The food was incredible as always, but we were really disappointed that it took them OVER AN HOUR to seat us, despite having made a reservation. We were celebrating our second anniversary, and it was the first time we had gotten a baby sitter since our child was born eleven months ago. We’re used to waiting at the bar for 10-20 minutes, but never over an hour. We were starving by the time we actually made it to our table, and felt rushed to get home to the sitter. That really tainted what otherwise would have been a nice (and long overdue) date night out.

What a find! Fantastic food , each course was brilliantly plated and uniquely flavorful. Diverse menu to suit all palates. Incomparable wine list . Highly recommend if you're looking for a fine dining experience comparable to those found in NY or Chicago.

We were at a book signing event at the Oxford Exchange next door and this seemed just right for dinner after. From a very imaginative menu we ordered the pan seared chicken with cauliflower/peas and the bbq shrimp with the cashew bamboo rice- all well prepared -especially the spice rubbed shrimp- we did request the pepper grinder though! I enjoyed the cashew rice most of all- had the flavor of savory Indian "pulao". The ambiance was subdued elegance as we were seated window side-overlooking a not so busy boulevard on a quiet Friday evening- a fave seating choice and always enjoyable!

My wife and I always try and have dinner here for our yearly Tampa trip. We order the tasting menu with wine pairings. This is always creative and remarkable how the food compliments and changes the wine.

My friend and I met for lunch on my birthday. There were very people there so it was rather dull. We wanted to spend time catching up but the waiter just kept coming by every few minutes. He just could not get the message. We finally went ahead and ordered. Shortly after ordering, we decided it would be nice to have a drink before the food arrived. It took a while for the cocktails to arrive and so...the food came first. Bummer. The food was okay. I had an arugula salad with shrimp and my friend had a curried chicken salad sandwich. All very ordinary. Don't see any reason to return.

My husband and I had a wonderfully romantic dinner Saturday night. The scallop appetizer was delicious! I highly recommend them and plan to stop in soon for a glass of wine and more scallops on our way to an event downtown. We each enjoyed our entrees of lamb chops and duck breast with a half bottle of wine that enhanced the flavors even more. Delicious food, romantic ambiance and amazing service made for a special date night for us.

You can never go wrong on the food at Mise en Place. We enjoyed the charcuterie & cheese plate as an appetizer and the duck breast was perfectly cooked and well presented. We found a reasonable Burgundy wine to go with our meal and the time was so enjoyable for a pleasant time of conversation and wonderful food. As I have indicated in previous reviews, the decor and atmosphere is growing tired and in need of a face lift. Thankfully, the food has not dropped off like the older furniture and tables. think about a new look!

We had a great experience as usual. The menu is always unique and interesting. I can’t remember ever having even a mediocre meal here. It is by no means an inexpensive restaurant, but what you pay for the quality of the food, ambiance and service you receive is still a great value. The wine prices are a little on the high side. We like to bring our own sometimes and there is a $30 cork fee (a little on the high side, too). But if you order another bottle there, which we did, they waive the fee. I think it’s the most innovative fine dining restaurant in the Tampa Bay area. If you want a really good steakhouse experience, go to Bern’s or Charley’s. However, if you want a true non-traditional culinary experience, there is no place better around than Mise en Place.

Our waiter (Aaron—spelling?) was attentive and helpful. The soft shell crab was cooked perfectly and my husband was extremely pleased with his fried green tomato salad. Our main courses ((lamb for hubby and red snapper for me) were delicious to taste and aesthetically pleasing. Thanks to Aaron for suggesting a Honig wine...liked the earthiness. We are never disappointed at MEP!

Mise En Place has been our go-to spot for years, and this visit was no exception. Chef Marty Blitz continues to amaze us with his ever-changing tasting menu and Katie Povey continues to match exquisite wines to go with each course. We always look forward to visiting Mise En Place!

Excellent service! A good number of choices on the menu. Portions were small for apppetizers so we chose a few items and the entrees were large. Ceviche, oysters superb! Salmon entree and Lamb entree also superb! Highly recommend.

this restaurant is a go-to for a nice night out. the most recent night we were there however, there was not enough service staff to support our waitress so the service was a little sloppy. Usually, this is not the case. Food is excellent and ambiance is great

We had the pairing menu which allowed us to try different wines with our courses. Food was excellent especially the oysters and the risotto though I would probably pass on the quail next time - not a lot of meat there! Enjoyed the wine choices. Aaron, our server, was excellent - friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the wine selection. The only downside was the chap at the next table with the extremely loud voice who was completely oblivious that he was boring everyone nearby with his stories!

It was “ok”. I was called 3 times on the days leading up to confirm my reservation. A little overkill an burdensome to call them back 3 times. Would take 30 minutes to read the entire menu. Trying to be a trendy sheik restaurant but doesn’t follow through with the meal or atmosphere. Probably won’t return. Too many other restaurants to try.

Three friends and I had lunch at Mise en Place as part of a trip to Tampa to visit the Henry B. Plant Museum, which is a short walk from the restaurant. It was one of those perfect dining experiences: the hospitality, ambiance, service and food were all extraordinary. I would go back there in a heartbeat!

We were together with friends and had great service and an overall tremendous time. Good appetizers, great entrees, and a nice wine list as well. You would never know from the outside until you walk in. Go enjoy, you wont be disappointed.

We love the food at Mise en Place. Always top notch and delicious! We have been here for both business dinners and special occasions. We went here recently for our son’s 20th birthday. Special! Excellent service too. I just gave it 4 stars this time because dessert took a long time.

Always a fabulous experience all around- 5 stars!! My husband and I had our wedding reception here 15 years ago. We live in Sarasota and gladly drive the 1 hour each way to dine at Mise En Place.

Superb service in all phases. Burgers were the best I've had in years. Nice ambience and noise level was very reasonable. Noise increased dramatically when some local lawyers were seated close by and definitely forgot their inside voice. I know that's not the restaurants fault but a suggestion for them to speak in reasonable voice would have been nice.
