   Reviews can be tricky setting up expectations that may not be matched for the next customer. I found the food to be outstanding, more importantly, the hospitality and passion for wines that are reasonably priced made a very strong impression on me.

   Impromptu trip to Carmel. The burrata was the best item we had, it was really good! The pork belly was a little dry compared to others we’ve had. Overall really nice place and we would go back for sure.

   The food was excellent. My crispy salmon was cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts were really good. The blue cheese wedge was super crisp and tasty. The bavette was expertly prepared. We will definitely return.

   Great food. The Crudo was fabulous. I’d go again. The service wasn’t the best. Our server kept forgetting about us. Kept our wine by table but never refilled our glasses. A little pricey but worth it.

    My mom and I thoroughly enjoyed our decadent meal at Mission Bistro. The Host was so very kind and attentive, and all of the servers were so helpful and pleasant. The Chef also came out of the kitchen to stop by each table to see how everyone's meals were being experienced. My mother enjoyed the Cioppino immensely, and I loved the NY Steak Special, (Nieman Ranch steak), which was cooked to perfection and served with a demiglace and blue cheese sauce, accompanied by sauteed garlic spinach and mashed potatoes. We went with the wines by the glass recommended by our server, which complimented each of our meals very nicely. The Sour Cherry Bread Pudding for Dessert was a yummy way to end the meal. It was served house made caramel sauce, vanilla gelato, and whipped cream. Looking forward to returning to the Mission Bistro next time we are in the area!

    The steamed mussels were fantastic and the steamed clams over linguini were great, my wife had the short rib raviolis and they were terrible absolutely no flavor, the filling had the consistency of baby food and not very pleasant to the pallet

    We took a risk and went to a new restaurant (for us) for Valentines Day. In the end, there was no risk. We were extremely pleased. A nice selection of menu options and on the wine list. We chose and shared carpaccio, clams and linguini, tomahawk pork chop finishing with a bread pudding. Although very different we enjoyed both entrees. Service was efficient and friendly. Ambience was warm and inviting. Definitely would recommend any time you want good food ina comfortable atmosphere

    A great Bistro with a menu fit for foodies and a really nice wine menu. If you have a large group (12 to 14) the wine room just off the entrance is perfect. private but part of main restaurant. The back wall features wine bottles, a lot of them local wineries. The service is friendly, knowledgable, ready to suggest and point out the favorites.

    What a great place! Staff was exceptional throughout the entire meal. Everyone was so personable, friendly, and helpful. The Chef even comes to the table to see if everything was to your liking. The food was so good and balanced. We had cesear salad, tuna crudo, the bison steak with blue cheese, and the cioppino! Husband had the bread pudding for dessert. We were so impressed and will definitely be back. Give this place a try!

    The food and service were wonderful! The owner of the restaurant, including the chef, came out to check on people to see how they were doing. They also have outdoor patio seating with heaters just in case you want to bring your dog! Great restaurant!

    Food and service were excellent! We had oysters, the pork chop, cioppino, and the sour cherry bread pudding and would order them all again. Our server was extremely friendly and our table was checked in on by both the owner and chef during the meal. We’ll definitely be back!

    A wonderful surprise to have found this restaurant. The starters, salad, entrees, and dessert were wonderful. I think I moaned in delight with every bite of my short rib ravioli. Chef Tim’s sauce was plate-lickable! The cioppino was delicious packed with fresh seafood. For dessert we shared the affogato with dragon fruit sorbet. Wow! Service was perfect and we will certainly be visiting this restaurant in the future. Over and over.

    Mission Bistro is the absolute best. Wonderful food and impeccable customer service. The owners, chef (who comes out and personally speaks with the guests), wait staff, etc. are all incredible. Their beef short rib ravioli, bistro salad, and swordfish are all delicious. They also have wonderful lattes and desserts. Even better... they LOVE dogs. Thank you again for a wonderful evening!

    Five of us had an excellent lunch at Mission Bistro on New Year's Day. We ordered blackened chicken sandwiches, tomato bisque and crab cakes. All were fantastic. The sandwiches were delicious and came with amazing french fries. The crab cakes and soup were also hits. The service was very attentive and the food came out hot and on time.

    Food-wise: We ordered a bavette steak and to our surprise, it was cut into pieces. The Cioppino was overcooked. Other people in our party had very good entrees, to it's a mixed bag, hence 3 stars. Ambiance-wise: this is the only dog-friendly restaurant I've seen. Dogs were eating bones behind me when we starter our dinner. Value-wise, dinner menu items are slightly overpriced based on the overall quality.

    Had high expectation from the reputation and from the area Mission Bistro is located in. Dinner started off just fine, great Carpaccio appetizer and wine. My main course was good (black cod with soba noodles) but my wife had the cioppino and everything was grossly over cooked in the stew. Clams were tough, shrimp and calamari were very rubbery. And unfortunately the service fell off after appetizers; we didn’t see our main waiter between appetizers and when we were done with dinner. A lot of gaps and disappearing. Wish it were better, hopefully it was just an off night but we won’t be back.

    Fabulous little bistro, super friendly, great wines at very good prices. Calamari and tuni ahi and tartar were outstanding. Chocolate cake beautiful, hit all the right spots. Australian and German foodie guests were impressed :)

    This could be considered one of the best, if not the best, restaurants in Carmel. What a find! It is located just off the main street, Ocean Ave, although easy to miss. We started with Oysters on the half shell, and the Pork Belly appetizer. The Oysters were nice, and the Pork Belly was delicious, crispy on the outside, moist and tender on the inside. We both had the Pork Rib Chop for the main course, which was generous in size and very good.

    My family was traveling on Christmas Day and were concerned about finding open restaurants. We booked ahead and were very pleased with this restaurant. It is small and cozy. It was a Prix Fixe menu. We chose the beef tenderloin and Kobe beef options. For starters we enjoyed the lobster bisque, wild mushroom tartlet, and mixed green salad with feta. Dessert was a mixed berry crumble with vanilla gelato. All were delicious. The wait staff worked well together and our glasses were never empty. Lovely restaurants.

    Both main dishes were excellent. Filet Mignon was cooked perfect and Sesame crusted Tuna was delicious. The beet salad and wild mushroom tartlets were very good as well. Service was attentive and polite. Mission's fixed menu and service was superior to nearby Anton & Michel.

    My complaint regards their misleading business practices. We came here for Christmas brunch. Their site said they offer holiday menus. Most restaurants with special holiday menus post it online well in advance, including the charge. I checked several times, even just a few days ago, but I never saw the special menu. I only saw a normal brunch menu with many items under $30. When I made the reservation they required a credit card, and warned me of a $30/person penalty if we cancelled less than a day in advance. When we arrived we were presented with a fixed-price menu: $75/person. This was much more than I planned to spend, but the meal was part of my husband's Christmas present, and it was too late to change. There was only one thing on the menu he could eat: squash ravioli, which was disappointing. However, the food and service were very good. Everything I had was delicious, and my husband even like his squash ravioli. When we got the bill, an 18% gratuity was included. This wasn't mentioned on the menu. The bill also included a space to leave (another) tip. Many people will just add on a tip without noticing they've already paid one. We were also charged a 3% "Non-cash adjustment" (credit card fee}. This should be mentioned on their website, so you can bring cash if you want to avoid the extra charge. It should also be mentioned on the menu. Not only did they sneak in this extra fee but it was taxed, which seems like it should be illegal. Even stranger, they applied the credit card fee before even I gave them my credit card. If you paid with cash they'd probably leave the extra 3% charge on there unless you noticed it and objected. The food is good, but only go if you're aware of their shady billing practices, and don't mind paying them..
