Mistral is/has been one of our Boston go to restaurants. The foregoing rating for last Monday is very much an exception but an important one.
We were there some ten days prior on a Saturday evening and had our usual very positive experience with food, service and positive server approach.
Not so on Monday. Service was slow and indifferent ;
the food ok at best as it seems to have waited awhile in the kitchen before it arrived.
Monday was a slow night;so was our experience unfortunately.
The service, food and ambiance was fabulous!
Great meal as always. Missed Edwin tonight though
Our waiter was overloaded with tables. Everyone was charming & helpful - when you could find them.
Generally very consistent, excellent food and service.
My wife and I were celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary and the service and food was over the top! Dessert was heavenly! They also had a great selection of wines! We highly recommend this restaurant for all occasions!
Great se vice and food - helpful wine pairing
Dinner for 35th wedding anniversary. A very nice, interesting menu with wide range of choices. They had just run out of Dover Sole Meuniere so I ordered halibut. A good cut with well prepared risotto underneath, though halibut is a dense and not too interesting fish. Wife’s fois gras with duck rillette was superb. Diverse crowd including after work business dinners, local hotel conventioneers, tourists like us, offered no particular sense that this was a place for a special occasion. Ambience attractive but slightly cavernous up front where we were seated (might be more intimate in the back) and we felt mild urgings of techno music from adjacent bar. Service was excellent, nicely balanced combo of forwardness and reserve, with attentive, unobtrusive team service. Having learned that it was a special occasion for us, once we declined dessert as is our wont, they brought us a tasty, refreshing sorbet concoction.
There are better places with better service.
It was a fantastic experience! It was a celebration of my wife’s birthday and the evening was perfect
I highly recommend this restaurant. Great ambiance and excellent food and service. The chef and staff went above and beyond to make our celebration memorable. Thank you!
The food was perfectly good, but not amazing for the price. The green salad could have been fresher
Salmon dish was tasty and well presented
Very friendly waitstaff. Relaxed atmosphere. The lobster ravioli as an appetizer was excellent. For my main entree, I had the halibut with jumbo lump crab and apparatus risotto. The risotto was probably the best risotto I have ever eaten.
Excellent staff, professional, friendly. Meal was delicious.
The food does not disappoint with lots of varied and healthy options (like more than one seafood !). Always delicious. Pea soup and pizza were also wonderful.
First time there and it was great!
Food was perfect, I had the duck it was cooked perfectly and the chef added morels in my risotto at my request. My wife’s steak was well cooked and seasoned and the chilled pea soup is a must have. Wine list was well represented and our waiter was spot on. Perfect anniversary night.
Best in Boston
Mistral is my favorite Boston restaurant. Perfection every time!!
Mistrals continues to be one of our favorite restaurants in Boston. Great food, impeccable service and terrific atmosphere.
This was the best French meal I have had outside of France. The fois gras in particular was outstanding.
Excellent dinner, dessert disappointing
Everything was beautiful.
Best brunch In boston!!! Also dinner, but expensive
extremely expensive uninspired food
very disappointing wine menu - expensive and poor quality
poor ambiance - high average age of customer
Favorite restaurant in town. The food never disappoints!
Spectacular food, attentive and engaged staff, intimate but also vibrant atmosphere
We've dined at Mistral many times over the years, and never been disappointed. To keep up this level of quality for so long is truly unusual. Nice job!
Top of the line from every aspect. Our food was perfect! Our server was amazing. Everything was done very very well. We couldn't have been happier!
Got sick from the food!
Mistrals was a delightful experience from start to finish for our Mother's Day/graduation celebration. The pea soup appetizer was delicious with plenty of fresh pea flavor. The duck was delicious but the portion was overwhelming. I did enjoy the leftovers for lunch the next day. Others had the halibut and the salmon which were both excellent. Our waiter was attentive without being pushy.
Great food, great service, even the other guests were exceptionally pleasant.
I went to Mistral - Boston with my wife on Mother's Day 2018
Mistral has always been an old stand-by for special occasions, like dinner this past mother's day. It's always comfortable with great food.
Good. Dessert was not great tonight.
Loved the food!
Definitely has a fine dining feel, well trained and attentive staff, all the typical fine dining traits...food is expensive and predictable, and executed well enough, but not spectacular. There are so many restaurants in Boston doing more interesting things or even just doing this better. We probably won't do Mistral again.
Great food and good ambience, but some of the tables are squeezed too tightly together.
Food was good service was not up to par.
Server was extremely knowledgeable about the wines and the food. Catered to my gluten free and dairy free restrictions. Food was delicious and loved the ambiance!
My wife and I don't go out for a high end meal often - it's hard to justify spending $45 on a steak when I'm a pretty good cook in my own house - but Mistral is worth going to. You get a good quantity of food for your money and it's not pretentious like other high end places in town. It's not a la carte side dishes either. I like the value here, the service is very good, they had a table ready for us immediately and let us choose which one we wanted. The food was amazing. My wife had leftovers even for lunch the next day. Just a very nice experience. Thanks!
