Mi's Waterfront Bistro
One of Kona's best values!
One of our favourite Kona restaurants
I'm a local here in Kona and this is one of my go-to spots, especially when I have guests in town.
Great food on our second visit. Awesome sunset view by the ocean.
This is not an inexpensive restaurant and they charged 3.00 for a glass of Coke, which we know is mostly ice, and then they charged 3.00 for a refill. This was not a large glass, and we fill that for what they charge for the food, and how much that Coke cost them, a refill should be free. If someone asks us about going there, we will tell them that the food is very good, the service is very good, but they charge for refills on sodas, and the wine is more expensive than most places.
Very accommodating in seating arrangements. Good portion sizes. Great view.
Enjoyed our food. There was a large group beside us that was a bit noisy, but were just enjoying their vacation. Going back again tonight, as we enjoyed our meal so much.
The food was fantastic at Mi's. Lovely ocean views. It was a bit breezy the night we were there but we could have sat inside (but who wants to do that in Hawaii?). We found it a bit expensive but then this is Hawaii!
Amazing. We were at Mi's a few years ago when she was just a small 10ish table place in Old Kona. So great that now that she has expanded, the quality and value is still there! Food was amazing! With generous portions. Server was great! Great location. Nice to see what was a small place succeed in a larger place while still maintaining the service and quality. We will be back!!!
This small restaurant in Kailua-Kona was a great find. Fantastic food and great service. Servers “Burt” and “Holly” took great care of us. Also, they have a great “happy hour” from Noon until 4:00 pm.
Overall very good; I gave this a 4 rating vs 5 because the drinks were late. The appetizer came first then a relatively long wait and then the cocktails came and immediately the meal. I'll make sure I specify next time (as I do really like the place): drinks, appetizers then the meal.
The ambience and view were great, food was very good, service was friendly and efficient. I would strongly recommend trying this restaurant.
This is a lovely place for a quiet romantic dinner looking at the sunset with music playing softly in the background. The food is excellent. The catch of the day was great, a little pricey, but worth it The creme brûlée and and banana flambé were perfect. If you like garlic the shrimp appetizer is for you! SerVice was prompt.
A great evening.
Another delightful evening at Mi’s. Thanks Arthur!
Always fresh ingredients, cooked to order and so delicious...even the presentation is beauty to the eyes. We've never been disappointed in all the years...We actually were customers when Mi's was in Kealakekua (10 years ago??)
Average food. Hostess made me feel like she was put upon even though we did have a reservation. Waitress was very good once I complained about the service.
Food and service was excellent as always. Highly recommended.
We’ve been here many times and given 5 star reviews in the past. This time we felt the food wasn’t as good as usual. The beef in my pasta was chewy and the sauce was too heavy. The sauce in the chicken fettuccine was also very heavy. The ravioli was also just ok. My husband was happy with his steak, but his overall feeling was also that the overall meal could have been better. The best was the lemon Meyer crème brûlée which is so delicious.
I used to really like Mi’s. The pasta was watery and a bit bland. The fresh catch dish was good. The kitchen went out of their way to make sure one of our party that had food issues was accommodated.
Overall it was not a good experience.
We decided on Italian after several nights in Hawaii. Pasta dishes were affordable but the secondi piatti or non-pasta entrees were pretty expensive. The pasta dishes were tasty but not outstanding. They were a bit single taste - not over seasoned but not nuanced. Almost all were creamy or cheesy and I was trying avoid dairy. A tomato sauce was ok.
This was a refreshing change from other restaurants we had visited. The food, service and view were all awesome!! We had the chicken parm and the grilled ono and highly recommend both! The tiramisu was also excellent!
Great food and service and views.
Mi’s is a lovely restaurant right on the waterfront in downtown Kona. The ambiance is very nice if you can sit out on the lanai. Inside the restaurant is too noisy. The food was delicious and the wait staff was very polite and efficient. A very nice dining experience.
fish was overcooked. I am not inclined to say more.
We had heard good things about Mi's Waterfront Bistro and this was our second visit with different friends. The first time my entree was pretty good, but the second trip was embarrassing. Two of us ordered crab manicotti and both of us thought we could probably have made it better at home. (Both being good cooks.) Normally I do not give bad reviews, but after reading about the origins of this restaurant and the chef, I think it is time to work on the recipes and perhaps put a new burst of enthusiasm and effort into creating something that you can be proud. To me, it says, "I'm getting tired of cooking for large amounts of people, but I will just keep plugging away." To be fair, I had the pork, porcini encrusted scaloppini the first visit and it was quite good. Just saying, a new look at the menu might be a good thing. I would go again and give them another try because I don't like saying negative things about a restaurant. The atmosphere is to die for and the drinks and ap's are yummy.
Once again a great experience for our group, which swelled from 8 to 11 and was handled without any problem. Great food as always, and our server (Jacob?) handled our group with great skill! A regular hit for us!
We ate here twice and the food and the service was excellent. The 1st time we sat out on the deck and the ambiance was awesome and the scampi and spaghetti was spectacular . The food and service was so good that we went back a few days later to get the same meal. The 2nd time it was raining and we had to sit indoors but still very good experience. Would highly recommend this place.
Service was friendly, if a bit slow. The food was very good. I have no reservations about recommending Mi's if you find yourself in Kuilua.
A group of whales gave us an awesome show during our before dinner drinks and throughout most of our dinner-spectacular!!!
The service was great, somehow the dish that I always ordered have changed, the taste doesn’t taste the same. I ordered Rigatoni hamakua mushroom with Italian sausage, it was a lot of tomato sauce, kinda bland and the taste is different from before. It’s like its missing something. I always ordered this dish and it’s my favorite. I was looking forward to eat this dish again and I’m so disappointed. My goddaughter noticed her dish tasted different and she said it was bland also. I hope the owner get this review and talk to the new chef.
I’m sorry we didn’t find this restaurant earlier in our trip! Food is delicious. Fresh pasta, fish and meat items. And homemade focaccia bread. Prices are reasonable. Wait staff is attentive and the view is breathtaking. Highly recommend.
We had Arthur as a waiter and he was AMAZING. He had so many recommendations. My husband and I took his word for the best meals and they were in fact phenomenal. We will absolutely be back one day.
Lovely setting with a table overlooking the ocean. Many unique menu choices and service was excellent.
We had specified a table outside overlooking the water on the rail. Well we got an outside table right in the spotlights and the runway to the kitchen, it was crappy. No point in booking ahead with specifications and they don't listen (at the time of booking our request was not a problem). Food was very good, service was so so (I don't care if it was valentines day, staff it accordingly).
We accidentally arrived too soon, because we were trying to make sure we could find the restaurant. And we were looking for a place to watch the Gonzaga basketball game. Just our luck they had the game on and two open seats at the bar. So we spent our extra 45 minutes watching the game and having appetizers. The staff were very accommodating and made our evening especially Grand.
We arrived and were seated shortly after our reservation time. We had our drink order taken. We sat at our table for 45 min With only a drink and bread. We watched the owners children eat food off the plates of customers who just left. We were completely discussed ! The owner needs to decide whether she is running a day care or a restuarant. The food was excellent, but our experience was ruined by this
Nice location, water view, friendly staff, and excellent food. What more do you want?
As always everything was perfect. This is the best all around place to go in Kona
The view and the breeze were lovely. The fresh ahi and risotto were great but the crab manicotti didn't have much crab texture or flavor, overpowered by the squash sauce. We had a nice evening.
