever I’m in pismo!
Food, service, Setting all excellent. However, given the state of the pandemic I was shocked at how closely they sat people. Should have had more distance between tables.
The most unique flavors and incredible presentations. Everyone was awed by the food.
A mixed experience. The appetizer course offerings were more successful than the entrees. The burrata salad was great. Our fourth appetizer was forgotten for a long while, which slowed dining down significantly. However, we weren't in a rush. One of the entrees had an inedibly fatty portion of beef, another (saltado) featured quite overcooked slices of beef. The tuna was fine, as was the half chicken. Creme brulee was more a scrambled egg consistency than silky. At one point our server forgot that she had come to refill waters and left the pitcher on an adjacent table. Eventually we helped ourselves. So, while the Peruvian flavors were a fun experience, it wasn't the greatest.
The bartender ( possibly sn owner?) was outstanding! Excellent and very special cocktails! The service, dinner and desserts were incredible! We have been several times but last night took three first timers who are still raving about this awesome experience! Thank you for an incredible night!
We loved this place. Peruvian good is delicious and this restaurant really does a fabulous job. Every dish was
Amazingly tasty. The service was wonderful. We will for sure come back when we are in SLO.
Another great meal at Mistura. Good service and tasty food is well presented.
Our server did a magnificent job of bringing variety to our table. The appetizers were delicious. And when we made it to entrees, we were served everything from a meat free option to the lamb shank. We loved our experience and look forward to our next visit 💕
The food was incredible!!! Our waiter was extremely helpful! I look forward to going back to SLO ago eat here!
Amazing food, fresh and inventive!
The food is so amazing and the service was really quick
Perfect dining experience for lunch celebration with large family. Food and drink were great and everyone loved it. Thank you Mistura!
Memorable graduation lunch!
The appetizers, main course and dessert were very delicious one of our guest did complain about the steak not having much flavor but majority of us enjoyed our food. . The service was just okay. They seemed very rushed and not very polite. Unfortunately they were out of some of the desserts our table wanted to try. Because our party was over 6 people we had to give a 20% tip.
Dewitt was wonderful!! And the food was excellent. We had come in pretty late and it was our first time having Peruvian food and Dewitt was very gracious and helpful. He helped to steer us In the right direction so that we were able to put in our order before the kitchen closed. He did this in such a way without making us feel rushed or that we were putting him or anyone else out. And the food did not disappoint.
I highly recommend this place. The empanadas, black tamales, cebiche and lamb were our favorites paired with their Albariño wine (Paco & Lola).
What a treat this was for my two giant kids and I!
The food was outstanding and the service was excellent. It was a perfect spot for our company Christmas gathering! Highly recommend.
Great food. Great drinks. Highly recommend
