Miss Katies Crab Shack
Great food and an enjoyable night out. Be prepared to spend a bit tho.
Delicious, interesting food, well worth the visit! Had me licking my fingers all night!
Still working things out post lockdown.
Under staffed on the floor. The qr ordering seemed to make the floor staff secondary. A physical menu may have encouraged broader choices and better interaction with the floor staff.
After a long absence I was able to come back, to somewhere I had previously enjoyed discovering.
Everyone was lovely, the food was great.
All round a wonderful night out.
The food was amazing, a good size portion of serving. The staff were fantastic and we loved the venue. We were seated outside at the back which was nice and warm, with good music and vibes.
Lovely dinner, helpful recommendations would go again, would like to try more of the menu next time, generous portions.
Great atmosphere and the food was delicious.
Great place, the food was amazing, I will be back for sure
Overpriced and all of us became ill that afternoon
We were really disappointed with our experience. We had booked to be seated inside however once we arrived were told there were no tables available so had to sit outside by ourselves in the freezing wind. After 40 minutes we were finally able to move inside so we thought things were looking up...until we released we had waited an hour and a half for our main dish. We ended up getting a refund and leaving feeling very unsatisfied. The food was tasty but the service ruined the entire experience. Management need to invest time into training their staff. Definitely wouldn't recommend to anyone unfortunately.
My partner and I came here on impulse looking for a fun dinner out and it did not disappoint! The food was delicious, get the chilli clams and the old bay biscuits and dip the biscuits in the chilli clam sauce, you will not regret it.
IF you're under 40, it's not Winter & you're not sitting in the windiest part of the outdoor courtyard, I suppose it's OK. Just. But if you're over 45, it *is* Winter and the wind is blowing like a gale up your end (sic) with a heater on the other side of the courtyard, well...it's unpleasant. We thought we'd be dining inside. No such luck. Anyway...we ordered crab cake (crumbed, fried, salty), chowder (diced spuds fought the seafood for real estate in the bowl), spanner crab (we fought the crab for a tiny amount of meat), and KFC (truly!) with waffles & maple syrup, a tempura-like coating deep fried so the chook was slightly underdone (not badly, but pink). Standout was the Tour Travers rosé from a limited wine list and fries - crunchy, hot, soft inside. Now the bad news.
Decor was dreadful & on the cheap: shack it certainly was. 4 pages of the Herald-Sun paper was the tablecloth, the tables & chairs were beach-house wood slat furniture, with a wobbly table (which got fixed, thanks to staff), the plates were enamel dishes which were old & chipped & sadly not enough serviettes for crab combat, even with a bib (attractive!). The courtyard looked drab & 2nd-hand, not fun as it should have been.
Staff were friendly & attentive (tho we're not all *guys* all the time!!) so they earned their $ that night.
Summary: not cheap, not comfortable & not clever. For $85/head I thought we didn't get value or ambiance. It was more a café than restaurant & despite the name, the quality of venue & food should have been better. Nice concept, below par execution.
We had a great night out with friends for a special birthday. A great option if you love crab!
The staff was awesome, the food was awesome and the drinks were awesome.
We came here for my girlfriends birthday and we will definately be back
Would not revisit - extremely overpriced and bland food. Really poor hospitality service - everything ordered through app, no connection at all.
The food was absolutely delicious! Very happy with what we ordered, was a bit squishy inside though & felt like the people on the table next to us might as well have been sitting with us as they were so close.
Such a fun place and the crab was amazing- it would be a fun messy date!
The food was great, service not so much. Our waitress was very inexperienced and rude. We were the first customers in the store and she placed us on a wonky table less than an arms distance to the next guest. She spilled an entire jug of water all over my girlfriend and her phone and took it away without asking her permission to do so. I would have been understanding with the events but she gave us little to no apology.
Poor service , inexperienced staff ,meals all coming out at different times .
Three of us almost finished our meals whilst the other two people meals arrived almost once we had finished . Too salty and heavily fried. Not enough variety on the menu or wines .
The vibe was very half-hearted, last time I was there I really enjoyed it, but I wouldn't go back.
When we book a table online. We didn’t know we have to get a Easter set menu, I’m pretty sure it’s not us only, there’s a couple sat there didn’t even know as well. The food wasn’t that great small portions and very light seasoning.
Great service and great food, but if you have a big appetite the portion might not be big enough for you.
We loved Katie's crab shack, delicious food and a great atmosphere. I highly recommend to anyone who loves crabs and delicious food. The fried pickles are also very enjoyable to eat.
We’ve been wanting to go to Miss Katie’s for awhile and are so glad we did. Everything was fantastic! The food was delicious (the seafood chowder and cornbread were especially delicious)! The waitresses were also very friendly and approachable. We will definitely come back!
Absolutely wonderful all round. First time eating crab and we enjoyed it❤️
I have dined here several times and always come back..
For the Bloody Mary's...best in Melbourne...
The fantastic food is just a bonus...
I love Miss Katie's Crab Shack, that's why my friends and family keep giving me vouchers. But this last experience was just not good. We ordered our usual crab boil with garlic and old bay butter but it was so salty, we couldn't finish it. We usually use the delicious corn bread to soak up that juice, but not this time. The mussels were under-cooked, I couldn't finish them. The crab wasn't very nice either, which made us sad, because we love the mussels and crab so much. Even my lemonade was too sour to drink. My wife's Arnold Palmer was super tasty and our waitress was super helpful and friendly. Overall, this dining experience was not the best, this time.
Great fun and delicious food
The food is bloody phenomenal. Can't believe you can get such great crab inner city! I would highly recommend getting the crab boil with all the trimmings AND the corn bread or whatever bread is on the menu at the time - you'll need it to mop up the liquid gold in the bottom of the dish. Good service - could have been a little more present, but lovely all the same
Very, very delicious. Very, very messy. Very, very good overall.
Every time we visit it is an absolute treat. The best Bloody Mary’s in town and awesome food all round. The Chicken ribs are off the hook.
Oysters were delicious! I was a bit disappointed with the boiled crab especially for the price. They didn't have a lot of meat and my friend and I both left hungry.
Fantastic! Would definitely go again. Food was awesome, really unique experience. Ambiance was perfect 👌🏽
Awesome 🌟 New Year’s Eve & my darlings birthday 🥳
We enjoyed a terrific meal...crab boil with the lot.
Cocktails & beer.
The staff were friendly and helped to make the night enjoyable and memorable 🌟
I have wanted to go to Katie’s Crab Shack for years and I finally went with my partner on NYE! I couldn’t recommend the restaurant more. Customer service was really friendly and helpful and covid safe. We also had a crab boil each and sides and it was all divine. For the quality of the food the whole menu is very fairly priced and the drinks menu is detailed with a lot of options. I would recommend sharing a pitcher of the one of the 4 taps as we loved it. We can’t wait to go back! Thanks to the team!
4th time here (1st time since covid) and the quality, value and menu is problematic. Menu has significantly less items than advertised online and from previous occasions - we pointed this out but were met with only a smile in response (if it is necessary due to restrictions then just say so!). This meant it was on the crab boil to be the hero of the dinner, yet it had only half the meat needed to make it satisfying. We didn't need to use the bibs to eat it, that's how unimpressive it was. Pork sausage had that strange taste typical when it is has just reached its used by date - hasn't gone off terribly but it starts to impact the taste and the boil sauce contrasts so strongly it is noticeable. Our other menu items were good, but the crab boil let it all down. As a result, the overall cost of the meal didn't feel worth the value, especially compared to previous satisfying visits. Not likely to return.
Amazing food and service! Had the best Christmas lunch here. So delicious!!
Cannot believe that you could get a seafood lunch for Xmas for $99 per person. What a treat!
The girls at Miss Katie’s are so wonderful, the service was the best I’ve experienced in Australia in a very long time.
The food was delicious! Ham hock terrine, lobster tail with truffle fries and the panna cotta- everything was amazing!
Miss Katie and her crew are exceptional. Freshest oysters ever for my entree. Crawfish was delicious with crispy fries, herb salad and then the panacotta desert with fresh berries was faultless. Amazing range of drinks and cocktails - I enjoyed my authentic Shirley Temple immensely. The ambience is beautiful, the people treat you like family and it’s a happy chill vibe. Go there and experience it - you won’t regret it.
My family and I had the best time at Miss Katies. The good was delicious and the service was outstanding. Highly recommend, and we will definitely be going back.
