Excellent fries and onion soup - with the drive from Westwood. Fantastic wine list! Enjoyed the Rombauer Zinfandel immensely.
Incredible wine, food, service and atmosphere! I can’t wait to come back.
Good food & nice for dates, special events or casual.
Made reservations in advance for a romantic bday. I’ve eaten here several times and unfortunately this was the worst. The food was barely warm. Service took forever. Was chaotic. And they forgot to put a candle on the cake -I called and mentioned it to them 2x. Doubt I’d return at this point. Disappointing
MISTRAL...a lovely and delicious Valentine’s and 25th Wedding Anniversary dinner served in a very Parisian setting. Shrimp salad to start, entre lobster poached in butter (so yummy), and Grand Marnier soufflé for dessert. Everything was wonderful. The Grand Marnier soufflé was the best, ever. Good cocktails and excellent service. Looking forward to my next dinner at Mistral.
We went for a valentine’s Day anniversary lunch and thy were so sweet to bring out a Chocolate soufflé on the house with candles. Amazing food too. My husband loved his pasta and I lived my salmon salad. Magnifique
Loved his place. Great food and beautiful room
Very loud! Hard to hold a conversation. On the other hand, great food and good service. Rather pricey.
Service is awesome ! Food great !!
Great staff has an old nyc vibe !! Try and true . Love the place .
I met a friend with whom I wanted to catch up. Hard to do in such a noisy, bustling restaurant. As always, it was busy, albeit fun. They should have a couple of wines that are less expensive by the glass. And the food is just on the far side of a fair value. But if you are on someone els'e expense account, go for it. The branzino was amazing.
Arguably the BEST restaurant in the valley and up there on the list for all of Los Angeles. This restaurant is 30 years old. Think about that, given the quantity of restaurants they compete with, they must be doing something right. I have eaten here a zillion times, always the same attention to detail. Staff is obviously well trained, food always great, one of those places you know exactly what you expect and no surprises (the bad kind). Keep up the good work!
Friend in town
You’ve driven past it 100 times. Park and go inside! It was one of the best dinners I’ve had in ages. The space is like an old-school NY bistro. Beautiful! The staff is attentive but not pesky. Tuna tartare and NY steak were fabulous. Lovely wines. We were celebrating a birthday and you might want to do the same. A total winner.
First time that we had lunch and so glad we did. We both had a Caesar salad along with the chicken piccata entree. Absolutely melted in our mouths! The Rombauer Chardonnay went well with our meal. Thanks for a romantic afternoon with my wife!
Delicious food and a wonderful dining experience with friends on a Saturday night.
The SF Valley classic. Still relevant and worth the visit.
Best restaurant in Sherman Oaks!
I love Mistral. It is one of a handful of exceptional restaurants in the San Fernando Valley that I frequent. The food is always delicious & the service top-notch. We went there for Dine LA. They had an amazing selection. I had the branzino which was flaky and moist and was prepared with charred skin which I love. The crème brulee dessert was out of this world too. The service as always was very attentive and friendly. The owner, Henri, came by to see how we were enjoying the meal, which was a nice personal touch. I will come back again & again.
I found this jam to be just that, a treasure hidden by an otherwise simple exterior. The inside presented a French chic approach with white table cloths, wood chairs, a shiny bar, and staff that went the extra mile to make our simple meal a great one. My mother and i enjoyed the Dine LA lunch menu of pumpkin ravioli, or tail, and warm pear and ice cream. In addition, they made my favorite Aperol spritz that isn’t available everywhere. This was a fantastic experience and i can’t wait to go back again!
As always, the food and service is impeccable! I come every year for my birthday and Mistral always delivers. We had a group of 8 and the waitstaff was so attentive. I usually get veal (whatever the special is) and it’s always delicious and cooked to perfection. Our large group pretty much sampled the entire menu- steak, chicken, salmon, pasta, and John Dory, all delicious. The only disappointing dish was the ahi (I told my husband not to get ahi at a French restaurant!) And the chocolate soufflé.....omg. So good! The only drawbacks are: this is a very noisy restaurant so it’s hard to have a quiet conversation, and it’s a bit pricey, but well worth it. One of my all-time favorite restaurants.
Food was decent, lots of butter on everything. Service was lacking
They forgot it was my birthday after asking whose it was when we walked in, the soufflé was fully cooked through and tasted like a bad egg white muffin, and the drinks were super watered down. The food lacked flavor and needed the sauce, which was tasty but very overpriced for the quality.
Superb experience once again and looking forward to the next culinary adventure at Mistral.
I just love this restaurant and try to go as often as I can. Food, drinks & service was wonderful as always.
Had dinner for dinaLA at highly rated Mistral. After "swimming" to the restaurant in a pouring rain, we're greeted and seated by the host at a table so close to others that I couldn't help but to only hear their conversation. When it asked if we can be seated at a table in a corner instead I was abruptly told that other people are on the way. I didn't know you can reserve a specific seating like at concert venues, but I'll definitely look into that.
After ordering drinks and food in a very loud atmosphere, I was looking forward to the meal. Ribeye, salmon, beet salad, onion soup were all...fine; not bad but not great. Items off dineLA menu were better. The biggest disappointment was the chocolate souffle. Somehow they managed to exclude the middle gooey goodness and not an ounce of molten chocolate was to be seen. As I resulted to enjoy a side cup of whipped cream instead of this pathetic attempt of a souffle, I couldn't help but think how I missed frozen souffles Trader Joe's carried for $4.50 and how it would put Mistral's to shame.
Needless to say I was disappointed with the whole experience. With an average price tag of $100 per person you have certain expectations. I expect the waiters to explain the menu, provide suggestions, offer pairings and recommendations. I expect food to be on par with the price and walk away feeling the experience had been worth it. For me it hasn't... Not even close. I will not be returning to Mistral. I'm sure they won't miss me but I'm certain I won't miss them
The dine around L A lunch for $35.00 was a complete waste of time and money. A glass of chianti was $19.00. The service was rushed. The table we asked for was "reserved" but it stayed empty for the entir meal. We are able to pay for a good meal but we dislike feeling ripped off.
Sherman Oaks Calif
Our dinner was from
The prix fixe fine LA menu. Everything we ordered was excellent.
The restaurant needs to be renovated. It was old and stodgy. The food was good but not great.
Wagyu beef ribeye mignon was tough. Chocolate souffle was not chocolate but was outstanding. Veal sweetbreads and shrimp scampi was delicious. I should have swapped out the tough ribeye for one of the other entrees.
A mainstay since 1988. Fantastic wait staff. Long list of chef specials each day that never disappoint.
This is a small, French restaurant that has been here for a very long time. The food is wonderful, the service, excellent. This is the kind of restaurant you want to put on your favorite list. On this particular evening, the four of us got there at 6:45 and didn't leave until 10:00. The place was full when we got there and full when we left.
Always love our evenings at Mistral! Henri and Raul take care of all of their customers! Food is delicious, service is excellent!
This is the best restaurant in The Valley. From the service to the food it cannot be topped.
Excited to have found such a fantastic true French restaurant. The escargot were served, as should be, in the shell and very tasty. Lamb chops were tender and full of flavor. Staff was incredibly friendly.
Wish we could take it back to FL
One of my favorite spots in the Valley. Small bistro vibe with excellent food offerings. Service is excellent.
Intimate French restaurant with atmosphere, service and pleasing menu. Busy and boisterous even on a Tuesday night. Nice experience. My dessert tasted pre-prepared, perhaps another choice like chocolate soufflé would have been better.
This is one of the best restaurants in Los Angeles !
Good today. Our previous visit (made without a reservation) was not good. Two of us had fish and it was not good at all. Today they were back to the top form we expect!
Mistral always delivers! I have been many many times and the food is always amazing, the service is exemplary and every guest is made to feel special. I cannot give enough praise for this lovely neighborhood gem and feel so lucky that it is in my neighborhood!
