Mistral - Sherman Oaks Ratings and Reviews
I hope you accept my revue as objective in spite the fact that my wife and I have been steady customers pretty much from the get go nearly 30 years ago. Food is outstanding. They use top notch, fresh ingredients. Cooking is extraordinary. Attention to detail is unfailing. There is a large selection of California as well as French,Spanish and Italian wines. Mixed drinks are fabulous. Now the best part: SERVICE! The best. Friendly, professional, helpful ,informed and fast.
Reservations are essential. The restaurant is completely booked every night.
Mistral never disappoints, from the time you sit down from your first tasting to the delicious coffee at the end. The service is impeccable, romantic ambience, wonderful servers, attention to detail, divine food, and of course a welcoming Maître d named Raul. An outstanding choice to dine!
Our first visit. Impecable but not intrusive service and wonderful special menu options. Pricey but was not disappointed. Three different fresh fish chosen by our foursom, all excellent! Would recommend for a special intimate dinner but they can handle probably tables up to 8. That increases the ambient noise however in ths small space If you are lite eaters, the portions are generous if you want to split entres and try appetizers to get a nice variety.
I always love going to this restaurant. The owners are very welcoming and I always have a wonderful time here. I have never been disappointed with anything I've ordered, and they have a wonderful wine selection, even if you just want a glass of something with lunch or dinner.
It was small, bistro like and hopping. The food was very good and our waitstaff was very attentive. My only negative was that the front of the house or maitre'd seemed to be rushing us which distracted from our nice time. Also I would have liked a choice on the doneness of my pork chop which was slightly more well done than I would have wished for. Definoiely would revisit but with stronger instructions.
BTW there were open tables all night so that they werent rushing us
because others were tryimg to sit down, somethimg I am extremely tuned in to.
Mistral has a nice atmosphere and the service was good to very good (though I have come where it has been horrible)----we had appetizer (soup/salad), main course (filet/risotto) , desert (2 soufflés) and 2 glasses of wine each --- w/tip it was $240. The food is decent, nothing we can't cook, but sometimes it's nice to go out.
My wife and I had a wonderful anniversary dinner at Mistral. The cocktails were flavorful. The food was exceptional, fresh and beautifully presented. The staff was very attentive and brought us a complimentary Chocolate Souffle for our anniversary! Overall, a great evening out for us.
We have been to this restaurant hundreds of times over the years. As a result, we have a tendency to take it for granted. Went there recently, late night, spur of the moment and after most of the crowd had left. Without the crowd and noise level, we were able to take in what makes the restaurant so special. Beautiful and comfortable. The food and service were impeccable even though we were just having drinks, fish and vegetables. BTW, I think most people go for the steaks - which are great - but the fish is even better. It may be a little intimidating because it appears that everyone is a regular and recognized. Not the case, they try to make the experience great for everyone, even first timers. Can't recommend this restaurant enough whether for a special occasion or just a last minute late night meal.
Suggested by my client, Mistral is a hidden gem. The service is amazing and the food is even better. Definitely worth the drive from anywhere in LA! Our group shared several appetizers and ordered meat and fish plates for main course. Capped off the evening with some special lava cake to celebrate a birthday. I highly recommend a visit soon!
