Welcome to Mission Navy Yard, a lively bar and restaurant located adjacent to Nationals Park and Audi Field. Known for our vibrant bar scene, daily happy hour, spacious private event and outdoor spaces and delicious Tex-Mex food, we opened in July 2018. Our sister restaurant, Mission Dupont Circle, has been serving strong margaritas and tasty tacos since 2014.

We refuse to believe that a restaurant only has one purpose: we aim to provide a bustling bar scene, comfortable dining and versatile private event spaces that can accommodate groups of all sizes. The food was decent, but a little dry for the burritos. They brought out the wrong food initially, but corrected it. The service wasn’t great. Our food came fast, but in the wrong order, we waited for water refills until the end of our meal and waited for the check for a while after finishing our meals.

Mission Navy Yard is always a wonderful experience, but tonight was exceptional. We had a large group of friends in town (15), some of which this was their first time in the United States and spoke very little English. Our server Dan was patient, understanding and demonstrated excellent knowledge of the menu! The atmosphere was perfect for our formal but fun dinner - 10/10 would recommend!!

This was my first time here and it was really great. Our server Julia was the best, even the host (I forgot his name). The food was cooked perfectly the wing were my favorite and of course the bottomless margaritas. I will definitely be going back.

Incredibly, overpoweringly noisy restaurant that lost our reservation, then found us a table but "you only have 45 minutes, we need that room for a special event later. " the food was glorified Taco Bell and the service was indifferent at best. There is much, much better Mexican food available for less hassle. Will not return.

We went for taco Tuesday. This app said there were no indoor tables available, but when we arrived they had plenty of opens tables inside & we were able to sit at a booth inside. Tacos & margaritas were delicious.

Security at the front door is rude and dismissive. Staff at the hostess stand are the opposite of welcoming and hospitable. Wait staff are inattentive and distracted. It’s very clear that Mission only caters to a certain clientele and dreads having to entertain patrons that don’t fit the mold, based on the staff’s attitude towards certain guests versus others. This is ironic though given the SOUTHEAST DC location of this restaurant. Horrible experience and will not return. Don’t waste time or money here; better off searching the nearest Taco Bell :)

the restaurant is dark, it'd be nice if the lights were a bit brighter at night. Also, the tacos were very good, but the chicken tinga didn't have much flavor in the chicken itself. but other than that, very good.

Waited a long time to get a drink, then drink came out wrong! Server offered to change, but we had already received appetizers , so I said never mind. Two meals came out cold, and had to be recooked. That took long time and had to inquire about. You would think we would get priority since meals were cold. Server said this, and that, are spicy. Almost everything was too spicy, including nachos and rice? Not a good experience.

The clearly labeled food allergens on the menu was super helpful. All of the staff seemed to be clued in and handled my GF requests seriously and with care so that I could dine safely. We arrived in time to order from the Happy Hour Menu and got the Steak Nachos Volcan and Chicken Tinga Tacos, both flavorful, fresh, and nicely presented. The Nachos are more than enough for two people to share. We went prior to a special event at Nationals Park and made much needed reservations two days in advance. The place was crowded at 3:45 pm as were many other restaurants nearby. We were seated outside. We were offered indoor seating, but was too loud and raucous inside. The street traffic along South Capital wasn't much better. Sirens, crotch rockets, and badly muffled cars made it difficult to have conversation. The noise volume detracted from our experience. The Tito's Blackberry Lemonade was good but a bit too sweet for my taste I watered it down to make it a bit more palatable. It lasted longer that way. 😉 I would go back during a less busy/noisy time for the food, drink, and service. Be sure to enjoy the nearby River Walk after your meal.
