Did a great job with our birthday party of 10. Service and food were really good! They do have a plating fee for the cake we brought and they cut it in an odd way. Other than that amazing experience.
food and service was above and bond normal great food
The chow here is great any time... but it's particularly excellent for Brunch. I love the room in daylight, the excellent coffee cake muffin they bring, the insanely good apple butter (more like an apple puree)... the great menu items... all excellent.
We enjoyed the Banana Pancakes served with warm syrup... and the Eggs Benedict (sauce on the side)... both fantastic. The breakfast potatoes are also amazing... served in a separate skillet... super hot, perfect. Nice sorbet for dessert.
Excellent service. Love it here.
P.S. - If you come for dinner, order the Rack of Lamb
Absolutely spectacular. Best duck I’ve ever had and everything from the soups to the desserts were unique and amazing
Fantastic food and service. I would highly recommend the escargot, beef carpaccio, and steak au poivre. Atmosphere is great as well.
La comida muy muy normalita.
Ate at the bar- great bartender!
Went to Mistral last Saturday to celebrate my wife's 65th Birthday with some old friends. We were seated promptly at our reservation time but things went downhill from there. Our waitress seemed miffed when we asked for another wine/drinks list. She then disappeared for 20 minutes despite our efforts to flag her attention. She could barely mask her distaste for us when we placed our order. Food arrived but the deserts I had pre-ordered to mark the birthday were no where to be seen. The check was summarily dropped on the table. Called the next day to register my displeasure as a long standing customer. Promised call back from the manager was never received. Done with Mistral.
From the get go our servers, Alexis and Betsy, got us off to a great start with wine, bread and yummy butter/hummus. It just continued to get better with our cheese plate appetizer and wonderful entrees of Dover sole, Cornish hen, and filet. Just a wonderful dinner and a lovely evening. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. Our only issue was that it was pretty loud and with a party of six it was a bit hard to converse. Other than that, it was a close to perfect evening.
Great restaurant with very professional staff. Had the mashed potato and steak pizza - was fantastic! Who knew that would work!!!
Dining at Mistral is always a very pleasant experience! Toujours "formidable"!!
The best place for an anniversary
What a great restaurant. I never tire of it. The food is excellent and the service amazing and staff is so courteous and friendly.
Ambiance and food were 5 stars as usual. You can never go wrong with Mistral. Whether it's a night out with girlfriends or a romantic celebration, for over 20 years this restaurant has kept up its menu, service and atmosphere like no other restaurant in Boston. Loved every minute!
Overall the food is high quality and well executed. In comparison to other restaurants at this price point, I was surprised that they neither had a sommelier or, in this particular evening, knowledgable staff who could provide wine recommendations. Generally the speed of service was pretty poor, which hasn't always been the case here.
Fantastic food and service.
My server Louis and Dana who showed me my seat made my experience memorable.
Dining at Mistral is always a treat and this time for a delayed Birthday celebration, it did not disappoint. Started with the Tuna Tartare - fresh and tasty and Caprese Salad - as expected. Chose the Seared Foie Gras (best in the city) with the pasta special (broad noodles with mushrooms and truffle oil) for entree. Both well executed and delicious. The beef tenderloin was cooked to perfection. Our server, Louis, was attentive without being obtrusive. The pinot noir he recommended complemented the food very well. As the room filled up the noise level rose but still able to hear. All in all a truly enjoyable evening.
This lovely spot keeps getting better. Clearly one of the best spots in the city. The atmosphere is wonderful, food always right and the best staff anywhere. Great value, all considered.
TLDR: Sub-par service and overpriced food aimed at corporate spending cards. Service was subpar for this price point. We waited at least 15 min after seating to order food on a week night. The table next to us had the same issue. The food was fine, but the value was worth half the cost ($30, not $60). Dessert was simple and surprisingly unartistically presented for the cost. I'm not sure why someone would go here with such better options in the city at more reasonable prices.
Outstanding restaurant. Quiet and very classy and elegant. Great wine list. The duck was amazing. The service was excellent.
Our food and service were great as usual. A server dropped hot escargot all over himself, floor and my sons shoe. Manager immediately came out and they will pay to have the shoes cleaned. I won’t let this stop us from going back. I’ve been many times before and accidents happen.
A Birthday brunch for my wife
It was fantastic!
I ate here for dinner with some girl friends and we had an interesting experience. The halibut was a little dry but we also had the pizza and risotto which were both quite good. At the beginning of the meal, I ordered a glass of wine from the wine list - I specifically pointed to the first one on the red list, the Malbec, which was listed at 12 dollars a glass. My friends that arrived before me had suggested it and had ordered the same thing. Our server came by and suggested that we order a bottle since we were all drinking the same thing because it would save us money. The interesting part of the meal was when we got the bill - she had failed to clarify which Malbec we ordered and had given us a bottle of their most expensive Malbec instead of the one I pointed to. Our server was very nice and went to her manager. The manager Dana on the other hand was extremely rude to us - she didn’t apologize, instead she said that because they had technically presented the bottle to us (in the middle of the meal when we were already drinking wine and eating) it was actually our fault for not noticing that they had given us a more expensive bottle and she said “I feel good about charging you for the bottle but ill discount the individual glasses you ordered”. She then developed a lot of attitude and snapped at us when we tried to tell her that this wasn’t exactly fair - basically speaking to us as if we were a table full of little girls and berated us before storming off. We honestly weren’t even that upset over the difference in cost on the bill but we’re really taken aback by the way we were treated and the way she spoke to us, never in my life as a guest at a restaurant (and as an employee working as a server at other places) have I ever seen somebody completely lose it with a table of guests the way she did, it was completely unprofessional. I don’t think any of us will be dining here again, and if you do, check the bill at the end of the meal!
Robert was very knowledgeable catered to all our requests.
Great experience as always.
The wine was excellent. Service on point - helpful and kind.
Food was great - had the Dover sole, duck and halibut. Amazing entrees.
Truly fantastic! Cannot wait to go back on my next trip to Boston!
Bad except excellent service
The Tuna was great as an appetizer but the halibut was not as good as I have had before at this restaurant which is my favorite in Boston
Robert was our server and he was fantastic. Food and service were great. And the space is beautiful. Highly recommend.
Mistral was amazing! An unforgettable anniversary dinner. Some particular items seemed a bit over-priced (all things considered) but on the other hand it's understandable that such a distinguished dining experience comes at a premium. French and French-inspired offerings executed perfectly. Highly recommended for special occasions.
Beautiful space. Very formal, delicious food.
The lobster gnocchi was an excellent appetizer. My husband and I each had the halibut entree. It could have been more flavorful. We enjoyed the grapefruit cocktail and wine and the 4 small desserts. The bread was good also. I was surprised that there were not French items on the menu but maybe that's true at all French restaurants these days.
There was plenty of space in the restaurant and the stuck us between two other parties in a small table. I have loved this restaurant for 10 years, and I’m not sure I will be back.
