Excellent service and delicious food. The soup was especially good. The noise level is really high though. Some tapestries on the walls might help. With the aging population this will be a more common issue, both because people don't hear as well, and those with hearing aids often can't stand loud restaurants.
A terrific choice for a lot of reasons. Central location (close to the metro and right off the freeway), quick and dependable service, good food, diverse menu options, etc. Pizza is great, salads are great, burgers are great; something for everyone. Not super fancy, but professional. Lots of light coming in through the tall windows and an open and airy feel. Noise level can be a little high when it's busy because of the concrete floors. One of my favorite places for a business lunch. Love the whiskey bar too.
We had a business meal on Monday (11/27). The restaurant was not crowded. The service was fine and the food was good. However, valet parking was a disaster and no one in the restaurant seemed to care. We arrived at 6:30 (on time). We waited 10 minutes for the valet to take the car. After 10 minutes, I left the driver in the car and entered the restaurant to ask if the valet was on duty. They replied that he was and must be parking another car (despite the fact that the restaurant was nearly empty). After another 5 minutes or so the valet stumbled out. We asked him what the problem was and he grunted at us in another language and gave us a ticket.
We departed a couple hours later and waited 10 minutes for the valet. We then re-entered the restaurant and were fed the same line (parking other cars). They also claimed not to have his number. We waited another 10 minutes when he stumbled out of a stairwell. We asked again what seemed to be the problem. He grunted again and got downright surly when he received no tip. This restaurant will fail if this problem is not fixed.
The food was delicious. The service was, at best, indifferent. It started with an uninterested hostess who told us we could sit outside where no one else was or at a high top table. No regular tables were available even though I had made a reservation, she said. She suggested we go to the downstairs bar. Told to sit anywhere, we waited for menus, and drinks. The food came out in no particular order so that only one of us had a plate at a time. We were never asked about a second glass of wine (in a bar!) or dessert. No one seemed to care at all except the kitchen staff. They produced wonderful dishes. Too bad no one in the front of the house could live up to their standards.
I am a visitor to L.A. and chose Miro because of the proximity to the theater and the small plates format. The vibe is upscale. The hard surfaces make it noisy even when half empty. The food was tasty and presented well. My only complaint (and I probably should have asked or stipulated differently) is that the plates come out as they are ready and not with any thought to progression of a meal or tasting. So all of a sudden I had a bunch of food on the table making me feel rushed - a peeve of mine. My other note/recommendation is that I was alone and the plates were ample, clearly meant for sharing - 3 was too many!
This was my third visit to Miro. The first two were in the afternoon with friends so went back in the evening with out-of-towners. Miro offers inventive appealing and very tasty food. Unfortunately on this occasion we made a 9:30 P.M. reservation on a Friday. No host on arrival. Once seated were offered water then a long pause before worn server appeared and tried to rush drinks and food together. Remember pushing 10 in the busy sector of downtown and the pl;ace is bustling so I don't think staff was going anywhere soon. Anyway that was the story for the night- a lot of rush, un-involved server no wish for a real dining experience. Too bad because the group was all in the industry. Food very good. Service not at all.
Have had many a business lunch here over the past few years. Food is always good and ample room @ table to take notes or refer to paperwork during a meeting. A bit on the loud side but not so much as to dissuade one from taking a business associate there to dine.
Miro iselegant. The clientele is actually below the level of the restaurant...it seems to be driven down, but this might just be my old man snobbishness...the place is beautiful and expensive. The crowd was low brow, young millennials..with no real taste. The few tables that had wine did not seem to be drinking premium wines...we were Bordeaux from 1966 and 1990 and a 1950 dessert wine. Our service was excellent from John. Armen, the GM is charming and very accommodating. I like this place and will return.
From the moment we walked in for lunch at 12:30, we could not think. The noise was so loud you could not carry on a conversation. We were seated in a supposedly quieter section, but the noise was still awful. The food was good, I enjoyed my lunch special - salad with mushroom rigatoni - my friend had the fallafel sandwich and it was plenty. Very tasty. However, I would not return due to the noise level.
Really like the food, but the service... not so much. I never complain about service, I don't really care that much. We invited friends and were embarrassed by the bad service. But we had all sorts of problems with timing and who gets what plate. We complained to the manager, but he made some obviously bad excuse, which tells me they are unconcerned and things will not get better.
