Outstanding restaurant. Quiet and very classy and elegant. Great wine list. The duck was amazing. The service was excellent.
I ate here for dinner with some girl friends and we had an interesting experience. The halibut was a little dry but we also had the pizza and risotto which were both quite good. At the beginning of the meal, I ordered a glass of wine from the wine list - I specifically pointed to the first one on the red list, the Malbec, which was listed at 12 dollars a glass. My friends that arrived before me had suggested it and had ordered the same thing. Our server came by and suggested that we order a bottle since we were all drinking the same thing because it would save us money. The interesting part of the meal was when we got the bill - she had failed to clarify which Malbec we ordered and had given us a bottle of their most expensive Malbec instead of the one I pointed to. Our server was very nice and went to her manager. The manager Dana on the other hand was extremely rude to us - she didn’t apologize, instead she said that because they had technically presented the bottle to us (in the middle of the meal when we were already drinking wine and eating) it was actually our fault for not noticing that they had given us a more expensive bottle and she said “I feel good about charging you for the bottle but ill discount the individual glasses you ordered”. She then developed a lot of attitude and snapped at us when we tried to tell her that this wasn’t exactly fair - basically speaking to us as if we were a table full of little girls and berated us before storming off. We honestly weren’t even that upset over the difference in cost on the bill but we’re really taken aback by the way we were treated and the way she spoke to us, never in my life as a guest at a restaurant (and as an employee working as a server at other places) have I ever seen somebody completely lose it with a table of guests the way she did, it was completely unprofessional. I don’t think any of us will be dining here again, and if you do, check the bill at the end of the meal!
Robert was very knowledgeable catered to all our requests.
Great experience as always.
The wine was excellent. Service on point - helpful and kind.
Food was great - had the Dover sole, duck and halibut. Amazing entrees.
Bad except excellent service
The Tuna was great as an appetizer but the halibut was not as good as I have had before at this restaurant which is my favorite in Boston
Robert was our server and he was fantastic. Food and service were great. And the space is beautiful. Highly recommend.
Mistral was amazing! An unforgettable anniversary dinner. Some particular items seemed a bit over-priced (all things considered) but on the other hand it's understandable that such a distinguished dining experience comes at a premium. French and French-inspired offerings executed perfectly. Highly recommended for special occasions.
Beautiful space. Very formal, delicious food.
The lobster gnocchi was an excellent appetizer. My husband and I each had the halibut entree. It could have been more flavorful. We enjoyed the grapefruit cocktail and wine and the 4 small desserts. The bread was good also. I was surprised that there were not French items on the menu but maybe that's true at all French restaurants these days.
There was plenty of space in the restaurant and the stuck us between two other parties in a small table. I have loved this restaurant for 10 years, and I’m not sure I will be back.
We had an incredible anniversary brunch. Service was helpful and attentive, food was amazing, and it truly felt like the best way to celebrate for us! Presentation was stunning, too.
It is wonderful to dine in fine restaurant with great food, delivered by people who know the menu thoroughly, who can discuss the wines and help select great matches for each dish, and who provide professional, perfectly timed service. And even though the dining room was full and buzzing we could carry on a conversation without shouting. How rare is that?
You do pay a premium for all of this, but I would suggest simply opting to not go to a lesser restaurant twice then take that money and go enjoy Mistral once without worrying about the cost.
Remains best restaurant in Boston
Excellent, personalized service!
The food and service were delish! The mushroom special pasta was outstanding!
Great food and great service.
This is a big place, was quite busy. The service was excellent, food was good but somehow did not feel it was a 5-star experience. I would go back but as a 2nd choice.
We were in town from Toronto and chose Mistral to celebrate our 5-year wedding anniversary. The vibe was a relaxed upscale (not stuffy) and everyone was super warm and welcoming. Our food choices (duck and stripping) were delicious after splitting a Cesar salad and the sirloin carpaccio. We also enjoyed a very special dessert and a fantastic bottle of wine. Thank you so much!
The best French fine dining in the town!!
I had been to Mistral in March and on my next trip from Houston to Boston wanted Dover Sole again. I was not disappointed in how great it was prepared. My friend had Halibut with shrimp napa and she loved it. The sorbet was the perfect ending to our meal.
Our server Louis was a gem. He was very attentive but not intrusive.
Highly recommend Hostess, Staff, above and beyond*
It was my special lady’s birthday and the service was incredible. They sat us in a corner where we could see the entire restaurant. The Duck and Halibut were prepared perfectly and the dessert plate with happy birthday was a great touch
The whole experience was outstanding but the service was top notch.
Food, service and atmosphere of the restaurant is outstanding, but expensive. Definitely appropriate for business meals or special occasions. Extensive and expensive wine list - would be helpful to have more wine options under $100.
Mistral was a great experience. We enjoyed the food and the service. I will recommend
Food was spectacular. Server could have been more attentive.
This meal celebrating our 45th anniversary could not have been any better.
I had an Heirloom tomato salad followed by Faroe Island Salmon. My wife had classic greens salad; then Halibut. The ultimate finish was an incredible chocolate Fondant. The service was impeccable.
There are simply no words to describe the excellence of this experience!
Perfect for celebrating our Anniversary in an elegant setting. Used our Open Table reward points. Brian, our server, was attentive and personable.
Definitely one of the best brunch places in Boston!
Wonderful experience as always. Loved our table and the ambiance.
Excellent food and service. Always can depend on both whenever we go there. Our favorite for special occasions.
Mistral is one of the mainstays of upscale Boston dining. We enjoyed a delicious dinner on a Saturday night. The staff is professional and able to handle Saturday night crowd in this warm, inviting and comfortable space. The Cornish Hen dish got a “wow, this is good” from a usually quiet dining companion. I always look forward to their Foie gras. The chilled corn and lobster chowder was a perfect late summer dish. Not for those watching waistline or wallet but a great experience.
HORRIBLE SERVICE AND MANAGEMENT. Will never visit again. Silverware was being thrown, not placed on the table, creating a loud clanging noise every time. I contacted management but he was equally horrible and rude and questioning my experience, no wonder why the staff are awful. The fish stinks from the head.
We had a marvelous anniversary meal last night. The food was simply delicious on all levels and there was an ample
Amount to enjoy. We started with the César salad and the crab ravioli. Both were outstanding. I had the beef tenderloin and it was cooked to perfection and so tender. My husband had the duck and it was prepared perfectly. Crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. Our waiter was great and even though we were on a two top near other people we were able to talk and enjoy our meal. One of our favorite restaurants in Boston for special occasions.
In every possible way this is the best restaurant in Boston .
Beautiful room ,great food, superb wait staff! What else can we ask for?
Special thanks to our server Jedson who made our evening memorable.
It sets the bar for what a restaurant experience should be.
