Please note that patio tables are sat on a first come basis and are not available for advanced reservations.
Margaritas were too sour. Food took forever and was not hot upon arrival. Beer was not very cold. Burrito and enchiladas very average to below average. Noisiest place I’ve ever been to in DC. The elotes sticks are good. Waiter was nice but overwhelmed. Needs new management - great potential but nothing clicks.
The service was terrible. Our server never returned to ask if we would like a second round of drinks or chips and salsa as we waiting on our entrees. And, the staff began bussing the table removing water and water glasses without asking and while we were waiting on our check. Clearly, they were looking for a quick turn around. Many other options in area with the same quality food with much better service.
Good food but slow service and waaaaay too loud in there
It was too loud. Our waitress was hardly there and we had to remind her to bring our tequila shots. The mission margarita was basically watered down margarita mix. It was way too loud to have any type of conversation.
However, the tacos were well made with high quality ingredients.
I love Mission. Their brunch is amazing and I always take my friends there. Our server this time was not great. We sat down and got water in about 10 mins. We put our drink order in and it took a good 10-15 mins for those, which as annoying because she wanted our 2 hour limit to end from the time we sat down, yet we waited 20+ mins for anything bottomless. Otherwise, great food and drinks as usual!
The food, taco, was delicious. Very glad we were seated outside as inside the noise level was deafening.
I planned a brunch for a friends birthday celebration and it was nothing short of amazing. Gabriella was our server and she was nothing short of perfect. Everything went off without an issue and my glass was never empty. I enjoyed my brunch tacos (steak and eggs) and the guacamole was phenomenal. The ambiance was delightful with both urban music and a eclectic mix of patrons. Loved it! Will come back! Thank you Gabriella!
Food was excellent! Chips and salsa were fresh and tasty!
Great food! I would consider it “modern Mexican” food. They are adaptable with the menu options. The Dr. Peoper was “oddly and almost seemed like an imitation we didn’t feel the need to bring this to the staff’s attention though. The service was intermittent but friendly. Would definitely go back. Cool vibe.
The food was AMAZING! Like, REEEEEALLY GOOD!!! After work for happy hour/early dinner it’s incredibly loud inside. I don’t know that I’ve ever been to a noisier restaurant. As we waited for our table, I almost chose to leave it was so loud. Glad I stayed, the food was worth it. Maybe not the best place for “date night”, but if want to take a group of loud and rowdy friends for good food - this is the place!
Decent happy hour specials (try the mission margarita pitcher), VERY loud even away from the bar in the restaurant
I did appreciate how quickly we were seated with our reservation.
Great food, a bit noisy and crowded but fun had by all!
Will go again.
Nice place. Table server was excellent as well as the bar team but the team who met us at the door seemed not skilled at handling busy nights. We did not have a reservation. The team took our name and number and told us it would be 45 min. After 30, I signed up for first table available on Open Table--additional 45 min. The team never called us for our first reservation. After 1+15 we were seated. Thank you open table. Bottomline, even during the week, have a reservation. Food was ok. Environment was loud and energetic. Probably wouldn't pull us back again but good for a night out if you want to hang out at the bar!
Typically I’ve always enjoyed my experiences at Mission but this most recent one was ruined by a very rude server who barely paid attention to us and repeatedly tried to rush us out despite the fact that we had reservations.
Went here for their Sunday Brunch and it was fantastic! The food is delicious and for the price, you get a generous amount of things for bottomless. Highly recommend for a date or outing with friends.
We ate inside around 5:30 on a Saturday night. Got together with friends to catch up, however, we could not hear one another talk, the noise level was horrible, no fun at all. Food was mediocre, taco portions were decent, but flavor was unmemorable. Salsa tasted like a canned tomatoes. We did have an excellent server, wish we got her name. Would not recommend or return to this restaurant.
I had been before and remembered the food to be much better. We did not like the dishes we ate at all and will not go back
Waited 30 minutes to be seated. What’s the point of a reservation? Barely an apology or an offer of compensation. Service after seating was ok.
I absolutely love Mission DuPont. Great food, drinks and location. Highly recommend it.
Awesome spot for a sunny Saturday or Sunday morning.
The food is wonderful. Prices are reasonable Service is great. It’s just the noise level. Way too loud
Was really looking forward to a fun evening with an out of town friend to celebrate my birthday. What we got was nothing but disappointment. After being completely ignored for 15 minutes, I had to go to the hostess stand to ask for water. Apparently, there was a disagreement regarding who had to serve our table. One of the outdoor servers was sent in to help us (and the table next to us). He was very sweet but obviously it was difficult to keep up with tables outside and 2 inside, while the other server for our room refused to even make eye contact. We ordered drinks, an appetizer and dinner. We finished off the guacamole and water well before our drinks (finally!!) arrived from the bar and our food arrived almost immediately after. The food was ok. I had carne asada and it was cooked medium well instead of medium. The Brussels sprouts were very good, but the bed of potatoes were dry and barely warm. So sad...
TL/DR:, It was loud, warm and no one really wanted to take care of the tables in our dining area. The drinks took forever and the mediocre food even longer.
Excellent service and food. Really liked the wings.
Really like this place and I’ve gone back several times but don’t think I can do it anymore because the restaurant is INCREDIBLY noisy. Like deafeningly loud. Every time I go there. They really need to figure out a way to dampen the volume and this place would be awesome. But I seriously think it’s like hearing damage level loud right now so unfortunately I won’t be going back.
Delicious food and lively atmosphere! We’ve gone back every time we’re in town. Recommend the guacamole and skinny margs!
While at first glance this looked like a fun spot for Mexican food near Dupont Circle, we were treated terribly. Even though we made a reservation, we were stuck off in some upstairs room where we ended up being the only people there (while the rest of the place, including the outdoor patio, was full). Our servers were attentive enough, but the vibe of the space we ate in felt like a location for frat parties or something. The food was pretty mediocre, and seemed almost like they were microwaved dinners. Mission looks charming enough from the outside, but it's not a place I'll be taking my business to when in DC again.
Travel to DC twice a year for work and we make it our mission to eat at Mission every Tuesday we’re in town!
Service was great, didn’t catch our waiter’s name, but he rocked! Food is consistently delicious!
Mission was a big disappointment.
The food was moderately good, except they managed to dumb down the spice level in the chorizo tacos so low there was hardly any flavor left. You really gotta try hard to make chorizo bland, but Mission found a way. Do Washingtonians fear spice and seasoning so much that restaurants have to pound the flavor out of every ethnic dish?
But enough about the chorizo.
The real killer here was the awful service. We couldn't find our server, he would forget things we asked for, the food and drinks took forever, and the staff let dirty plates pile up on our table. At a nearby table, the patrons reminded their server they did not want ice in their drinks. So instead of getting clean empty glasses, the server angrily picked up the glasses and hurled the ice over the heads of diners and onto the outside sidewalk. Now, that's really classy!
I don't think this place will be on the repeat list.
Food was bland and cold. Service was incredibly slow. Margarita pitchers that were almost 50 a pop had little tequila. Expensive meal, sub-par service, and very strange tasting Mexican food. Nobody at the table finished their meal.
Great food and sangria. We will be back for the brunch!
Great food and great restaurant.
Mission seemed like a very popular brunch spot, so the service was VERY slow. The server would come, ask if we needed anything, then disappear for 20 minutes. It was also VERY noisy in the restaurant. I guess people talk really loud when they're tipsy. It could've been that it was Saturday around 1. Food was good, the spicy guac wasn't at all spicy. I would definitely recommend the tacos, there were really good. The drinks were good. The price for the bottomless brunch wasn't that bad, depending on how much you drink. If you plan on ordering starters other than chips and guac and having maybe one or two drinks, it would be more worth it to pay for each item individually. If you plan on drinking more than 2 drinks, it would be better to get bottomless. The also do keep track of how long you're there if you do plan on doing bottomless. I definitely do recommend this place. I would most likely go again, just maybe not a Saturday afternoon.
The food and drinks were delicious! I wasn't expecting such bombastic tacos but the flavors and textures were explosive. The steak taco was my personal favorite--better quality steak than expected and cooked medium from what I saw before hoovering it up, a great experience.
Normally I adore this restaurant but this experience was terrible. I frequent Mission Dupont often for happy hours and dinner with friends. This experience had inattentive service: it took about 25 minutes for us to get small plates and silverware, about 30 to get our beverages, and the waiter kept trying to walk away before we finished ordering? The queso was burned, the fajitas were charred black, the chicken was dry and the beef was so salty and overseasoned I couldn't eat it. My I pulled over 30 jalapeno seeds out of my margarita. I've ordered it before and it's been amazing...this was too spicy to drink more than a few sips.
I genuinely think this was a fluke. I've always had STELLAR service. So hoping this was just a one-time mishap.
I LOVE a good Tex mex meal but everything here was grossly over salted, from the chips to the enchiladas and the salad. The food was delivered lukewarm at best (we were sitting upstairs) and the whole upstairs smelled like bleach. 100% not worth the price tag.
Far too noisy. Salsas nearly flavor-free. Cheap Mexican-ish eats for a happy hour or tourist crowd.
But we could hardly hear ourselves at our own table, so not a place we'll visit again or recommend.
The free chips were the best part of my meal besides the sangria. None of the food was bad it was just mediocre.
We went to Mission because we know it's always good--or was. Maybe it was just an off night. We sat outside which was awesome as inside can be a bit noisy. Our server was friendly and attentive. She said they made some menu and recipe changes. That's when it went downhill. The salsa used to have a kick with some good heat. Now it kind of tastes like eating diced tomatoes with pretty much no flavor--sorry guys but true. They also are using new tortillas which unfortunately taste like eating baked corn flakes--not bad just not tortillas. I had the Dupont Margarita for $13--because it has Grand Marnier and is usually sweeter than the Mission Margarita. But not tonight. Not only no Grand Marnier but basically pure lime juice to the point you grimace with each sip. I had already said something about the queso we ordered with chorizo not having chorizo (an oversight which they nicely refunded) so I didn't want to seem like a jerk and mention the drink. Ok so then we got our food--Enchiladas and "The Burrito"--both 2 favorites of ours. Or were. They took the truffle out of the enchilada although it was still quite tasty just different. Moreso they turned the burrito into a sliced wrap. What the? They don't even serve the burrito with sauce anymore. Help I dont understand why they would do this to two premier entrees? Final straw was the kitchen brought out the entrees and both were stone cold--I mean come on guys. Maybe it was just a bad night but frankly if this had been our first visit we wouldn't return.
Food was fine but drink deals were awesome! A little pricey but the location is great and the staff is very accommodating.
Incredibly noisy on a Friday night. The people at the table next to us were literally screaming. We gave up on having our own conversation after about 10 minutes. Cocktails okay, main dishes nothing special. Won’t be back . Don’t bother.
